Its nice to see a few people (jerks) hijack a thread in order to have a flame/argument about what something is or isn't.
Thanks guys.
I am one of many people that ARE NOT photographers. You know, those of us that outnumber those of you that are.
I for one like the "HDR" or whatever you think you want to call it. I believe that my PHONE and I will make use of it. A gimmick, or whatever you want to say it is, is fine with me. Its a phone. Not a $17000 camera.
Sheesh.
P.S. No one really cares how long you've been an expensive picture taker.![]()
HDR is very cool and you'll love it. Look it up on wikipedia.
A camera has a limited range of brightness values it can capture in one image. The idea of HDR is to take multiple images (usually 3) from over-exposed to under-exposed. Somewhere in all of those images every part of the picture will be properly exposed. The software then sorts out using the properly exposed areas and dumping the rest.
Some people also use HDR to achieve very dramatic effects in their photos. That is a whole other topic. If you go to the photography section on this very site you can find an HDR thread like that.
The example was hand held. I'm guessing the software also does some registration as well as HDR.
