That’s no guarantee. Apple had 14+ years to make Siri workable. Look what we’ve got 😅. Fingers crossed 🤞that's 5+ years ago, Apple had time to get this straight.

I have to believe that Apple tested this new iPhone with their first gen homemade modem thoroughly and won’t release it if it’s noticeably inferior to an iPhone with a Qualcomm modem inside. Tim wouldn’t do that to his loyal customers. Would he?I wish Apple the best, but the homemade modem will be based on the tech they bought from Intel. The Intel models were horrible when Apple last used them. Poor reception in low signal areas. Qualcomm all the way here.

if you take photos ... second camera vs apple intelligence worth at least 100$ ... would have been 200$ if 48 mpix ...Compared to the base 15 you lose a second camera and dynamic island, but gain an updated chipset and the ram to run apple intelligence, and save $200. I'd actually take the SE4 over the 15. It may even cannibalise a lot of the sales from the 16.
Incorrect. Many are sold due to the size.SE3's continue to sell despite it having the guts of an iphone 13 inside the body of an iphone 8 only because it's cheap.
People buying the SE don’t care about signal quality? Uhhhhhh okay champ lolPeople buying an SE don’t care.
That probably has more to do with the 13 mini having a better main lens rather than the fact it has an extra one. If I recall correctly the SE camera is the same one from the iPhone 8, although it still takes better pictures than the 8 due to the updated internals and software.I have a 13 Mini I'm looking to upgrade in the near future, but it's all going to come down to the price difference between this SE4 and the base 16. I bought 2 SEs in the past and was happy with them, but the 2nd camera on the 13 Mini has been really meaningful even though I don't take a million photos. I went to dinner with a friend who had an SE3. We took the same exact photo but mine came out ten times better using the 13 Mini.
Having said that, I don't relish the idea of paying $799 for a 16 just to get an extra camera if this SE4 is $499 or less.
This is very true. And yeah wide angle cameras for consumer phones are way overrated. But what I'll say is Apple sometimes has awkward product overlaps. It's like when an iPad Air has a refresh that gives it a better chip than the iPad Pro. For a few months in this case the iPhone SE 4 will be basically a flagship device at lower prices. But they'll keep this model up for ~3 years. Starting Fall it'll become an older model, and then in the following years it'll still be olderI still think Apple is going to have a hard time justifying the $300 difference between the SE 4 and iPhone 16. An extra camera (most people aren't using), camera control button (not going to say much more here but... mehh). Outside of this? Internals are going to be the exact same. I just don't see it.
Comparing the rumored SE 4 vs iPhone 16
- Essentially same frame
- same CPU
- same RAM
- same base 128GB storage
- same Apple Intelligence
- same screen and paltry 60hz refresh
- more than likely very similar battery life
- Notch vs Dynamic Island
- Apple Modem vs Qualcomm (too early to tell)
- camera button (not really the needle mover for most people)
- extra camera (i'd be willing to bet most people aren't using - and if you are, you bought the Pro/Max)
This basically says Dynamic Island, Camera Button, and extra camera most people don't use is worth $300 more?? Am I missing something?
Got a battery replacement for my SE 2020 during the Summer, should last another 4 years now. Next one in 2028 🤞 Touch ID club!Just get the battery replaced? Most repair shops can do it (particularly on the older iphones) and you can always pay apple’s ridiculous price if you want it done there, and it will still be loads cheaper than the SE.
I’ve replaced my 8+ battery three times now, and it is working amazingly well still. Touch ID club unite! (Both of us)
And this is why I don't believe we will see any regular iPhone 17 models. There will only be the Pro models and the 'Air'.This is very true. Go stand in an Apple Store and ask 99.9% of consumers if they know the difference between an intel and Qualcomm modem in their phone.People buying the SE don’t care about signal quality? Uhhhhhh okay champ lol
Amazing! Can’t wait to buy it and use it mainly for my iEMs plus the DAC dongle a beautiful secondary phone.
Apple's next-generation iPhone SE could debut as soon as next week with a launch to follow later in February, reports Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Apple isn't expected to hold an event for the iPhone SE 4, and will instead unveil the device through a press release.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to have an iPhone 14-style design, with Apple eliminating the thick bezels and Touch ID Home button of the current iPhone SE. When the iPhone SE 4 launches, it will mark the end of Touch ID in the iPhone lineup.
Apple is planning to unveil its custom in-house modem in the iPhone SE 4, and it will be the first iPhone to get the new modem chip. While Apple's modem chip won't be as advanced as Qualcomm's modem chips, it will be Apple's first step toward cutting down on its reliance on Qualcomm.
The iPhone SE 4 will support Apple Intelligence, and it will be equipped with the same A18 chip that's in the iPhone 16 and 8GB RAM. It will also have a USB-C port, allowing it to be sold in Europe again, and it is expected to feature a single-lens 48-megapixel rear camera.
While the current iPhone SE is priced at $429, Apple could increase the price of the new model due to the inclusion of the faster chip, Face ID, and other features. Pricing is expected to remain below $500 though, so that the iPhone SE 4 is competitive with lower-end smartphones from Samsung and Google.
Gurman suggests that Apple will unveil the iPhone SE 4 around the same time as the new PowerBeats Pro 2 earbuds, which Apple plans to unveil as soon as February 11.

I am holding on to upgrade my mini a bit more - not that I think a new mini will come.I have a 13 Mini I'm looking to upgrade in the near future, but it's all going to come down to the price difference between this SE4 and the base 16. The problem as I've understood it has mostly been related to 5G.Be careful touting Apple having "solved" the Intel modem issues
If they'd truly solved it, they'd already have their own modems in all the other iPhones
There's probably a reason they are going with the SE for their first one ... if it's "just ok", the SE buyer is a good stop to dump the tech onto and see how it goes
Bean counters like to keep all the beans and they're still giving beans to Qualcomm for some reason
Incorrect. All rumors point to 8 gigs. The fact this will have 16GB Ram and Apple AI really annoys me as a iPhone 15 owner.
