Northwest Addition?

I noticed that under NORTHWEST, the only city listed is Seattle, WA. Any chance of adding another city and state to NORTHWEST would be much appreciated. Like Portland, OR and Boise, ID. 2 other good size cities that should make there way to the list. Thanks much, oh and if you only wanna add one, please add Boise,ID!

Cheers,

I like how on the apple store locator, and probably for all locations, says that there are "no events scheduled" for the 29th.

Seems like they'll have their hands full of iPhones to be putting on other shows, eh?

haha i noticed the same thing, i figured they would have their hands full with training everyone on the iphone release...

4 days, 2 hours, 42 mins.... i'm soo excited

Called AT&T Store

I tried calling three of my local AT&T stores today to ask about the iPhone and I was greeted with an automated message saying the store would close at 4:30pm on Friday the 29th to prepare for the launch of the iPhone and that the store doors would open again promptly at 6pm. This sounds like black friday after Christmas! My god, people are going to kill each other over this phone like they did the Playstation 3... I'm taking a kevlar vest... HAHAHAHA

Landscape Keyboard!!!

What im unsure of is why not include a keyboard calibration setting, so it can find the center of your fingers to detect what button you are pressing.

Why oh Why don\'t they just make it so you can flip the phone and type on a bigger landscape keyboard????????????????????? Seriously Apple.... come on!!!!! If they just added that one simple addition the worst criticism of all would not be a problem anymore. PROBLEM SOLVED! Are you listening Steve Jobs??? Give me a job and I\\\'ll give you a lot more great ideas like this! :)

Also, since the keyboard is all software-based, there is a lot of room for Apple to make improvements, such as adding a larger, landscape-orientation keyboard or whatever. And if Apple doesn\'t do it, you can be sure the mod community will!

So I\'m not the only one that has thought of that way to obvious of a fix to the keyboard problem :) I mean seriously... it\'s a no brainer!!!

While I agree with wanting a landscape keyboard, but I see a possible reason why they don't:

Since there isn't any tactile response to the keyboard, in order to become faster with it, you have to learn by memory where each and every key is. A landscape mode would change the positions of those keys.

That's the only reason I can think as to why they're not implementing a landscape keyboard.

The funniest part of this, second only to the fact that it can be done via a software upgrade, is that no one knows whether it already does it.

Amen Again!!!

Someone please explain why the obvious solution has not been implemented: the keyboard gets larger when you rotate to landscape mode. This has occurred to everybody but Apple, it seems.

BINGO... lol Here we go again. Seriously everyone has thought of this genious idea except Apple. I hope they release an update within a couple months that adds this feature!!!

3g

Right now the issues associated with 3G are not worth it and I think Steves' strategy is a sound one. When 3G is ready and can provide the experience we expect, the iPhone will have it.

We have 3.5g HSPDA in AU and with one carrier it covers 98% of the population ... currently speeds are rated at 3.6 Mbit/s peak data throughput (downlink direction). with future updates set to increase to 7.2 Mbit/s

I can get a faster internet connection on my phone than I can at home with crappy ADSL1

So maybe the US has crappy 3G but for here in AU Apple would have no choice but to go 3G or people simply would not bother with it.

No, AT&T has crappy 3G (well it seems like the GSM providers have crappy 3G service areas). The CDMA folks have pretty good 3G service, shoot some of the CDMA carriers are gonna start to roll out WIMAX within the next year.

Dude... Either way its still a QWERTY keyboard. I don\'t think it would be a problem at all. I think it\'s a genius and simple solution. I will predict now that it will come in a software update after a lot of people rip on the keyboard!

Very true! :)

I guess I should have labeled that as "hypothetically speaking..."

It does not!

Trust me if it could already type in landscape at least one of the many media pieces Apple have made showcasing it would have for sure shown that feature, especially when the keyboard has been one of the biggest negative gripes overall.

Plans

Just talked with a AT&T rep...she indicated the plan or plans (?) would be made available possibly on Thursday or on Friday.

There will be no phone orders or online orders...available at AT&T or Apple stores only. No blending of the iPhone plan with other plans...if you have a family plan then that will revert to single plan and the iPhone will be another single plan...both on the same bill.

If the phone specific SIM is replaced or lost or broken, it must be replaced by a new specific SIM and a new 24 month contract will start at that point.

She seemed extremely well briefed, was an Apple user and was very helpful.

Just wondering...

Most of the "smartphones" and large screen cell phones in general have this annoying thing which is that the screen is very difficult to read outside with lots of light (sunny).

The iPhone is just a plain screen with a highly reflective glass. I was wondering if the iPhone would be difficult to use outside ?

If some people has already got an iPhone in their hands, could you tell ?

I guess I will have the answer next week the latest... :)

being a european resident I find it funny to see how far behind the us are as far as communication devices are concerned.
I keep reading stuff like "try getting through the day with a 3g phone" "3g experience sucks" and so on.
I've been using 3g phones for 2 years now, first a nokia 6680 and now a nokia 6280, and they both worked flawlessly, not a single dropped call, perfect reception, oh and internet with up to 2 mbit.
And my battery lasts an average of 3 days, I don't get you people, when will you realize that motorola phones are just the worst on the market (at least here in .eu they are)
You can't be serious saying that EDGE is better than that. Then of course, if network providers offer lousy quality and lousy phones... (my girlfriend used to have a RZER, and she constantly complained about battery life and about the sucky user interface, now with her new nokia, she's happy)
Don't get me wrong, I will be getting an iPhone when it comes to europe, but it better have 3g by then, coz without it, it WILL fail in europe, all of my friends bash it for not having 3g. (and the 2mp camera which I don't understand either)

just my two euro cents

i walked by the chicago downtown store today and there were a bunch of apple people standing outside the side entrance

is apple bringing in more employees for the launch? i know at&t is
