iPhone 15 still is on sale with A16. It will be weird to have the SE with A18.
The 14 is already being discontinued in Europe as of January 1st. It is likely to go away in the U.S. as soon as the new SE comes out. The awkwardness of having both the new SE and 15 on sale at the same time will likely be cured when the 17 series is unveiled in later 2025. The 15 can go away at that point. Another possibility: the base 15 and 15 Air get 8GB of RAM after the SE comes out. But the SE would still be superior in other ways. I think the 15 goes away next fall - Apple wants all of its devices going forward to work with AI.

Whatever the price is, it will be reasonable given Apple’s history. Just like the current SE which has 3 year old processor in an 8 year old design that sells for the same price that it debuted at in 2022.

Apple doesn’t care about reasonable pricing. It’s all about increasing their profit margins. The new SE will be $599!

To be competitive with AI, Apple has to offer powerful hardware even in a SE device. At current SE pricing they cannot implement an 3nm SOC, so they have to find a way to justify a price increase - this will be the rumored iPhone Air. It will be thin as thinness doesn’t cost anything and have only 1 camera, which is fine for SE users.

No way they are increasing RAM on an old SoC
iPhone 14 is discontinued only because EU regulations require an USB C port.

We’ve seen this headline “next iPhone could be more expensive” for a couple/few years now… and thus far? So let’s wait until Apple announces it

Guessing £479 and base 128GB, no longer seeing 64GB across the iPhone lineup. Same price as current SE 128GB (2022).

iPhone SE will be priced at $499, which will put the (in many ways worse) iPhone 14 in a somewhat strange position at $599. However, if it’s not discontinued on the same day as the SE announcement, the 14 will be sent out to pasture with its slot taken by the iPhone 15 by the September event. This is ideal, since the 15 has visible and clear improvements over the new SE (such as the Dynamic Island).

The SE will be the best “deal” or value-prop in the iPhone lineup until September 2026, when the iPhone 16 will take the bargain slot above the SE at $599 and be a worthwhile upgrade for just one hundred dollars more. And so it will go until the SE gets upgraded to the fifth gen sometime around 2028.

Well, the current iPhone SE wasn’t really better than iPhone 12, when introduced in 2022, so I wouldn’t bet the new SE will be better than iPhone 14, except maybe for the SoC

I disagree, AI shouldn’t be included in the SE Device.
