MagSafe. Apple doesn’t receive licensing revenue for third-party USB-C cables and accessories.
They wouldn’t from qi2 chargers either would they?

Although ironically qi2 device manufactures would be paying a fee to the WPC instead.

Don’t USBC device manufacturers pay a license fee for USB?

iPhone 15 will be discontinued in a few months anyway.
By the way, every week there is a different rumor, so at this point the new SE could be very different from what we think.

Apple isn't about to voluntarily condense their lineup when iPhone sales are struggling. At the end of the day, people care about cameras, otherwise the Pro/Max wouldn't sell. Having a phone with a single rear camera in 2025 is an embarrassment. Some people don't care, but most do.

Think it will be notch. Not an issue but would have liked to see dynamic island across the lineup. iPhone SE models are not refreshed yearly and so the notch will remain for many years to come.

From a visual design standpoint you are 100% wrong. The curvature of the sides of the notch would look atrocious as it expanded to show what the Dynamic Island shows. No way. Also considering the fact that the notch extends to the top…you’d either have the prompt connected to the top (ugly and bizarre) or you have the top portion of the notch sticking out from the top of the prompt. NO WAY.
There have been concept videos of the notch made to work like the Dynamic Island…and it looks good. You’re 110% wrong.

The SE is a useless product if it's going to have the same size as regular iPhone.
You're simply better off buying 2 year old model for better features around the same price.
You're aware that in the EU, the iPhone 15 is the oldest iPhone they are allowed to sell due to the USB-C regulations, right? There literally is no 2 year old iPhone to buy here (especially when existing supplies dry up).

The dynamic island is the most overrated thing about any iPhone, ever. Yes it looks cooler and more high tech than the notch, but it's not a feature.

I think what the iPhone SE absolutely needs is:

1) Better battery life
2) A chip that supports Apple Intelligence
3) MagSafe
4) USB-C
I could skip MagSafe. Sure, I use it occasionally on my desk, but if it lowered costs or allowed for a bigger battery… get rid of it. It’s just not efficient enough to justify.

Lol imagine being so insecure that you genuinely think “most people” care about how many cameras your phone has.

Imagine debating something so obvious.

Yeah, nobody cares about looks. That's why nobody buys fashion, wears makeup, or knows who Jony Ive is. When people buy Apple Watch Hermes, it's purely for function.

Apple you became such a lame company, profit is your only focus. Furthermore you forgot about the Apple way. Reduced feature set, simplicity and a focus on details

Look at how Samsung and Google did their VR glasses (super simple setup, the lenses focus themselves and so on) and you know how the Vision Pro would have worked, if Jobs would have been responsible.

I wish they'd remove the notch, dynamic island and face id on the se and have the touch id on the power button like it works on the ipad with a full screen without these needless black notches islands or circles

You need a quarter-inch bezel to accommodate the front camera and proximity sensor. Nobody wants that bezel all around for a phone. iPad Air isn't full screen. It has a half-inch bezel all around.

Fair enough, but touch id under the screen should have been achieved by now. I don't even use face id on my iphone 14, I'm not being forced into having to get into the habit look at my phone to unlock it

USB-C is completely royalty-free. Although companies who pay an annual fee to join the USB-IF can use the official USB logos on product packaging, etc.
I suppose that’s just like MFI. You don’t need to pay anything to create lightning or qi2 chargers but you do if you want your device certified.

Touch ID has been replaced by Face ID nearly 8 years ago now.

It was hard for me to believe Apple would jeopardize there iPhone 16 lineup by putting Dynamic Island and Apple Intelligence on there budget iPhone SE lineup. They have to keep a wide gap apart feature wise and price wise.
As always, the “leakers” throw us off with their “16E” nonsense just to get clicks and mentions.

A single camera, USB-C, 6.1” iPhone 14 with Face ID, 8/128, and Apple Intelligence is more than enough value/$ to impress buyers while not hurting iPhone 16 sales.

The whole business model of SE is utilizing the high value and demand of Apple’s latest SoC by putting it an older iPhone model and offering it at a (almost) half off price.

Adding much more value would not increase SE sales significantly but risk cutting into profits and hurt sales of more expensive iPhones.

A spec bumped, single-camera iPhone 14 is what it’s going to be, nothing less, nothing more.

You... you genuinely think that the average person is going to judge somebody because their phone has "only" one camera lens? C'mon dude lol

I actually like the notch better, both visually and practically. The fluid movement within the blorb is distracting. It’s easier when notifications come at a static point, for me at least. I need time to cognitively asses what’s happening with the blorb. Static just takes a glance. But mostly I like the harder edges vs the organicness of the blorb.
