My mistake. I meant the third quarter of 2011. Actually, the 3GS was the #2 best selling smart phone for the second and third quarters of 2011.

That is also on the iPhone's first carrier and can't be directly compared to verizon, who arguably has a stronger android line-up. A particular model of the iphone can be the single best selling smartphone while getting trounced by the competition because there are so many other handsets. It's much different to say that a/all iPhones are outselling ALL other smartphones by a 2:1 margin. And that's how marketshare is measured, not by specific phone, but by phone OS.

Again, you were comparing apples and oranges.

Apple just announced their 4Q earnings. Mac growth was 26% year over year globally. Which beats your numbers for Lenovo. Will you now admit to being completely wrong? :D

Here's your explanation:

From Rovio:
"Previously, many people were experiencing problems in finding Angry Birds on Android Market.."

A politically correct way of saying: "Android users are too cheap to pay the 99 cents and we have to give it out for free ..." ;)

Turn-by-turn, I understand, but seriously, I sure hope none of those folks decided to switched back because of the 99 cents they have to pay for Angry Birds on iOS.

.

I don't know if it's availabel for other countries but I found NavFree to be a good GPS application. It's free with ADs and about NZ$2.99 to get rid of the AD. Works great in NZ.

Still remaining faithful to Android because an iPhone doesn't fit my needs yet.

Let's see how many downvotes this gets

I always down vote posts that preemptively complain about down votes.

Glad you are happy with Android! :)

OMG but it has no turn-by-turn GPS!!!

Or something.

I know you are kidding, but do those people who say that not understand you can go to the app store and download turn by turn apps for free. MapQuest 4 Mobile is one that I have tried.

Kinda related on the if it has bloatware/being stuck with stuff you don't want...

At least with Apple you have a choice of whether you want to link your phone to twitter. Google is now going to make it not optional whether you link your Android phone with G+ or not when you activate it:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/busin.../24/gIQArgJHOQ_story.html?wpisrc=al_comboNE_b

Which makes me very glad I don't have an Android phone. And if i changed from iPhone I'd consider Windows Mobile despite me not really liking the format well. I really do object to being forced to link my phone to any social network. Yes, I trust G+ more than I do FB, but they both still have motivations to sneak info I may not want to give since they both make their money the same way. And to auto link my phone to it?! Hell no!

I don't want any social network linked to my phone, FB, Google, or (even if I had a Twitter account), twitter.

May I ask why? I have my Facebook, Foursquare and twitter linked to my phone. Sharing stuff is so much easier that way.

Too easy to inadvertantly give them info you may not have wanted to give away (you erally want them having access to all the info on your phone?). I want control over what I share with them.

I don't care about sharing stuff being easier. I am more worried about Privacy concerns. I realize that if you are on the internet it's not possible to be totally private, but you can at least do things to have some control over it.

Even if you say that google only shares it with itself, let me ask you this... is google going to deny the government if they want that info they gathered on you?

Indeed. You are maybe one of like 10,000. Can't get more unique then that.

Where are you getting your information from that only 10,000 RAZRs have been sold? I'd be interested in seeing that. Besides I would never trade my 4.3" screen for a 3.5" screen. I also wouldn't trade 4G LTE for old 3G CDMA. As long as Apple refuses to move up in screen size or embrace 4G LTE at least on Verizon I will stay with Android.

Being facetious, point is with only 2.3 million lte devices sold in the quarter by verizon, it's a safe bet the razr has anemic sales

I can't recall the last time I saw an iPhone 4S Verizon-specific ad (did Verizon even run these?) Meanwhile, every time I turn around, I see a Verizon ad touting the latest Droid handset. Yet the iPhone accounts for more than half of all smartphone sales on Verizon? Amazing! This is big, big news!

I'm one of those that activated an iPhone 4 on VZW's network last year and sold my Droid X. I won't be going back as long as Apple continues to provide a superior product with polished app content.

Don't forget, Verizon also grossly underestimated demand for the iPhone 4, even after putting off bringing the iPhone to their service for years, and years, and years, and...

A lot of people compare the iPhone to Android to Mac and Windows. It seems different this time.

Android/Windows is the OS from Google/MS running on random hardware from other companies. iOS/Mac is the OS from Apple running on Apple hardware.

Apple sacrifices customization of hardware for stability and harmony. Less phone users care about customization than PC users. I still think a PC should be made by the same maker as the OS, so I use a Mac (besides, Mac OS is way better).

Bigger screen isn't really better. I'd rather have the smaller one for a phone. Also, 4G is completely useless in crowded areas since the BOTTLENECK is at the old wires going to the stations, not the air signal. Plus, having faster cellular data isn't that useful anyway, especially when it's limited and expensive. If, for some reason, you decide to watch Youtube videos on 4G and waste your data plan, you can load it faster in certain areas. Woohoo.

Meanwhile, you're stuck with a second-rate (much worse than the first rate) phone and OS.

You're aware of the search engine known as Google, yes?

You made the statement that 4 million iPhones were sold on Christmas day. I merely asked if they were actually sold on Christmas or activated on that day. I'm not asking Google, I'm asking you, the one who made the statement. No need to get defensive.

You've been hanging out with Oletros too much. If you have a question that needs an answer, search for the answer yourself. I ask again, exactly what difference would it make? No need to avoid the question.

I asked the question. You avoided answering it.
