iPhone SE 2 Again Rumored to Launch in First Half of 2018

If they keep the same design, I'll be disappointed. The bezels are huge. But if they keep the same design, please remove the ugly headphone jack and force aux jack neanderthals into post-2014.

Until sound quality, price and convenience compete with physical cables, I'll continue being a neanderthal thanks. I'm all for progress, but wireless headphones are worse than wired ones, that's a fact. But then I guess I am talking to the generation who also listen to music through their phone speaker, so have no concept of sound quality.

I have an iPhone SE for work purposes and it’s been more than capable for what I’ve needed it for.

A faster A chip, faster 4G/WiFi speeds and a brighter display and I’d definitely purchase one.

I personally don't mind staying on this iPhone SEries forever. This line is the only iPhone worth its asking price. No phone is really worth over $400 to me. My thumb can reach all four corners of the screen. The SE line is the MacBook Air of iPhones.

SE2 loses headphone jack but gains...

A10 Fusion
2nd gen Touch ID
Water/dust resistance
Dual front speakers
3D Touch
Wireless & fast charging
Taptic Engine (faux home button)
Front and rear cameras of the 7

Price it under $500 initially and I'm in. I can't reach all four corners of the display from the 4.7" iPhones.

SE's 1.2 MP front camera was one of its glaring weaknesses. Hoping Apple adds the 7's selfie cam for it. The 7's front cam is superior to the 8 & X.

Yes it's worth $400 but then add:
A10 Fusion
2nd gen Touch ID
Water/dust resistance
Dual front speakers
3D Touch
Wireless & fast charging
Taptic Engine (faux home button)
Front and rear cameras of the 7

And it becomes a $700 phone, therefore buy an iPhone 7.

To echo numerous other comments... Yay!

Catch the trend; 3S, 4S, 5, 5S, 6plus, 6S, SE,
(back to old 6S because SE got too slow after iOS11 and 64GB got too small for me; 6S is 128GB. 6S has horrific battery life.) The glass back of 8 looks like plastic. I love the form factor of the SE. My wish list is for better (and if possible, larger) display, and faster operation, the touch/pop that started in with 6S, and... No gimmicky, so-called features.

SE has the same internals as 6S, so if your SE got too slow it make no sense to swap it out with a 6S. Sounds more like a reinstall is needed.

Too many SKUs.

Collect them all! ;)

Hope they make it thinner

Why?

Even if they can, why do we consumers want it any thinner? If Apple can make the guts smaller, great, how about filling the freed-up space with more battery instead? And/or a better camera?

I know we're somewhat programmed by Apple to think we want "thinner" but why do we want thinner beyond that?

All I have in my head is a loop of Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast angrily screaming “YES YES YES YES...”

There are too many. Apple should get rid of the 6S and 7 as they are so similar to the 8, but they should keep the SE as it offers something different. Something I want: Small size.
To many for what?
Are you responsible for managing Apple SKUs?
If not, nothing for you to be concerned about.

As long as they get rid of the useless headphone jack then it will be a successs.

I wish they would get rid of the "useless" camera, battery and screen too. In fact, I really want Apple to get rid of ALL features that iPhone users use and sell us an empty box for about $699. Then we can buy accessories for more to put a usable phone back together again.

the se had the top notch cpu by apple at the time (a9) upon release, i hope that is the case for the next one

the a10 is fast but not as impressive as the a11

Finally, my mother will be able to upgrade her aging 5C! She loves the small size of it and doesn't want my old 6 (even for free!) because it doesn't fit in many of her pockets.

Apple has a really hard time making SE bread and butter model. I think that's mainly due to consumer being able to recognize it's made in spare parts bin so it's not worth the investment. They need to give it some soul and personality or just drop the price by another $100 and try to play entry Android competition.

What Apple really needs to do for the next one is make it 8mm wider which still is sufficient for one handed use but display size then can grow to 4.3" which is a great tradeoff for compact device.

It doesn't need the latest chip or dual cameras but at least give it some shtick of its own, why remove the jack? Why not make it a sole model in the lineup with the headphone jack? (removing headphone jack has nothing to do with water resistance). Why not even put some super loud stereo speakers on it or some midrange DSP considering that people who buy this phone are youngsters who like to rock music. Hell why not make an iPod successor out of it but this time with semi-quality audio instead of complete rubbish like previous iPods?

There are so many ways to go with SE that don't require the latest internal bells and whistles. SE's weaknesses could make a push for some really good strengths.

Interesting.
What's the above based on, Apple now breaks out SE numbers?

Understatement of the day. The current iPhone SE is the iPhone 5s with improved innards. The only difference is that the chamfered edges have lost their shiny finish. Otherwise it's EXACTLY the same device shell.
You realize the iphone 5 came before the iphone 5s yes? Why do people think iphone 5s was first?

If it ain’t broke..

This remains the best designed iPhone so far.

Says who? For all intents and purposes, the best iPhone designs were 4 and 5. And they were good for THAT time they were released. If you also want to ride a 1940s beetle because of its iconic design, go right ahead.

5S was an iteration that stuck out because of the introduction of gold, and 6 resulted in epic sales, even if it was a bit meh from the get go.
