I would be interested if had a 5.7" screen and a camera that isn't garbage. That would be the sweet spot for me, I don't need the latest processor or telephoto lenses, I just want a phone that isn't massive and has a mid-range camera.

In short: The iPhone SE 4 will adopt the WORST iPhone design of the past century and probably pick up a ~20% price increase along the way. Good luck with that. I’d have considered this had they decided to use the iPhone X/XS design

The current third-generation iPhone SE is Apple's smallest device, modeled after the iPhone 8.
While the iPhone SE has the smallest screen at 4.7" the iPhone 13 Mini is physically the smallest phone.

iPhone SE: Height 5.45 inches (138.4 mm), Width 2.65 inches (67.3 mm)
iPhone 13 Mini: Height 5.18 inches (131.5 mm), Width 2.53 inches (64.2 mm)

I would expect a price around $549 for this new SE.
A $120 increase from current starting price of an iPhone SE 3 is not going to happen. For $50 more, you can get a 1 year old (and better, IMO) former semi-flagship. By the time this comes out in (rumored) 2024, the iPhone 14 will probably be discounted to around $599 like how the iPhone 13 Mini is now.

$449 or $479 is more likely than $549.

I don't think it will be 6.1" as I don't think Apple would have 3 iPhones the same size.
Seriously hope not. It would be 3 different price points of the same (huge) size, and nothing for anything smaller. Dark days ahead for smaller phone lovers. It’s already dark days for really small phone lovers, so it will be even darker for them.

It’ll be A17. It’ll jump up two generations each time because there’s a two-year gap between SE releases. A13 on 2020, A15 on 2022, A17 on 2024.

Lol, how do you publish such an article and not comment on what connector it will likely have?

Since Apple is now tiering the main iPhone lineup with 2 SoCs (Pro with latest, non-Pro with -1 gen), I doubt Apple would use the A17 on the SE. It will highly likely to be the A16.

1. It's a pity that Apple only remembers the SE as a low-cost alternative and help to overcome certain market entry barriers, but not as a small and practical travel device.
I own their early really small 4'' as my 2nd iPhone, and I am always thrilled about its fantastic integration density.

At least the change to Touch ID power button makes some sense. But in general, unfortunately, nowadays SE device is too big and thus too boring for me.
It has just become a market-strategic device for developing countries.

Apple has followed the lead of other manufacturers who realized that larger displays can be sold for more money. And discontinued their idea that small can also be something particularly very useful.

2. Of course, I'm still hoping for an SE Ultra that can be equipped for real photo pros, where you can screw on Four Third interchangeable lenses, and whose computing performance will then consign all current Canon, Nikon, Sony cameras to the museum. If the device is thicker for more battery power, it wouldn't matter, but it would have to be as small as the first SE to fit in your pocket.
I have already seen several test variants for such phones in China on the Internet, it is sad that Apple does not do this. This way, they might miss out on a highly exciting market, as they did with DJI stuff, which can ultimately only be won technically and not generated by market strategy.

Yeah that tiering bs didn’t work out too well for Apple this year. Nobody cares about the non-Pros with last year’s chip. We might not see that nonsense stick around next year.
