Tethering works on my 3g, but uploading the IPCC file broke my visual voicemail. Restoring a fresh IPCC file from Apple's servers failed to fix it - anyone have any suggestions?

Was very weird - the setting to enter my password in preferences had been removed. It's like it turned off voice mail entirely. But, after some more resets and, strangely enough, removing the SIM and popping it back in, voice mail came back!

i'm using a penryn mbp 2.4 and getting the too many connections error

i guess i have a too new bluetooth :[

I can't connect for tethering via bluetooth since I have a Unibody MBP which seem to have problems across the board.

I also can't use USB tethering. I just don't get any new network interfaces. I'm told this may be because I haven't installed the SDK yet. Currently downloading and I'll confirm if it makes a difference!

Tethering worked instantly for me. Over Bluetooth was a no go though. When I turned tethering on my mac asked me if I wanted to connected to a new network.

Hello, me again.

It appears that if you can't use Internet Tethering via USB because no new network devices appear when you plug in your phone, you'll need to install the iPhone 3.0 SDK.

During the installation an 'iPhone System Update' is installed (and you're asked to close iTunes). Immediately after that part of the installation, a new network device will be detected and everything works.

Now to get MMS working... :) I'm on O2-UK, using the IPCC that's doing the rounds. Everything seems to work except MMS messages will not send. I suspect it's because it's not enabled on my account.

Has anybody contacted O2 yet to see if they'll activate MMS messaging on iPhone contracts?

The ability to connect a computer (usually a laptop) to your phone so that you can use it's GPRS/Edge/3G connection as your computer's Internet connection.

Handy when out and about!

Okay Im back (the guy who wrote the first IPCC)

MMS won't work as carriers have been told by apple the iphone doesnt support MMS, they have disabled it. You can ring them and ask for it to be enabled by this has had mixed results

Thethering will only work if you have iphone SDK installed as it patches both itunes and the system so that tethering can work correctly.

and it has to be SDK 3.0 by the way :)

i can still send MMS, but was told that I should call o2 and tell them my iPhone is broke and that i'm using a n95.. and they should be able to switch mms on fully (or something to that effect)..

No need to lie...

I'm hearing that people calling O2 on the phone are having mixed results but contacting them from the website seems to work.

I e-mailed them from the website saying I was a registered Apple developer and wished to test the new MMS functionality Apple had provided me with. I asked if they would kindly enable MMS on my account.

I received a response this morning (which seems to be a standard response, as others on the O2 forums had received it) saying that MMS had been enabled. MMS now works fine on my phone.

I so tried this approach today.. and received a response within a few hours (impressive!!)... email stated they have now provisioned MMS on my account..

I was already able to send MMS before but just not receive... so after I got the email response from o2, I sent a test MMS to myself and it's been about 30 minutes and not received anything yet...

So whatever the guy has done, from being able to send but not receive, looks like now I'm not able to do either!!!!!

EDIT:
The MMS I sent to myself and another from a friend both arrived approx 3 hours after being sent!! So it looks like it is enabled but just very bad lag sending/receiving!

tethering in beta 4 with iTunes 8.2

USB Tethering in beta 4 is working fine with modified ATT IPCC file. MMS appears to be gone now.

I haven't had any luck with bluetooth tethering using my Unibody MBP. I've heard installing the 3.0 SDK can address this, going to give that a shot.

installing the sdk worked on my unibody mb when connecting via usb for tethering... still don't get bluetooth to work... will try it in beta4 though

Eh I spoke to soon, the tethering option totally disappeared from my options and I can no longer get it to show, did AT&T push something to block it?

ok people. I am not sure this thread is still alive. BUT, I just got the tethering from the website that lets you pic the country. I have an old powerbook g4 with 10.4.11 and got the iphone and laptop to connect via bluetooth. I hade 80k a sec speed on downloads. reconnected a few times in 2 days. NOW.
