sales may decline but that is because he market is saturated - when everyone already owns a smart phone it is hard to grow the market.

My 6s with 9.2.1 is the smoothest, fastest phone I've had.
There are things that people don't like about the phone - like moving files directly - are planned because of Apple's concern for security - if you can move files directly then you can easily infect phone or other hacks.

Aren't you contradicting yourself with these two sentences?

I mean if you know there are better phones out there, why stick to Apple? Are you being held at gunpoint or something?

Better specs. But that doesn't make it a better phone. Can't say the iPhone isn't well-built. There's a few quirks here and there but most of the problems are with the software.

That's not what I said at all...So not exactly.

People were tapping on it as they would have on any previous phone that could not sense pressure. It was literally an issue of them not being used to it. Not a joke, quite literally they were using it wrong. Because it was new and had to break the habit of being able to tap with any amount of force.

It has never been an issue of the tech working only sometimes, it was always how people were used to tapping the screen for 8 years prior.

Well look at that. It says I have an update, but when I tap into it, there's no update.

See? Quirky.

Quirky Quirky Quirky.

Let me restart the phone yet again. These are the kinds of things Apple people do.

The reason I really complain is because it's actually annoying. The little stuff can be the most annoying.

And an update has what to do with 3D Touch how? Which the conversation of the post you quoted was about.

This bug has been present since the original iPhone. I have submited a dozen bug reports for this issue and 8 years later it still isn't fixed. I wonder what kind of monkeys work at Apple

In 8 years you have made a dozen bug reports, and you're mad they haven't been addressed? Apple can only address so many of their internal bugs, but if you think Batman can file 12 bugs in 8 years, you're kidding yourself.

No one user can drive any development team to do anything unless the severity is really high (phone becomes unusable or dangerous to use) or the likelihood is really high (a number of users see it).

Apple must get hundreds of reports per day.

The issue isn't probably anything can can be fixed either for the "false positive" update badge. You can see in the screenshot the OP posted above. He has two apps update today (probably they updated automatically in the background.) What happens is that sometimes, very rarely an app update install doesn't completely finish (gets hung up somewhere)

Deleting the apps that updated that particular day and then re-installing them fixes the false positive update badge.

I have never had an iPhone, and I have had too many, where regular taps don't register. Ever. This is news to me.

I have had, and many others, taps that do not register. So far I have attributed this to animation sequences.
I really don't use 3D Touch.

I wouldn't be surprised if iPhone sales declined YoY in 2016. I got a 6s last fall and while I am not unhappy with it, I feel absolutely no excitement or passion about it. If not the fact that I got it for $125 with a contract renewal subsidy I would have stuck with my 5s. When it arrived the box sat in my drawer for a week before I even bothered to set it up. A number of factors are conspiring to make this a weak sales year: (in no particular order)...

The only reason I went from a 6+ to a 6S+ was RAM. Work apps and a few stock App Store ones are RAM hungry. It has been the one item I can readily say that was a significant improvement over its predecessor.

Let me correct that for you:

How to drag 'n drop songs with iTunes:

1. Install iTunes
2. Open iTunes
3. Authorize this PC
4. If 5 PCs are authorized, then reset in Apple's support page.
5. Enter apple id and password
6. Enter the security code from your credit card
7. Drag and drop files into iTunes
8. Connect iPhone to PC
9. "Update is available for your iPhone", click "Cancel"
10. Tap "Trust this Computer" on iPhone's screen
11. In iTunes, Click on "iPhone" icon
12. Click on "Music"
13. Check "Sync Music"
14. Select "Sync selected Playlists, Artists, Albums"
15. Select the actual Playlists or Albums to sync
16. Click Apply
17. Click "Sync"
18. When you are prompted to authorize purchases on this iPhone, enter your apple_id and password
19. Wait for purchases to transfer to PC
20. Wait for songs to sync

Now, try explaining all the steps above to my parents or to my wife.

How to drag'n drop songs without iTunes:

1. Find the songs.
2. Drag them to a Music folder on your device.

Do you really believe that iTunes just works? Sure it does, but with 18 more extra steps! Is this the simplicity that Apple users always tout?

That is the single biggest reason I use Google Music. I can use it anywhere on any device (iOS too). It's the Kindle of music.
iTunes.... not.
[doublepost=1455223416][/doublepost]
Even if you exclude those, it's still 16 more extra steps.

and usable only on iOS.
and if you have AM then it opens another whole ball of fun :D

Not so much severity, rather the fact is has been around for the last few OS upgrades. They can't get something simple like this fixed? Then again, maybe they do and keep rebreaking it.
It is the numerous never ending things that have gotten old. Really old.

Hard to say if it is an actual iOS issue or if it's an App Store issue or just a case of (like pretty much any software out there) of a bad install of an update. Because if you delete the app that updated that day (the bug only appears when an app updated in the background) and then re-install, the false badge is gone.

It's a pretty rare occurance, at least for me it has. I literally just had this happen for the very first and only time last week on my iPad Pro (same app update that day on my phone didn't have it happen)

Not making excuses or defending Apple, but doesn't seem like high priority if it's not something that happens to everyone or even close to often. (It may not even be an iOS or App Store issue at all and just an update gone bad and not clearing the badge as I mentioned above.)

I've heard through some podcast that Apple (like just about every company) use a bug priority system. P1, P2 and P3 is what was said that they call them. P1 being critical device/feature breaking things. Everything else gets binned to P2 and 3 based off the frequency of such bug and the severity of the bug. P1 takes up most their time and get to P2 when they can. P3 are things they rarely get time to get to because they are told to focus on P1. But it was also said when I heard about all these priority tiers they use is that they are starting to be allowed to work on the lower level P2 and P3 stuff more recently (Because it's been piling up and up over time.)

That is why it seems to take long for some small minor bugs to get fixed. They have not been allowed to work on the super minor stuff when things still sit in P1. And that is supposedly changing to they will be allowed to as of recently.

I hear you... chuckle.
If they would fix email, search, and bluetooth fixed I would be happy.
Luv the hardware but the OS is getting harder and harder to take.

I'm happy with the 6S. It's a performance beast and 3D Touch is useful, though I admit not game changing like Touch ID. Also the fact that I can actually do some work on the phone without losing everything to reloading thanks to pitiful 1GB of ram my 6+ had, makes me happy
How is touch id a game changer, it's a slightly quicker way to do the same thing than was there before. No outstanding new end result.

Kind of like keyless car door locks and ignition? Or even in a sense like sliced bread?

We know that Apple's iPhone sales are in decline. In light of this, I decided to update the community as an expression of my distaste with the product I'm holding.

That's why Apple's iPhone sales are in decline.

Sometime I have to wonder where people were educated.

It is not just Apple is it all the phone makers seeing a decline. The world's economy and ours is slowing down and so will sales of electronics. We may very well be heading into another recession so you may have seen nothing yet! Apple will survive even with your "distaste" for it's products.:p

We appreciate you coming here "as an expression of your distaste with the product you are holding" but you in the minority of people who do not like their iPhone. Just sell it and move on to a nice Android.

All? No.
Overall the market grew slightly and OEM's like Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, and others grew.
Some at a significant percentage.
There are plenty of articles and reference materials for your perusal.

Yes!

Might have grown slightly but are in decline. Stretch yourself mentally and understand that sales can decline yet still sell a few more devices than last year. The gain in cellphone sales year after year ARE in decline.:p

It doesn't matter what they say about the processor. A smaller battery equals less battery no matter what. It's not like they're increasing battery life because they're not. The decreased it. And I can notice the difference. End of story.
Today I learned that the OP has not idea what he's talking about. End of Story.

For real? Nice rhetoric though.

Flat? Yes.
In decline? No. Unless you look at it region by region or OEM by OEM. Some up, some down. Overall slightly up but flat.
The shift is regional and OEM driven.

Overall the products are good across the board and do 99% of peoples tasks without being slow and annoying like earlier models. Why upgrade handsets/iPads if its still working well after 18-36 months etc. I get new device when i need one not just on principle even though i can get one every year if i wanted.

I pass my handsets/iPads down through the family. Most devices get 4-5 years use in my household before they end up being sold for very low price or taken to charity shop.

We have 4S, 5S iPad 2/4 iPad Air 1/2 Macbook pros etc all fully in service and being enjoyed on daily basis.

I'm still on 9.0.2 on my Air2 and 6s plus (jailbreak)

2GB of ram was worth taking the S leap from regular 6+ for me,
Was really apprehensive going mature iOS 8 (came w/ 8.4) to a x.0, but it was still an upgrade on my tablet,

Everyone has an iPhone now. I can't even really sell one to anyone who doesn't already have one that would be willing to pay the higher prices that an iPhone used to sell for.
