Even the science isn’t sure..

It went from “the vaccine has 95% protection from getting Covid” to “you can get it but it might be less severe”.
The first stated it will stop you from getting covid. Then they said you can get it but 100% won't spread it. Then they said you can get it, spread it, but won't get hospitalized. Then they said you can get it, spread it, get hospitalized but not die. Then they said you can get it, spread it, be hospitalized and it may help your chances of dying. Then they said well the vaccine was for the first variation and doesn't work well against new strains-but you should take some more of the outdated 'doesn't work' vaccine just in case.

Apple seriously needs to get out of China. What is it going to take?
How about “a significant cost (=> translating to end-customer price) hike for all their china-produced products”? Next to a lot of time and supply chain hiccups, of course …

There are lots of reasons to criticize China (and most countries), but the comments here are pretty Sinophobic. Gosh, the American economy and consumerism is more important than decisions made another country's leadership...

Sorry for your inconvenience

Comments like this are ignorant. Totalitarianism doesn't care about race or politics, and you're playing into their hand by defending them claiming a strawman of "racism".

My family is half Chinese and I live in Asia, btw.

I’m glad you know more than professionals. Might also tell your dentists you can chew on fluoride tablets to not get cavities.
This would have been a sick burn in 2020 or even 2021. Now....its just ridiculous. We have so many published papers and comparative analysis showing this stuff didnt work and .... the professionals were wrong on many of these issues. Its easy to know more than some professionals by reading the more up to date research from other professionals and acknowledging them. But sure lets continue to pretend the "professionals" were uniform, still are uniform, and as a uniform group got everything right about CV19.

At this point it’s just China trying to control its people and showing who’s daddy…
Trying? lol ... I think you mean 'continuing to'
The rest of the world has figured out how to move on, China needs to follow suit. Otherwise supply shortages will continue to be a thing, as will inflation.
And why do you think this does continue? Whom is hurting more other than the factory workers? I'll give you a hint:
it's businesses with other countries not their own.

Manufacturing/Assembly NEVER should've been in 1 place! Those in charge let COST be THE deciding factor for their business needs. now they're trapped at the mercy of these lockdowns.

Except, I'm not defending China. I'm concerned about how many folks in this forum are criticizing a country because it's not producing items for their consumption; whereas, others are (rightly) concerned about the workers. And opinions by laypersons about how governments should handle Covid to maintain their consumptive wants are pretty ignorant.

Us, the users, could push for change. We still have stuff like this going on...

Factories are usually able to continue to operate under a "closed loop" system where staff live and work on-site, but the arrangements have caused various problems, including workers expressing anger on social media at their treatment and living conditions.

... Apple did address these sorts of violations in the past, but they were purely for show. More of a "don't let us catching you do these things" slap on the wrist, then any actual care given that this sort of thing is happening.

Cracks me up that we are still having lock downs…they don’t work folks.
They do, but we are of a tale of 2 extremes. China has gone overboard with this (AFAIK, most of their citizens are vaccinated), whereas in the US, anytime people are given directions to do something they don't want to do, they just cite "that's communism". I won't ignore that the administrations could've handled it better, but even if they did, that's the USA for you.

The $1000 iPhone would go to $1500 minimum.
Why not make it $2,000? Apple wants to hit that $3 trillion net worth. I (seriously and genuinely) don't doubt Apple users will be more than happy to help their beloved company get there.

"Workers flee from Foxconn's vast Chinese iPhone plant"

Look at the picture Apple wants you to see (taken fron macrumors). It is clean, sterile, artifical and perfect.

So take a look at the reality, or behind the scenes of a trillion dollar company;

Wow, so factory employees live on-site? That sounds miserable and dystopian.
There are staff dormitories in the factory. Foxconn asked employees to stay, but many employees don't want to stay. They are afraid that there will be no food after the lockdown (all passenger cars, trains and planes in Zhengzhou have been suspended, and employees need to walk nearly 100 kilometers to leave the city). I saw on the Internet that many employees are walking away from Zhengzhou. I am now in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. Nearly 4 million people here have been sealed at home since August 9 and can't go out. I have lived in the so-called cabin hospital for a month (in a small room, it is not allowed to leave the room, and staff members put food at the door of the room every day...) My brother is also here. His family has not delivered food for ten days.

It won’t be easy, but it may become necessary for more reliable production.
Right. And China’s zero Covid policy. Well, for one, you’re never gonna have zero. The virus is a living organism. It spreads. Secondly, you just keep prolonging natural immunity by artificially limiting peoples exposure for these blocks of time.

But it’s China. Those politicians are just eating it up. They probably know better. But the control feels good, right?
They just want to compare with the United States (you see how many people die in the United States, how much we die, we care about life the most). As long as they win or lose digitally, they don't care about life.

Cracks me up that we are still having lock downs…they don’t work folks.
The Chinese government feels differently for some reason. Maybe they’re fearful that their government could collapse if a few million Chinese citizens die from Covid if they don’t take action. Maybe it’s something else?

I’m glad you know more than professionals. Might also tell your dentists you can chew on fluoride tablets to not get cavities.

You don’t have to be a professional in this case to see that they clearly have not worked. How is a zero-covid policy working if there is still covid? They have gone to the most extreme measures possible and still there are outbreaks.

These “zero tolerance” policies have never worked for anything and only make people suffer more.

Strange. There are people saying the exact same thing about people who insist on masking simply because the media and govt officials told them to. They never question why it hasn’t worked in the real world nor why health officials can’t produce a single, definitive study that shows how masks are effective at stopping the spread… whether in schools, counties, states, or countries.

In fact, the data shows masking is ineffective in slowing the spread, and several studies have shown that masking is actually harmful for young kids.

Masking, like so many things nowadays, has been deeply politicized and people need to wake up to the fact that they’re being propagandized by the media. The only defense against idiocracy is critical thinking.
Unfortunately, the only outcome from idiotic minds' "critical thinking”, is just the creation of idiocracy or the spread of it.

Neither does any other vaccine which is why idiots in govt that keeping mandating this stuff got Covid: Trudeau, Biden, Fauci, AOC, etc.

They should never have called it a vaccine cos it works nothing like traditional vaccines. Not to mention, Pfizer exec recently admitted that they never tested it for transmission… I wonder why “vaccinated” people keep getting Covid??

Covid is just like the flu/influenza. People need to accept that reality and move on.

It was never required to test it for transmission and it was never promised if you read the reports. It clearly stated that effectiveness against transmission was unknown.

Later studies did show a reduced transmission rate.

You're just writing non-sense.

It was clearly stated the vaccines was successful at reducing the probability of severe illness and death against the earlier variants which it was tested against.

Effectiveness against transmission was an unknown was clearly stated when approved. Later studies at least from the UK and Israel confirmed it had effectiveness against transmission, at least the early versions.

Unfortunately, the only outcome from idiotic minds' "critical thinking”, is just the creation of idiocracy or the spread of it.
Ha, I get where you’re coming from but critical thinking, by definition, takes multiple views, evidence, and data into account to make an informed judgment. Idiocracy/idiocy therefore comes from a lack of thinking.

In this case, people who blindly parroted what gov’t officials, health “experts” and media told them, but never took the time to reconcile why mask and vaccine mandates never slowed the spread in the real world… or why the so called experts had several different recommendations on masks… or why 2 weeks to flatten the curve never materialized… or why the teachers union wrote the health policy for kids in schools… or why strip clubs were considered essential but churches, mosques, and synagogues had to remain closed… or why Walmart and Target could stay open but not the mom and pop shops that sold similar products… or why gov’t officials pushing these mandates were caught so often without masks when they thought the cameras were off… on and on.
