who cares about the iPhone production in this case. Those people, they are literally locked in like chicken at a chicken farm. Just there to work and eat … if they get enough food
They need to take care of themselves! It is a shame that 1 billon people live like slaves!

Something, something, vaccines work, something, something.

China's policy is about one of the worst relating to getting COVID under control.
Does anyone believe this is about “getting Covid under control”?

It’s about one party’s ability to control their people. This has nothing to do with Covid. It’s about keeping 1.3B “useful idiots” (as Putin would say) in lock-step with their Overlords.

Apple won’t mind, so long as the slaves keep rowing.

Looks like companies should move their businesses to more reliable countries. Can’t seem to count on CCP China to deliver the global goods when needed, time to find someone else who can. Zero reason why one country should be holding the rest of the world as economic hostages

What does China know that makes them so overtly cautious after all this time.

Covid is prevalent all around us, mutating at pace. Wonder what the end game is.

You hear this reason a lot but without any reasonable explanation. So it's just aimless desire to "control" people to no end? I'd think money would be a more powerful motivator than a nebulous evil-mustached plan just to tell people what to do for no reason. My guess is the government makes less money if their factories can't produce the maximum #s of goods.

The rest of the world has figured out how to move on, China needs to follow suit. Otherwise supply shortages will continue to be a thing, as will inflation.

It’s because China’s population doesn’t have the same immune system as people in the West do due to being relatively isolated from the world not just since COVID. Imagine back when the aboriginals in America meet the European sailors. They went extinct due to the lack of basic immune response to common diseases. The health and critical health infrastructure in China also cannot cope with a material increase in patients, especially in poorer parts of China, which are the majority.

China, however, will reopen the boarders and significantly relax COVID restrictions in the Spring of next year.

You’re right. Looking back throughout history, there’s ZERO instances of individuals or groups attempting to control the masses. They were all more concerned with productivity. 🙄
Control with no other reason than simple "control"? That's a pretty lazy analysis. I'll believe "evil" reasoning before i believe essentially no reason at all.
I get that it's what someone would say that can't or won't understand or agree with the actual reasoning though.

All these selfish people just need to do the right thing - stay in their homes at all times, leave only if absolutely necessary, and wear full PPE when doing do. Just do that for 2 weeks and COVID will be over. We’re risking too many people getting colds, etc., by not living in our own home prisons. The risk-reward just isn’t there - more lockdowns like this are absolutely necessary. Only then can we be safe and healthy.

the rest of the world is so guliable. If China wants to affect world economics all they have to do is announce a covid outbreak which forces nearly everything to stop. Production stops, nothing get's shipped out and then all the companies affected start to put prices up because of supply and demand. People may think Russia is doing their part in causing world wide problems with stoping gas and grain shippments getting through but China is also doing it's part by calling out covid outbreaks when ever they see fit.

Apple needs to expect more shutdowns because it will happen.

Lol!….another “person with direct knowledge of the matter” news report. Again with this FUD nonsense? Oh what the media has to do to get people to click. Smh
Well the FUD nonsense (govie) could be the source, yet again people to click - could be that in that part of the world real communication of any news comes from the 'Top' not real news work - which is very tough and heavily watched.

right now the ONLY click I'm getting in my head is this is a control tactic to delay revenues for non-chinese businesses so that their economy can get strong again with this imposed unnatural inflation.

Apple seriously needs to get out of China. What is it going to take?
we know the iPhone 14 regular and Plus are manufactured at a small percentage in India.

From now own Apple needs to source production in various continents and countries. Never had a single production house/door/country.

Vaccinate if possible and mask up. You can't stop this virus completely but you can take precautions. That being said, I hope those who are manufacturing Apple devices stay safe. I think it's important for Apple users to know a little bit about what the workers of the manufacturers of Apple gear have to live through.
But, that's just it. It has been reported, by various legitimate news sources, that Chinese made COVID vaccines do not work. That's why they are still doing lockdowns.

To many people refusing to wear masks who hear they don’t work from people with zero medical experience that say they saw someone say they don’t work.
Stupidity is enjoying a major resurgence within our societies.
The movie idiocracy is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.
Strange. There are people saying the exact same thing about people who insist on masking simply because the media and govt officials told them to. They never question why it hasn’t worked in the real world nor why health officials can’t produce a single, definitive study that shows how masks are effective at stopping the spread… whether in schools, counties, states, or countries.

In fact, the data shows masking is ineffective in slowing the spread, and several studies have shown that masking is actually harmful for young kids.

Masking, like so many things nowadays, has been deeply politicized and people need to wake up to the fact that they’re being propagandized by the media. The only defense against idiocracy is critical thinking.

Cracks me up that we are still having lock downs…they don’t work folks.
Right. And China’s zero Covid policy. Well, for one, you’re never gonna have zero. The virus is a living organism. It spreads. Secondly, you just keep prolonging natural immunity by artificially limiting peoples exposure for these blocks of time.

But it’s China. Those politicians are just eating it up. They probably know better. But the control feels good, right?

Wait wait, are you implying that the Covid vaccines made elsewhere do work? Like the states? Ask every person I know that’s had the vaccine — they’ll tell you differently!

They have lock downs because the Chinese made COVID vaccines don't work.
Neither does any other vaccine which is why idiots in govt that keeping mandating this stuff got Covid: Trudeau, Biden, Fauci, AOC, etc.

They should never have called it a vaccine cos it works nothing like traditional vaccines. Not to mention, Pfizer exec recently admitted that they never tested it for transmission… I wonder why “vaccinated” people keep getting Covid??

Covid is just like the flu/influenza. People need to accept that reality and move on.

Follow "the science". Even "the science" is having to admit they do nothing.

Wow, so factory employees live on-site? That sounds miserable and dystopian.
They bring in people from remote villages to work for next to nothing. Those people are making a fortune relatively speaking. The locals that live around these factories are smart enough to know they can make more money working outside of those campuses, or take a higher wage job as a production manager/engineer/planner, etc.

You should explain this because they quite literally do work. You aren't going to contract COVID at home by yourself and quarantine will prevent spread. It's dumb simple logic. Now what you might be referring to (if I had to take a huge leap) is the efficacy of lockdowns long term as it pertains to stabilizing economy and returning things to how they once were. Especially when it concerns China's zero-tolerance policy and especially in the face of tests, vaccines and antivirals.
Who cares if you get a cold, I mean COVID. Newsflash, it's 99.97% survivable. You have a greater chance of dying from the flu.

I always had the feeling that the lockdowns have been a bit of an overreaction and also ineffective. But Chinas insistence on them especially even after the rest of the world has stopped makes me wonder if they know something we don’t. I hope that’s not the case.
There is a thing with democracies, they can get stuff wrong, because changing is baked into the system.
At this point it is just saving face. They were caught unprepared and off guard (not that anyone will ever admit that...), this was the perfect solution. Now it seems no one is willing to change it.

Even the science isn’t sure..

It went from “the vaccine has 95% protection from getting Covid” to “you can get it but it might be less severe”.

This is probably why the lead time for iPhone Pro models has drastically increased again in a week around the world. The estimated delivery date for my order is still the same(8-15 Nov) but who knows if it will be affected, too, depending on how they sort out the supply problem. I hope Apple can accelerate moving production out of China and diversifying it into different countries as much as possible, but I'm sure they're already eager for it more than anyone else. Lasy year the semiconductor component shortage issue, this year China risk, iPhones are too hard to get :/
