This is the first iPhone release that I have not even thought about waking up to pre-order. My 6 plus works great and 3D touch just isn't interesting.
That's what I feel too! I feel like the 7 will be the phone for me. For 2015 in more interested in the iPad Pro.

I hate the gold color, but I actually don't mind the rose gold (which surprises me). It looks more copper and refined. Sadly, you are stuck with a white face front. If the rose gold came with a black glass front, I'd be incredibly tempted.
I agree, I only passed because of the white front.

There will be something on the iPhone 7 you will hate then say I'll wait for the iPhone 8 no maybe the 9 heck I really like the way the iPhone 10 sounds. Happy waiting!!
Same to you! When I get the 7 happy waiting for you when you get the 7s.

A couple of points worth noting.

1. As others here have said, it was reported that Apple ordered a ton more phones than usual in anticipation of high demand.

2. According to the availability matrix posted here earlier, pretty much all of the China stock has been pushed to 3-4 Weeks.

If both of the above are true, that points to massive demand in China.

As for my ordering experience, It took a while for me to respond to my alarm. I called to place the order around 3:12. While on hold, I fell asleep. I was awakened by a call from T-Mobile at 4:09. I was surprised and happy that they called me back. I got my order number, though the instruction of returning through the mail is the opposite of what is stated on their site. I'll have to get clarification on that later.

Edited to correct number of weeks.

Every year, I stand in line at the Apple Store. I have fun and usually get to work by lunch with the new phone while everyone drools since they have to wait to get home and hope the FedEx guy dropped it off correctly. This year I am on the other side. Will not be in a position to stand in line. I ordered mine earlier and will receive it on the 25th. And I won't be able to gloat in front of anyone. :(

That's how I was last year when the iPhone 6 came out. I was the first teacher in my school to get the 6 everyone kept asking me to see it. Even the vice principal came to me one day after work to have a look at it before he brought one lol.

Then others started getting their iPhone 6 so I became unpopular again. Haha.

I think the low sales count has to do with the following:
1. Lack of interest for this years model
2. Not much of an upgrade
3. No 2-year option on Apple site

For me it was 3 & 2. Even now, almost 3 hours later I can still get a Space Grey 64 and have it by 25 September.
Too expensive in Canada and many other countries outside U.S.

It's a stroke of genius to start pre-orders on a Saturday morning. Lots of people were too drunk or simply didn't want to wake up at 3am on a Saturday morning which softened the initial few moments of sales (by far the most chaotic). They simply smoothed out the spike and spread it out over the course of the morning. I call it "social load-balancing".

I think they'll do this again in the future (start pre-orders on Saturday).

Years ago I was brought in as a consultant to a company whose servers were crashing every Friday afternoon when people were entering in their time. They wanted to throw all sorts of money at it—beefier systems, more on-call staff, etc. My solution to them didn't cost a dime—simply allow flexible work hours and it would even out the load on that system. Worked like a charm. Just redistribute that spike naturally.

But I heard the iPhone 10 is too heavy! I'm personally going for the iPhone 23 which will levitate.

It's way too expensive even in the US. A 64gb Plus is over $1000 after tax and AppleCare+. For a *phone*.

The streak is over, imo. Now that carrier subsidies are gone, people will see that full price and shake their heads. It just doesn't provide enough value for the money, especially if you already have a perfectly good phone.

I agree, I only passed because of the white front.

It's a bunch of things with the white.
  1. It's distracting to me when doing something on screen (but looks good in pictures).
  2. There is a black boarder around the screen from inactive screen space, so it's screen-black-white.
  3. When the device is off, you get a gaping black rectangle in the middle of a white screen, whereas on the black models you get a smooth black surface.
  4. On white fronts, you can more readily see all of the sensors at the top of the phone.

LOL - yes, every year's iPhone, iPad, etc. is the most powerful yet, best yet, etc. so they could really drop those references. I do think that there was enough features in the new model to do an upgrade (not a 'must have', but no phone really is a 'must have') - particularly if you're looking to change your storage space as I was.

I actually like the idea of a little more weight to the phone. I know that Apple is obsessed with thinner/lighter, but I don't mind a phone with a little mass to it.
If the NEWEST model is not the best and most powerful yet... lol.

It may have been mentioned somewhere in the last six pages, but last year was the first giant iPhone. I'm sure they thought it would do well but I think they greatly underestimated just how well it would do. I got my order in 15 minutes after launch and still had to wait until October to get mine. This year the shine is off the 6 Plus.

Again, these guys know what they're doing but I just can't abide that rose gold. I'm really surprised it's selling out first.

Slippery for sure. Would love a durable non-slipper phone that really wouldn't require most people to put a case on it. Sapphire screen and a stainless body with water resistance similar to the Apple Watch and I would be happy.
Galaxy S5. Get it.

Of course he has the right to passionately post how disinterested he is. As often and as eagerly as he wants. Every right in the world to shout his ennui from the rooftops: "I'm disinterested as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!!!"
When ever I see people positing of their "disinterest" of a new product in such a thread as this one, I often wonder if there are other contributing factors causing the lack of interest; Financial, poor credit or other.
Why take the time to say ehh not interested especially shortly after the preorder windows opens.
There were 3 days since the official presentation and leaks over the last month or so

For those posting about "lower sales" this year, I believe MR mentioned that Apple increased production compared to prior years.

This is my first year preordering. Is it a ship date of 9/25 or a delivery date of 9/25? If it ships Friday, are we looking at a Monday delivery date??
mine ships 9.24 and is scheduled to be delivered at 9.25 according to my at&t order email if that helps

I've always been a non "S" user because in my opinion I don't see the need to spend more money on a phone that looks exactly the same as the phone that I still feel that I just recently purchased! I rather wait for the 7 which will undergo a radical redesign as well as improvements over the 6s. For now I'm more interested in the iPad pro this year.
I on the contrary do the opposite, I never buy V1 of things... especially iPhones which ALL v1 have some type of issue that is corrected on the S versions. I could understand if you are doing 2 year contract and your upgrade time is with the v1 of iPhones though.

Not much of an upgrade? Are you kidding? It's improved in every aspect. BTW most people upgrade from a iPhone 4s, 5 or 5s so for us this is a huge upgrade no matter what.

Agreed. Going from 4S this is a pretty good upgrade. But I love the size and aesthetics of the 4S - that will be the only thing I miss.
