First impressions:

Size:
The way it fits in my hand is (almost) perfect. The width is perfect, however, the way my fingers get positioned on the back of the phone sometimes has them just on the camera tumor. Not a big issue, but every time it happens, I notice it. Wasn’t planning on getting a case, but it seems like now I have to just to get rid of that Nuisance. Ideally, some sort of MagSafe back plate that can be added to the phone to provide the same thickness. Also the phone flat on a table is more annoying with the wobble.

Battery:
This is where my real concern lies. The battery reminds me of my first gen SE, its going quick! Mid day im already near 50% without charging it. I feel like typically this wont be an issue, as I can charge my phone on normal days when I am home. But there are occasions where I am out all day, whether for work or on the town, and I dont know how I feel about having to worry about having a battery pack or charger on me when my 11 Pro lasted me all day.

This has been my dream phone for years, but now that I have it, I dont know if its really what I want, mostly because of the battery. Im on the fence about going with the 12 Pro just to have the square edge design with a slightly larger battery, or going back to my 11 Pro altogether. Not sure of Apples logic of putting smaller batteries in all of their new phones (compared to last years) with the more power-consuming 5G. I wouldn’t have minded the phones being thicker to accommodate larger batteries.

That a very fair analysis. The battery is underwhelming in most cases but we went in knowing that.

I just love this little bastard. It’s so cool to have phone of this size again. So happy. Went from an iPhone 12 Pro. No qualms with battery so far. Would love if Apple made MagSafe pucks that recharge your battery like some of the concepts out there.

Is there a way to go back to a previous wallpaper?

I had been using one of the defaults I really like for the past year or two and I just decided to try out one of the new ones.

But now it appears that default I had been using is no longer on the wallpaper list, so I’m not sure if I can get back to it.

Signing this part. I came back to XS just because having nothing TOO MUCH NEW and battery. But when (or if) Apple will release Smart Battery Case I will think about it again. Agreed that I would sacrifice few mm thicker phone or even that magical 5G for better battery life.

Well you have to find it on the web. If you don’t find that wallpaper in the Settings, it’s gone.

A MagSafe puck battery pack like the charger puck would be great haha. But I believe they will do a Battery pack in the size of the Leather wallet to snap on. Whatever, as long as they don't just make a battery case I am all for it. Never buy a Apple case because of it's thickness and weight and if that would be the only extra battery charging option, that would be a disappointment. But I believe in a Magsafe charger pack, whatever design it may be.

Here are (almost) all Wallpapers ever existed in iOS! You can even download all of them at once on the top!

Iphone 12 mini and having problem that it says I am on wifi but it has no internet connection. Iphone 6 + old ipad mini works without any problem all the time.

Iphone 12 mini (only device with iOS 14.2) .. just works for a while and after that there is no internet (while still showing I am on wifi). When I turn off/on wifi.. it works for some time and drops connection again.

Did anyone experienced something like this?

I've tried restore network settings, hard reset.. no luck.

Thanks

Thanks. That’s a great collection this person put together.

Strangely, it doesn’t have the exact one I’m looking for. It’s the first iOS 12 one shown there, but that collection shows it for an iPad rather than for an iPhone.

Have you tried resetting your router. I bet it’s having trouble keeping your IP address for some reason. When your WiFi doesn’t work, go into the wifi settings and see if you’re getting the private address (169.xxx.xxx.xxx) rather than your routers set address scheme (192.168.xxx or 10.0.1.xxx).

I did a little research myself because I was pretty sure I'd lose the wallpaper I was using if I replaced it based on prior experience. Turns out there is a hidden folder on the iPhone that there is no easy access to where you can find your existing wallpaper. And perhaps if you replace it, it may be deleted from that folder anyway.

The only sure way is to go back in time, and if it was your own created wallpaper, save it somewhere. The easiest is in Photos. Or to be forward looking now. I will be saving my black wallpaper in Photos so I can switch wallpapers if I want in the future and still go back to black.

I actually browsed that link you posted with all the wallpapers but all the images are html. You need a jpg for wallpaper. No doubt you can convert them, but that was just one more thing I didn't want to learn. Just as I didn't want to create a jpg from scratch even after learning you set the color to 0-0-0 (apparently pure black). One more app and learning experience I didn't want. But here is the black jpg I used. Move that to Photos on your iPhone and from there go to Wallpaper and choose it.

Discovered something new to me. I went two nights without charging my Mini, but at 60% midmorning I thought I might need a bit more as I'm going out for several hours. Plugged it in, and it beeps every with every 10% new charge. I didn't experience at night (that would be really annoying) as I have set a do not disturb at night. I assume it is a feature for someone with fast charging who is tapping his foot to unplug and can use a helpful alert. I only have the 5 watt charger (fast enough for me - and car charging at similar wattage also seems brisk).

I’m leaning towards a mini but am curious what news articles and books look like on it. Could someone share a few photos of those things so I can get an idea of what the experience would be?

I love most things about my mini but not for reading books. The text is a little small IMO.

Text in general is smaller than the other models, it’s the one thing that’s making me reconsider my purchase.

Oof that’s my biggest concern. Love the form factor but if I’m not going to enjoy the activity I most use my phone for, then it’s kind of a deal breaker.

Ye, I have only tried to reboot the router (not like resetting all settings). And yea.. I am getting 192.168.xxxxx. So I guess.. I have to set a permanent IP for my iphone right? Somewhere in the settings of my router.

It‘s exactly the same layout as on the X/XS/11Pro, just scaled down to fit the smaller screen. Meaning that the photos you are asking for would show exactly the same as photos of a X/XS/11Pro (assuming identical text size settings etc).

When I explained this to one guy on YouTube he didn’t trust me. 😀 Thanks mate!

Increase it in Books or in Dynamic text in Setting, huh? 🙂

It has a big advantage and a big disadvantage.

Yes, it's is small and text size is way smaller in standard display mode. But you can set the text size in many apps to your liking. But of course than you have to scroll more. But what no one should underestimate: The size and weight of the phone when reading. I found it amazing when text size is adjusted to my liking. Scrolling the hell, yes but you can hold so long because it isn't too big or too heavy at all. It is way more comfortable than any ebook reader or bigger phone, and I tend to read on Kindle Paperwhite which is quite comfortable for it's size. I would take the risk. If it isn't your at all because of the scrolling to get to the next parts of the text then send it back.

Finally got to see one in person, and I have to say that I love the size. Perfect size for a phone imo, and I can do the back swipe gesture with ease. The screen did look a little yellow, but if you turn True Tone off it looks significantly better to my eyes.

my biggest complaint would be the screen refresh. After coming from a 120hz screen, it’s almost impossible to go back to 60hz!! The animations just looked so choppy it was almost jarring. I read a thread or two on choppy animations on the 12 series so Im not sure if it was an actual issue, or just my eyes used to 120hz. I don’t remember the iPhone 11 looking so bad.
