I’ve had a fair few Android devices in the past because I like both operating systems but my iPhone history is:

iPhone 4s
iPhone 5
iPhone 7
iPhone XS
iPhone XS Max
iPhone 12 Pro
iPhone 13 Mini
iPhone 14
iPhone 17

4S
5S
SE (1st gen)
8
12 Mini
13 Mini
15 Pro

I think this is right? The 8 was the first "big" iPhone I got, having resisted the 6 and 7 models in favor of the SE. I just hated the idea of phones that were a big departure from the easy one-handed fit of the early ones. And when the Minis came out I got both of them in turn. I finally buckled and got a 15 Pro because the battery life on the 13 Mini was just really hard to live with. Been very happy with it, though I still find it awkward to juggle one-handed and bulky in the pocket.

I still actually have my SE 1st gen. sitting here in a drawer, and every once in a while I power it up and am kind of blown away by how tiny and compact it is. What I truly truly wish is that the phone carriers would let you activate a second phone with the same number. If that was the case, I'd definitely keep the SE activated and pop it into my pocket when going out for an evening, taking a walk, stuff like that.

Are moving from se fully to regular 17?

Trying to get se 2022 but don’t know where. Want to ditch 15 pro into the drawer, because i still can’t sleep missing apple pay touch id - face id wallet creates a lot of friction in my daily life.

I would compensate for se with ipad mini 7 for home use.

Yeah, the SE 2022 needs to be charged 3x a day now despite light use (85% battery health). Granted, it's mostly my CGM that drains the battery. I have AC+ on it so I'm waiting for it to drop below 80% to get the battery replaced as I like the form factor and plan to keep it.

I was originally planning to just use the 17 Pro but it's just too darned thick and heavy for my comfort. Tried the Air and it was too big so now I'm opting for the 17.

Every single iPhone in every color since the original iPhone (still kept that one.)
I really liked the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s size and designs.
No favorite, but the Air is a gorgeous one!

iPhone 5S
iPhone 6+
iPhone 7+
iPhone 8 (work phone)
iPhone XS
iPhone 13 (both personal and work phones lol)
iPhone 17 Pro Max

The 5S was my first iPhone because I always had T-Mobile and honestly couldn't afford paying twice as much for the required AT&T plan to have an iPhone. I ordered it on launch day, with money I made at my first internship! So I still have that one laying around and I still like using it to compare phone sizes lol.

I also loved my XS! It was a beautiful gold phone that was a joy to use! I ended up replacing it with the 13 I got on clearance at Target because the XS' battery was giving up and the phone was starting to act really erratically.

I'm not sure how I feel about my 17PM yet. It's a big phone. Orange isn't my favorite color but it does look good. It's a fun color! Just like the red on my 13 was. I think it'll probably go down like my 6+ and 7+ - I enjoyed using those.

Do you know your iPhone ownership history from the first iPhone you used to your current iPhone?

Highlight your favorites!
No, I do not know my "iPhone ownership history from the first iPhone you used to your current iPhone."

I do know that I have owned ~every other iPhone since v1 except lately every one, and I carefully evaluated each new generation of iPhone. Each iPhone generation has improved over the previous one.

Surprised there are so many people who bought a new phone every year

Family plans with 2 year subsidies. I usually got the new iPhone while my 1-year old phone got handed down to the family member needing a phone replacement (upgrading from dumb phones).

Also, back in the early days 2 major iOS updates crippled iPhone performance. Even single app performance was hampered by limited RAM (128MB on OG & 3G).

I had frequent early upgrades as my family didn’t care the model and yearly upgrades went to me and older ones went to my spouse and parents.

2007 Original iphone
2009 iPhone 3GS
2010 iphone 4
2013 iphone 5s
2015 iPhone 7 plus
2021 iPhone 13 PM
My next phone probably 2027 or 2028. 13PM is by far my favorite though 5s was great phone and still miss the size at times, but never going back to smaller phones.

I was a late bloomer getting rid of my flip phone and buying my first iPhone, so here goes:

4
6
11 Pro Max
13 Pro Max (current) and favorite

I hated my iPhone 6. I got it free from my carrier and it had 16GB of storage. Knowing what I know now, I can see why that phone was free. I hated that phone. Storage filled up fast and I was locked into a two-year contract and couldn't upgrade. I was so frustrated from that experience that I switched to Android for a few years. Once the allure wore off, I bought my 11 Pro Max. Looking back, I wish I had given the 8 Plus a try instead of switching to Android. It's the one iPhone that I wish I got to experience because it was a significant upgrade from the 6 and had the same processing power as the X. I just wanted a change at the time, and the 8 Plus reminded me too much of my 6 and I didn't want to pay $1K for the X.
