Got so tired of carrying a huge phone ... took a 13 Pro and traded in for an iPhone 13 mini ... can I say it was the best phone purchase I've very done ... no, as I loved the smaller form factor way back when (iPhone 5) as it always fit in my pocket. I just bought a second iPhone 13 mini in case something happens to the one I have ... I will wait this out.

I am very good with my Mini until Apple release flip and fold phones.

We are entering a differently phone period soon. Apple are working on new flip and fold phones.
My iPhone Mini is confident and encouraged until some phone that is worthy to replace it in size comes 😤
I think you’re probably right about that. Apple hasn’t shown outward signs of enthusiasm for foldables, at least not from the very few leaks and rumors floating around that I’ve seen. But they might be playing their plans close to the vest until they’re comfortable with the ability of a foldable to meet their standards.

I’ve been a very enthusiastic mini fan. I do prefer to use a Pro Max in general use, but I got a 12 mini and later an SE3 for use in the summer when my clothes and accessories called for a smaller phone for ease of carrying around. Unfortunately I developed neurological issues with the displays of both phones so I had to stop using them.

But they really had their niche with me and many other people. Unfortunately, there just weren’t enough of us to keep the mini viable. I think if the Covid lockdown hadn’t curtailed people’s mobility when it did, the mini might have gotten more momentum. It’s a nice size for people going out and about and wanting to travel light.

My gf needs a replacement for her old iPhone SE gen 1 and the replacement has to be the same size, she doesn't want the larger iPhone. I don't think Apple offers anything that small anymore?
current SE is darn fast and still that size.

They’ll serve the smaller device market somehow.

It’s a smaller base, but a devout one that is extremely committed.

Apple fans also need to understand that it’s a good thing to have lineup diversity. Not all SKUs need to have massive sales. They simply need to be profitable, which they all are.

Give it another year. Something with a power sipping 3nm SoC will be a dream setup for a new small device of some name.

As with the 12 inch Mac laptop computer, the desires of a few made the iPhone mini happen and it will probably be the next iPhone SE that brings back the form factor at a more reasonable price.

The Mini mob are so obnoxious lol. We’re never going to hear the end of this are we?

Based on the rumors it seems all iPhones are going to get bigger. 6.1” SE, 6.3” standard/pro , and 6.9” Plus/Pro Max.

You’re going to need to decide between a “huge” phone or iOS. We all know you’ll pick iOS though, right? lol
Like we never heard the end of it during the early iPhone days from everyone who wanted bigger screens?

I don't want Apple to stop offering phablets for the people who apparently have huge hands or both hands free at all times. I just want one that I can use one-handed. I don't have tiny hands, either – I'm 6'4" with long fingers to match. My 13 mini is still the biggest iPhone I can use comfortably one-handed. I tried a bigger phone with my 11, and I liked some parts of it, but it was definitely bigger than I want. My 13 mini was a revelation, and I'll probably be keeping it another year at least. Apple is throwing potential revenue down the drain.

If a mini phone with the least features made up 3% of sales from that generation, it may just have proven that gimping the smaller phone was the wrong move. Those who care least about features bought the regular 13, not the mini. We mini users would be happy to pay more for a pro mini, at least everyone I've talked with who has owned a 12 or 13 mini.

Very small phones that are also very expensive, don't have much of a market.
I have no idea about market demand (and I doubt anyone here does either), but speaking as a small phone fan the fact they didn’t do a Mini Pro was a disappointment to me. I’d have bought one.

Secondly, the iPhone Mini was a compromised device. Apple’s obsession with thinness meant it had dismal battery life compared to bigger screened phones. They should have made it thicker (uniform thickness with no camera bump would have made a better looking phone with much longer battery life). We don’t know what demand would have been like if they’d done that, ie if they’d made a *good* Mini.

Lastly, 3% of phone shipments is still almost 7 million phones in 2022.

The main problem with the mini is its name

Unfortunately I believe that you probably really do have something there. While I don’t agree, it is fairly obvious I’m in a minority. I don’t blame Apple, it is just another example of American runaway consumerism. Go out there on the highway and most of the “cars” are giant SUV or mega pickup trucks. And many of the drivers with something less gigantic wish they had giant one too but, just cannot afford one. ( while I happily putt around in my Miata).

It is the same way with smart phone screen size. Few want a mini in the world of giants (mega max ultra pro), and many who would settle for a mini only because it’s the lowest cost configuration. And then as you mentioned, the few that want a mini can be disappointed that the iPhone mini is still bigger than they expected.

I’m afraid those of us whose 1st choice would be a mini (or would even pay a premium for one) are a minuscule portion of the marketplace.

Before the event last year went out and bought a 13 mini because was worried Apple might cancel the 13 mini when the iPhone 14 launched. Returned it the day after the event and kept on using my 12 mini. Couple of weeks ago started checking stock at resellers in Canada and almost all were out of stock of the 13 mini. I went to my local Apple Store the next day and bought one. It's sitting in a drawer where it will stay for at least a year while I continue to use my 12 mini. When that dies, breaks etc I'll pull the 13 mini out of the drawer. RIP the mini form factor.

I think a larger number of people prefer a smaller phone than what the people here think. The problem is that “smallness” isn’t the number one factor For many of those people. Battery life, or better camera(s), or the better screen is the higher priority. Personally I would have preferred the mini to be slightly bigger (mostly wider) and as I’ve said other times always would have liked to see what the 5.8” display from the Xs would have been like if they would have reduced the bezels and reduced the phone size instead of reducing the bezels and increasing the screen size and phone size. Anyway I’ll keep my 13 mini until I can’t.
