Exactly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's quirky.

That's not what I said at all...So not exactly.

People were tapping on it as they would have on any previous phone that could not sense pressure. It was literally an issue of them not being used to it. Not a joke, quite literally they were using it wrong. Because it was new and had to break the habit of being able to tap with any amount of force.

It has never been an issue of the tech working only sometimes, it was always how people were used to tapping the screen for 8 years prior.

Here are my issues:

  1. iCloud Photo Library is a buggy and unreliable mess and no way to make Google Photos as default.
  2. Mail app on my mac doesn't work with Gmail, just not receiving new messages, even tried restoring mac
  3. Siri is a joke and there's no way to make Google now the default voice assistant.
  4. No way to copy files from your PC to your iPhone.
  5. It takes 25 steps to copy music from your PC to your iPhone, including dragging files to iTunes choosing which songs to sync and etc. Why not just let us drag and drop just like any other phone? Oh right, Apple wants you to pay $9.99 for Apple Music.
  6. With the release of Apple Music, your own music library feels like a second class citizen inside iOS music app. AND Apple doesn't let you use an alternative music app as default.
  7. iOS 9 made all my Apple gear obsolete, to the point where it lags like an Android. The only exception is the iPhone 6S, and that's by design because Apple wants you to buy their latest tech.

My issue with Apple is this: Apple is horrible at services, at least let us use services which are decent, but they don't let you. Apple wants you to use their buggy software and won't let you set any app as default instead of it's own.

1. Haven't had any issues with iCloud Photos, works just like Google Photos does, though I do like the recommended photos with Google.
2. That happens to me too sometimes. Supposedly it's something on Google's end, not using standards. I've noticed with 3rd party apps it's hit or miss how well they work with Gmail because of this. Still an issue though.
3. I actually like Siri better than Google now, seems to understand me better and does what I ask while Google now keeps trying to do a Google search. Though it would be nice to pick your default.
4. You can use iCloud Drive. Just set up iCloud Drive on your Mac and drag and drop your files there. Then on your iphone, go into iCloud settings, iCloud drive and show on homescreen. There you can access all the files you place in your iCloud folder. For me this works much better than having to plug the phone in.
5. It shouldn't take that many steps, you can just drag and drop in itunes. Select the tracks you want and drag them over the phone icon. You could also use Google music, just drag and drop the songs you want to your Google music folder and they're synced to your account and available to stream on your phone. If you don't want to stream you also have the option to download.
6. Yup, even turning off Apple music in settings the music app feels incomplete. Whish they just made that a seperate app instead of trying to get us to sign up.
7. iOS 9 has actually been much better for me than iOS8, and I recently got an iPhone 5S for my son and it seems to run just fine.

People already have on this very forum. It's not a secret by now. Don't you have an iPhone.

With 3D Touch, sometimes regular taps don't register. So you end up tapping harder on the screen out of frustration.

Better just to turn 3D Touch off altogether. It's a time waster.

Now, before you flat out deny that it's ever happened to you, as is often the case; I'm just saying, it's already on the forums.

The best word to describe the iPhone right now? Quirky. Verrrrrry quirky.

You never know when something is going to work or not. And as has been documented on my phone calls with Apple Support, I'm tired of refreshing the RAM. Closing apps. Deleting apps. Reinstalling. Redownloading from the cloud.

You know how many times I had to wipe my iPhone to restore it since the iPhone 6?

Probably 20 times or more. But I'm not doing it anymore.

You must have an iPhone from different company. My iPhone 6s Plus is working great. Zero issues. It's been faster than my 6 Plus, battery life is better. My 6 Plus was a year old. After first couple days, my photos all sinked up and appear on my phone iPad and MacBook in seconds. I get phone calls through my iPad non cellular and the MacBook. Everything syncs great. Att wifi phone is wonderful. Screen on phone is great, pictures are wonderful. No blotches, dots, dust, lag, freezes. Non of that stuff. I have updated via iCloud each update no issues.

I read the stuff the few complain of and just wonder. And my son got the same iPhone upgrade and has had the same results. Best iPhone ever. So I don't get it, what are my son and I doing right, or what are you few doing wrong.

I like 3D Touch, took me a week to get used to it. Now when I switch to my iPad Air 2 I get frustrated becaus no 3D Touch. Has not interfered with using other touch screen features in the least, after I learned how much to touch.

Apple Music has been great. Uploaded my entire CD collection into iTunes and have it on the phone along with all Apple Music. Now I spend cost of one CD a month and have millions of albums/songs. Maybe it's me, but there are a few detractors on here that seem to be making a crusade out of their experience with the iPhone and ios9.

Love using Hey Siri. Ask it several questions each day, and use the timer like crazy for cooking, or reminding me about something. Phones sits across room and I yell "Hey Siri set timer for 30 minutes" boom like magic it answers back confirming timer is set. Not having to touch the phone for that, or asking time, or temperature. Silly things I now take for granted. Like having an assistant with me. I love it.

Just want readers to know there are also some of us who don't have these issues, and truelly enjoy the latest iPhone. I read the problems and look for them on my phone and just don't have them. I'm sorry those few do and I wish I could help them or at least explain it. But the two iPhone Son and I have are just plain working great.

To summarize: quirky for some and not for others, in the end, everyone can do whatever is best for them.

We know that Apple's iPhone sales are in decline.

Sales didn't decline, sales growth declined, but I see your point.

I had the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. Then I switched to Android. Just before xmas I thought I'd give iPhone another go and got the 6S. I returned it after a couple of weeks for a number of reasons, most of which escape me now, but here's a few I remember.

The phone defaulting to Apple Maps was infuriating. And when using Google Maps, the "Google Maps is using your location" banner was ridiculous.

The fact the camera stuck out was an odd bit of design. Almost conceding the phone is too thin.

The lack of notifications in the toolbar meant I kept missing messages, emails etc. I lost a days work as a result (that was the last straw and what made me return the phone).

Not able to arrange icons on the homescreen as I wanted.

The amount of icons I didn't want but that couldn't be deleted.

And many more reasons. Either way, I can fully understand why iPhone sales are beginning to falter.

iPhone sales have not declined yet. They probably will during the next quarter but for now they have not declined. My enjoyment of my 6S plus will not be determined by how well Apple are selling.

iPhone sales are not declining. Apple is having smaller record breaking quarters.

Of course, people who say they understand why iPhone sales are declining are posting hyperbole. First on a grander scale no one could really know why, and second it's not true as of the date of this post.

You need to take a deep breath, put your iPhone on eBay and go and buy something else. There's plenty more phones and computers out there for you to choose from.

Exactly what I said - iPhone sales aren't declining, sales growth is declining.

The market could surprise Apple, sales could be flat or down
Given the shrinking growth, saturation of the market and less new markets to enter. I do think Apple was on point to say the sales will shrink. Perhaps the rumored 5SE is hoping to staunch that shrinkage.

As for the OP, I think you're taking the issues you have, and designs cues you don't like are and are projecting others having those. Every version of iOS has had major complaints by vocal group of people, whether the design is getting old and stale, or whether they should not have abandoned skeuomorphism and made everything flat. People don't like change so while there are things in iOS9 that apple needs to address, people here have a long history of not liking anything apple rolls out. They hated iOS8, but when 9 came out, people were complaining and wanting to go back to 8.

All cell phone sales are suffering.
Just wait till later this year when we are in a recession.

I'm sure I read recently that Google are thinking of taking their Nexus hardware in-house. I think that'd be a great thing for smartphones. I currently have a 2nd gen Moto X and I've looked at all the Android options, I've tried the iPhone, and I've decided to stick with my Moto. I think all companies out there are chasing headlines and 'unique' features, rather than just making really good phones. Plus it would actually give Apple a run for their money.

There's that, but there's also lack of major innovation, and market saturation, there's less and less untapped customers in the US and Europe. Everyone is now focusing on India and China, yet with China, they seem to be already in a recession and are the cause of the markets to be in free fall here.

Yes, it is getting harder and harder to "WOW" the phone buyer until technology advances. Sounds like, from the rumors, Apple is going to try very hard with the iPhone 7.

All the phone makers are trying to have "the killer" feature, problem is what to try next. Getting harder and harder to WOW the phone buyers.

With the elimination of most of the subsidies and I believe less disposable income due to Healthcare, people will think twice about upgrading every year.

All the phone makers are trying to have "the killer" feature,
I could be wrong, but I think the days of killer features are over. The technology has matured to the point where there's really nothing Apple, Samsung or anyone else can do to blow the doors off of anyone when it comes to smartphones.

Apple is going to try very hard with the iPhone 7.
I'm a bit cynical - I'm expecting a thinner phone (shocking I know :p), that lacks an audio jack. I would love to see wireless charging but based on the recent rumors that might be a later model

Thinner?:(

Just do not see a reason for thinner if it sacrifices any battery capacity of structural integrity!

Hope Apple is getting over their "thin thing". But you are likely right about thinner as Apple loves to impress it's owners.

To me my 6S+ is thin enough

Even if iPhone sales had declined (which as others pointed out, they didn't) they have to at some point, regardless of the quality of device Apple puts out. Whenever it does happen, people are going to take it as a sign that Apple needs to change course, but it's just something that has to happen eventually. Sales can't increase forever. All markets are finite.

Yep, mark my words, the only reason apple wants to remove the audio jack is free up more space. I agree with you about being to thin. I mentioned this in another thread, I got my daughters iPhone 5s, and I found that model to be so much more holdable. Not just because its smaller then my 6 plus, but because there's definitely some depth to the phone.

To me the rounded edges sure make a nice looking phone, but like you the square edge seems more comfortable to hold onto, less slippery in my opinion. No way I could carry a naked 6+ or 6S+.
