Steve addresses the invited group of reporters: "Ladies and gentleman, you know that iPad everyone just bought? It's about to get a lot better. For everyone. For free. And so are the iPhones. Welcome to OS 4.0!"

A live feed would make for a great PR move: imagine half a million new iPad owners watching live--and the rest of a curious nation watching over their shoulders.

Here Ye Here Ye!

Would it kill them to have a shortcut to turning on/off wifi and bluetooth?

Please please please. At work, I might use their fast connection to update my apps and check news etc. but then, I might wanna look up Facebook.

So toggling Wifi on and off with one alias/link on the homescreen would be more than welcome.

Settings > WiFi > Off > Facebook. Home > Settings > Wifi Status > On is a chore.

^ Exactly ;)

And one more thing

I wonder if Apple pulled developers away from the iPhone team (hardware & software) to do the iPad? If so, how many? I remember hearing here on MacRumors that Apple pulled developers from Mac OS X development to work on the iPhone when it first came out (which is why 10.5 was late).

Also, if Apple releases version 4 of the OS at WWDC in June/July, if it'll release it for iPad as well? Kinda weird releasing version 3.2 & then 3 months later, here's version 4. And if Apple did pull developers from the iPhone, how good will 4.0.0 be? I understand that it might not be until August until it ships, but still, 4 months? And why not introduce the iPad & new iPhone at WWDC?

Subfolders in the Photo-app would be awesome.

Currently, it is not really usable for me. I have sth like Year - Month - Special Event. In Photos, I can have either a whole year per album or certain months from the current years.

It's not really worth worrying about stuff like this. Rest assured, there is a timeline in place and Apple probably knows what they're doing.

I wonder if apple jumped the gun on announcing the new OS to spur more sales of the iPad?

possible, any way 4.0 is in the works for release in June (next iPhone), it is just the timing, but welcome one right?

hope free upgrade for iPad owners (at least 4.0 if not the 5.0)

Sync and Upgrade without Computer

I am actually hoping for a sync without using a computer. Either syncing to mobileme directly or to a USB hard drive. This would actually allow a large group of people to use the iPad without having to own another computer. This would open the iPad market further.

Along with this, being able to update the OS without a computer would be a must.

i think apple is going to need to drop support for the iphone 2G and iphone 3G if they are going to do anything substantial. otherwise you run into the problem of the older hardware just holding you back. much the same way that google has not released 2.1 to the g1 and mytouch 3G and microsoft has completely broken away from previous windows mobile devices.
