the restoring to the real ATT_US it keeps tethering but i havent gotten it to work again

EDIT: Tethering goes away very soon after

Working tethering via usb but not bluetooth, AT&T US. Not sure why its working now. Maybe its luck?

Using the iPhoneModem method you create an ad-hoc network thru Wi-Fi.;)

Yes, there are some perks with jailbreaking, but once you reach that state, its a *very* downhill thing. Also see my signature for more info on jailbreaking. Post 2 of that thread.:p

BTW - Everyone is entitled to their opinions,:D:D

i found PDAnet to work a lot more reliably compared to iPhoneModem. Also, for PDAnet you don't need to install anything on your mac/pc so that's nice. :)

Has anyone got this to work on a Macbook (see sig for specs)?

I got the tethering to show up on my iPhone but the phone and MB will not pair up no matter what I try. If I click on my Macbook on my iPhone it will say connecting and it will show they are paired for about a second (red circle turns green) but then it turns red again. Dunno why...

I don't get how to use the USB mode.. under System Preferences > Network I don't see iPhone anywhere.

USB not working

Hey, I am having problems getting the USB tethering to work, the option does not show up in network preferences. What do i do?

Hey yeah.

I'm on Windows and for some reason the folder isn't there.

And it doens't make any sense to why it isn't there.

Thanks.

I've tried everything and I can't get this to work on my Macbook, neither over USB or Bluetooth...

I uploaded the new carrier settings and I have the option for tethering. Over bluetooth I get the "Could not open the communication device" error and over USB nothing happens at all.

What am I missing?

I had the same error, but renamed the connection "iPhone" and then it connected. Cannot guarantee renaming was anything other than a coincidence, but it worked for me.

Hmm, I decided to revert back, juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust in case. Since this isn't completely hammered out who knows what AT&T will try and kick up (even if I stay under the 5gb/mo)

For me the thetering also works (T Mobile NL). But it only works on my Santa Rosa MPB. On my unibody MPB i get the no maximum number of connections error or something like that. (See earlier this thread) I think it is an bluethooth error.

On my santa rosa MPB when i paired with the iphone i have to enter manual the securtiy code on the iphone. When i paired with the unibody MPB i got an popup message on the iphone with the security code and the message to check if the code is same with the code on the computer. So the way of pairing is different on the new MPB and i think that that causes the error.

can anyone help :(

This is limited to pre-Unibody Macs for bluetooth (Rev. B Macbook Air doesn't work for Bluetooth) and Macs with the 3.0 SDK installed for USB tethering. There is no Windows support at all right now as far as I can see.

I compared the tethering to my normal 3G speeds and it is about the same using USB tethering.

yeah, that kinda explains part of it...
but i also tried BT tethering on my iMac and got the same error mesages (about too many connections)... its a 2008 Alu iMac...(see my sig)

Then your bluethooth is too new ;-). Its only works with older bluethoot chipsets. Install iPhone SDK 3, then it wil works trrough usb. This works with my unibody MPB. And it's very user friendly. Connect your usb cable and the iphone automaticly connects :)

Yup, it seems only older BT chips work. I get the "too many connections" with my Alu-MacBook, but it pairs with two of my Mac Minis fine. I also see the difference in that when pairing the Minis cause a viewcontroller asking for the pin to present on the iPhone, whereas the MacBook causes an alertview just asking you to tap pair.

So yeah, the newer machines definitely cause BT pairing/connections to be set up differently and this must be the problem. Oh well, at least USB works fine.

yeah.. will try that when i get home tonight :)

tethering and the mms ui, yes.. sending mms is not possible yet (well it does work, but then internet on the iphone wont work anymore)

Thanks!

Got it installed. When I clicked on setup tethering, I get an error to please contact T-Mobile to enable tethering on this account. Is there another version of this flie out for T-Mobile Germany?

***UPDATE*** This T-Mobile file also breaks 3G for Germany!

I got my to sync with my MacBook nano (MSi Wind) by selecting "other device" when adding a new device in bluetooth. When I selected a mobile phone it wanted to install a com port instead of the PAN connection.

Frackin' sweetness....
Thanks for all the info posted here.

Tethering works on my 3g, but uploading the IPCC file broke my visual voicemail. Restoring a fresh IPCC file from Apple's servers failed to fix it - anyone have any suggestions?
