Trying now to restore my new phone and ran across some collateral damage. I haven't had new phone for 4 years, can't restore the phone until I update my MacBook OS. Which likely means some software will break, like QuickBooks. That's going to cost me.
You should be able to update to Mojave, which still supports 32bit apps (if that is the problem).

Can someone post a photo of said “yellow” screen? You’ve made me curious...
55 pages lol.

There is of course one obvious area Apple could have gained battery life, by excluding 5G. Wish they had done that with all the phones this year.
You can just turn off 5G in settings if you think it's going to impact your battery life. With 5G set to auto it only uses 5G in certain data intensive situations so I doubt most people will see much of a hit with 5G set to Auto.

From the initial reviews it seems 12/Pro get 80% of 11 Pro and the Mini is about 50% of 11 Pro. It seems 12PM is similar to 11 Pro.

Many reviewers are using year old 11 Pros to confuse matters.

For me I would ideally need 1.5-2x 11 Pro battery to be totally satisfied.
lol, get real. For the record, a real user not a reviewer, my 12 is similar to my 11 pro that had 100% battery after 13 mths, still get 2 days.

Since multiple people said a variation of this response, I would like to point out that the 5G components take up more space which means less space for battery life. However it’s a moot point because this is the decision Apple made.

Consider using the back tap feature and use the Reachabiity feature for the double tap option. That way you can invoke Control center while holding the phone with one hand. Problem solved. :)
May as well of got a 12 if you have to that on a mini.

Coming from an XS then an SE 1st gen (for a few months after I sold the XS) now on the Mini, for me it's perfect! Literally the phone I was hoping would be the successor to the original SE. My screen isn't yellow, no flicker. One Youtube battery comparison shows the Mini gets nearly 7hrs of constant on screen mixed use, more than enough for me.

Man I was really impressed with my battery life when I was at home in WiFi - but now that I’m out in the world on 5G I feel like it’s plummeting insanely fast

My Mini arrived about an hour ago...setting it up now. I sent back the iPhone 12 that I ordered last week because my screen was very yellow compared to my iPhone X. I am super thrilled to report that my new Mini has a much more neutral color tint that is very close to the colors on my X. The Mini is weightless...so excited about it so far. I will report back after testing it more, but the Mini is definitely looking like it will be the right choice for me!

Coming from X.

I feel like isn’t so much smaller than the X, but the weight is noticeable. What impressed me most is this new design. My X was actually my first iPhone so I never used these old squared iPhones. I think this new design suits best the mini. I got the black and it so sleek, I love it. It is also very snappy and it doesn’t get warm at all like the X. I also have this yellowish screen, but it is noticeable only on high brightness and when you compare it directly to an old iPhone. I think it would get better in couple days.

I'm opening this thread for all those who bought the iPhone 12 Mini.

Is it what you wanted or are you finding it too small?

I was between mini and 12 , coming from a 6S, but i saw the slight reduction in the width as being a problem, since I already struggeld with the keyboard at times.

What are your impressions?
Initial impressions:

+ive The screen area vs the device size is great, and the speed is fantastic, battery life is promising to be just insanely better than the original SE, has both a wide and ultra wide camera, front camera is a major upgrade vs the original SE

-ive a bit on the big side and a little heavy for one handed use, battery is in excess of my needs and I'd rather have less battery so it was lighter, screen doesn't always wake up when you pick it up (on two samples), ultra wide camera produces grainy results indoors, screen color changes substantially when viewed from an angle, colors aren't bad but the gamut is a bit limited, particularly in the red/purple area (compared to wide gamut calibrated monitor)

It's really early but so far battery life is way in excess of requirements I've had about an hour of screen on for a 15% drop in battery level and that additionally includes about an hour largely screen off but with a GPS tracking app running.

On the software front I was using 14.2 before on my original SE and I can't see that anything has really changed there. One thing that both my son and I have noticed on our respective 12 minis is that picking the device up and tilting it towards us does not reliably turn on the display, on occasion you have to push the right hand button (edit: or tap on the screen, as pointed out by klasma in a reply) which is a pain. My iPhone 11 is much more reliable for waking the device compared to the 12 mini. The camera is just so-so, the wide angle in particular gets a lot of grain indoors (even with decent indoor lighting). I don't think it's any worse than my iPhone 11 in that respect though.

All told I'm pretty happy with the phone. This is a good start, I hope Apple sticks with this size and works on making it lighter weight and puts better rear cameras in the next iteration.

I'll get to see my mom's Mini before I see my own. Thanks UPS!

"What can brown do for you?" - Apparently let me down

Tapping on the display should wake it up, no need to push the power button.

Please keep in mind that on most of the iPhones the initially apparent „yellowness“ goes away after a few days. IIRC it has something to to with the lamination of the screen that is changed when the phone is used (because of the heat).
🙄

no. It's just people getting "used" to the yellow screen. The screen doesn't change. I wish this rumor would go away.

coming from an XS, i totally forgot about lack of haptic touch. and guess what - the long press works fine. no big deal.

Just got round to copying everything over from my XS, adjusting to the slightly smaller keyboard does not seem like it will be an issue, the size and weight is refreshing and happy to have something lighter in my pocket.

I’ve noticed the loudspeaker sounds considerably better on the XS. Not sure on any other cons yet but will play around in the coming days.
