iPhone SE 2 Predicted to Be Discontinued as Rumors Remain All Over the Map [Update: Corrected]

As a person using a modern Android phone, Pixel 2XL doesn’t just get slower over time. Something is wrong with it if it just slows down.
What are they doing wrong with the display units? It has to be a software thing since the hardware won't get slower no matter what abuse it takes. My iPhone certainly gets slower from software updates, and any apps running in the background on either platform have to be using cycles.

You have a phone that sits on for pretty much always running, usually at least, display software on top of everything. Then you have everyone coming up and using it.

Even an iPhone needs that be restarted every once in a while if you want peak performance.

well that update clears things up lol!

They don't seem to want any of my money anymore...

I'm on a 2015 MacBook Pro and iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7 and I see no reason to upgrade any of them and actively do not want any of their phones now (all too big).
[doublepost=1531271280][/doublepost]Now I'm learning how it feels to be a Mac Mini fan

That is not a bad thing! Just look at it like Apple is saving you money. That is how I feel about their laptops! My 2013 is running smoothly (and yours is even newer than mine!)

Disappointing. It wouldn’t be so bad if this rumor hadn’t been percolating for so long. Seems like it’s taking Apple ages to debut new hardware.

For now it's ok...that will not last forever is the problem

Have been so many rumors about SE, contradictory ones. I don't believe any of them.

We'll see soon enough, where it actually will point.
Either they will keep SE or discontinue SE and come up with a more modern 4" phone.
Call it SE or Xsmall, or whatever.
There's a need for a small phone. Apple know it.

A couple years ago I decided to give the Plus series a try with a iPhone 7 Plus. I love the portrait-mode camera and I like that in landscape Safari gives me actual tabs.

But I don't like the thing in my pocket. It's too big and heavy. I was planning to get an iPhone SE 2 because when I'm out I don't need a large screen; this rumour is disappointing.

Seriously Apple, just put an A11 in the current model and call it a day. Everyone will be happy.
Not everyone.

Simplified lineup: iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone 9 (with faceID), iPhone X.

I never understand why consumers advocate for less options. I understand why corporate leadership advocates for it, but not consumers. So which one are you? And don't say "shareholder".

Sad when you look at the design. Apple achieved greatness in that period with a timeless design for the ages - yes, Aleni, like a Leica camera. With nothing but uncomfortably big paddles now, I will only settle for my next phone.

Apple changed from a brand that keeps giving surprises to becoming a brand that keeps giving disappointments...

So instead of complaining, why not utilize other options from competitors? It doesn’t stop Apple from making some of the best products in the tech industry given their success as a company. Not to mention, we don’t know the validity behind every rumor either.

That iPhone 5 design still look great.
Sure, if it's a Slate Black iPhone 5 paired with iOS 6:

Been wanting to get one of these in new or like-new condition. Unfortunately the Slate Black wears out very fast, and Apple refuses to provide downgrade rights for the ones running iOS 7+, so that does rule out most of the cheaper used ones.

It's not like the Android phones are any better. The only small ones are obscure, and obscure Android phones are both sucky and insecure. Even the iPhone-6-sized Google Pixel is significantly worse (with its lag and blue tinted screen) than the giant-sized version.

False:
Sony has continually built Xperia Compact lineups that is 4" ... currently the XZ Compact is 4.2/4.5" i's not sucky it's using top of the line parts and features and quite secure as Android can get. hardly any bloat and no maleware shipped. Unfortunately you cannot purchase in North America from carriers you have to import it or seek an importer that carries it. I'll not use an Android phone again if I have a choice with updated iPhones, at least for the very long foreseeable future.

I had an iPhone 5s with iOS6 on it a few weeks back in 10/10 unlocked condition. Updated and well gave it to my cousin.

Might buy another shrink wrapped SE "just in case" mine dies or something. Mine hasn't slowed down or anything, but it's outside of its 2 years warranty now and if I lose it or something...

guess there'll always be second hand ones to keep me going

The phone I really want is one about the size and shape of the iPhone 4, with all the latest goodies (CPU, RAM, camera, AR, etc), with an extensible screen that slides smoothly out to the side when needed.

So slide the screen extension out to the side and your 3.5" 2:3 (640x960) portrait screen, becomes a 6" 16:9 (1706/960) landscape screen.

Could also go with a 5/SE sized phone and have your 4" 9:16 (640x1136) portrait screen become, for instance, a 7.33" 1.85:1 (2101x1136) landscape screen (standard movie ratio, slightly wider than 16:9).

Sadly, that's still in the realm of science fiction.
The iPhone 4S was compact and functional. A quite brilliant design the likes we will never see again.
