Good idea to update the SE but definitely would have been better with A11. Seems like they had overstock of A10 or figured out a way to manufacture it for less, and then decided to update the SE instead of developing a proper road map for the device. Just what it sounds like, might not be true

there‘s also the rumor that the imac pro features an a10-chip as well. maybe that‘s their cheap goto chip now.

I hope this rumour is true - I've stuck with my SE, as a far better phone than the slippery 6/7/8/x curvy edged, sticky out camera, over-sized, expensive toys.

An updated model, with better cameras and a few added features would be an instant purchase for me, especially if it holds the bargain price of <£400... (which looks even more bargainacious now that £1000 iphones are a thing..!)

Only the shallowest most irrelevant of people think some person's level of "lameness" is in any way factored by what year their pocket phone was designed in.

I guarantee you the owners and users of such handsets, do not care.

Sorry if it wasn't clear - I was saying people who own the 6, 6+, 6S, 6S+, 7, 7+, 8, and 8+ would all feel that their devices were lame because it looks like a $349 phone. I wasn't suggesting the people who buy SEs care. I know them. I know they don't care.

I know people who own 8 and 8+, and I know some of them do care.

For their new budget phone, I think the A10 is perfectly fine. Especially if they stick with the $350 price point. It might also give them an excuse to do away with the 6S.

i just bought a 128gb SE last month glad to see it get updated, this might very well be my phone for the next few years, don't think I'd upgrade even the A9 is ridiculously overpowered for driving the SE

If they keep the same design, I'll be disappointed. The bezels are huge. But if they keep the same design, please remove the ugly headphone jack and force aux jack neanderthals into post-2014.

As an iPhone X primary user, I guess I don't care too much. But I love the smaller form factor and have an SE I use from time to time.

I know the point of the SE was the small screen and low starting price, but I'm really hoping for at least a 4.7" display. I don't use my phone enough to justify paying $899 for a new one (starting price of the latest iPhones in Canada), but after using my 6 Plus for over 3 years I also can't go back to a 4" screen.

I wonder if it'll look the same or if they'll switch to looking like a 6/6S/7/8.

It'll be a way of telling people who have a phone that looks like that that they're way behind the times and they need to upgrade to an X or they're lame.
You mean, if I don't have an X, then I am crippled? What appendage are we talking about that will not be working? I could manage losing a pinky or something...

An X SE with the same form factor but full front screen wouldn't hurt.
SE-X won't arrive until probably 2020. I see this SEries will be updated every two years and have 18 months old SoC to keep the price low.

We can't expect Apple to give it A11 and keep the price at under $500 when the 7 & 8 costs higher. The og SE getting the 6s SoC and rear camera was kinda a fluke.

I expect this SE2 to lose headphone jack though. The og SE might be the last to offer it. It will gain water/dust resistance. It will look like a smaller iPhone 8 and a slight resemblance to the 4.

We just bought our daughter an SE as her first phone. It's a great entry-level phone, and I love that she can just use her apple ID from her iPad and that I can monitor her purchases that way. She doesn't need (and didn't want) a more expensive phone, but it's handy since she's already in the Apple ecosystem.

I just hope they stop trying to kill the SE by limiting the stock. It is still a longer wait for a SE then a iPhone 7.
