There will be no real reason (for 98% of people) to get any other iPhone then. Not the 16 (which is still a 12). Not the 16 Pro (which isn't really a pro and is basically a 12). Exceptions are the larger models for the larger screens.

Looks like a great package and looks like an iPhone and EVERYTHING you need in one.

I can also see this SE 4 being a huge disappointment by launching with a combo of A18 in an iPhone 14 design but the rest of the specs are closer to iPhones 14 and 15. Then topped off with a single rear camera, USB-C, and Face ID notch.

Among other things, this would mean 6GB RAM and no Apple Intelligence instead of the rumored 8GB.

Apple would sell SE 4 at the same $429 as the last SE.

It’s worth noting that no previous SE has matched the RAM or storage of the current $799 mid-tier it launched next to.

By keeping SE 4 specs closer to iPhones 14 and 15 combined with an A18 SoC, iPhones 15 will still have good sales arguments.

Did Gurman ever verbatim claim that SE 4 would get the 8GB RAM that everyone in here seems to think is a given?

128GB storage is a given to me as that was what iPhones 14 had as the baseline.

But I’m not so sure about 8GB RAM.

Maybe this is much more about just putting out a USB-C version of iPhone 14 than actually offering an inexpensive but solid alternative to iPhones 16?

I get a feeling the selloff will be 64GB storage... hopefully not.
iPhones 13 and 14 launched with 128GB storage. So that’s unlikely to me.

But the idea that SE 4 is getting Apple Intelligence and 8GB RAM may likely be mistaken.

I do expect it to get 128GB storage and A18.

But would Apple really kill most iPhones 15 sales by giving SE 4 8GB RAM and AI? I don’t see it.

I feel this SE 4 is mostly about putting out a new budget-tier iPhone with USB-C so that Apple has an option that’s priced below iPhones 15 and 16 that doesn’t violate the new EU USB-C legislation.

A conservatively upgraded iPhone 14 with A18, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, USB-C, Face ID, and starting at $429, no Apple Intelligence support.

Same amount of ram as the pros that cost 2 grands . Apple are real cheap ****s . Especially since calling up the AI takes 3gb and kicks programs in the background .

They really should have put 12gb in the 16 pros . If they did I would have bought it . But a device that's already limited by its ram at launch, and that will get even more limited... eh
Because if they put 12gb of RAM in all devices going forward then they can’t cut off off software wise by older devices not being able to handle certain things

Expecting a price of $449 or $499. Should be a good iPhone. Think it will have only two or three colour choices. Not expecting to see dynamic island on the SE.
The current iPhone 14 is on sale from 599 so can’t really see it being that cheap what they might do is just pull the old se & 14 models from their lineup

Yes because from a business sense it makes sense to offer Apple intelligence on the new SE because the 15’s will probably be getting removed within the next 12 months anyway

While the iPhone se4 looks like a good phone I wonder if people will be able to tell the difference between it and the iPhone XR 😂🤣
Right I don’t get your point because the xr came out in 2018 & it’s still works to this day. If it’s about design you could because say it looks like the same since iPhone 12 Pro

Well in pictures if you put both side by side they pretty much have a similar design and putting a case on it would be hard to tell the difference between them because both have one camera on the back and both 6:1 screen with a notch!

Right but it’s been essentially the same design on the flagships since iPhone 12 Pro apart from the island it’s the same shape & same camera layout all your highlighting is Apple doesn’t actually change much in design as they used too

Apple accounts for the blind with Face ID. Your iPhone guides you in setting it up, and there's a setting to not require looking directly at the phone to unlock it if you're using VoiceOver, which would be useful for someone who has prosthetic eyes. I have the require attention setting enabled though, been using it for years.
Great info. Thanks indeed. R

There's no reason for Apple to not use 120hz screen other than pure greed. My eyes can see the stuttering now when scrolling a 60hz screen. Nowadays, even cheap midrange Androids have nice quality screens with 120hz.
They probably won’t offer it because they need another reason to separate it from the flagships

No thanks, I adore the size, Touch ID, and notchless screen. I'll be keeping this 3rd-gen SE for a while longer. Maybe I'll upgrade when the iPhone 20 comes out and I stop yelling at clouds.
I don’t think they will bring back Touch ID but U agree with you about getting rid of the notch and dynamic island.

There was never a touch id and face id iPhone from the same generation. If you wanted a newer phone, you HAD to get face id. That’s not really the market deciding that face id is better. That’s apple deciding that face id is better.
iPhone 8 / 8 Plus and X are from the same generation. Same internals, same everything except for screen and Face ID.

The iPhone X outsold the 8 and 8 Plus combined by a wide margin.

So yes, the market has spoken.

so what if your face is covered?
Then Face ID fails, and a numeric keypad appears onscreen into which you enter your six-digit passcode. If you're wearing gloves, you take off one of your gloves, as you would have to do with Touch ID, to enter your passcode. If you're not wearing gloves since you have no fingers, then you use the tip of your nose. If you don't have a nose, then how do you smell?

Nobody and I mean NOBODY needs that.
I'm definitely not a fan. Whenever 5G is enabled on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I immediately experience headaches. I hope Apple and carriers will continue to improve the option to toggle 5G on and off, or better yet, consider sticking with LTE until more research is conducted on the potential health effects of 5G
