People really consider a 0.7" bigger screen as a phablet? Man Steve Jobs made u believe everything he said. Have u actually ever compared the 6s to se or 5?

I genuinely think Apple is taking advantage of people who favor a smaller phone by selling them a sub par iPhone. the screen is smaller. That alone should be enough to offer it at a lower price. Did they have to exclude 2 hardware features also?
A slightly larger screen doesn't increase the price of the phone by $250. The profit margins on the iPhone SE are much lower than that on an iPhone 6s.

Apparently I'm the only one who cares about Apple ripping people like you off by offering you the size you want in 2016 with the hardware from 2015. It's alright I guess.

Most phone users need the following from their smartphone:

Email
Voice calls
Messaging
Web browser
Music
News
Facebook and other social apps
GPS/maps
YouTube/light movie watching
Camera
FaceTime/Skype

These comprise the basic essentials and guess what...the SE does them all decently well (or at least adequately), plus it has at least as good battery life as the 6s and in many use cases, rivals or exceeds the 6s+ battery.

Apple is really ripping their customers off, big-time with this phone, aren't they?

The truth of the matter is, they would love to sell you a 6s/6s+. The SE was basically a concession to all the 4" iPhone users out there who refused to get with the program and buy the larger phones.

Save your pity and "concern" that Apple is rippling SE owners off. You're full of ****.

I think you resent the fact that Apple made this phone. Witness the "concern" you voice that the SE will be updated the same as the 6s. Seems more like scaremongering.

Hope Apple doesn't release a iPhone 7 SE this year because you will end up being the angry one not me.
I agree with you. apple is ripping it's customers off with iphone SE.
Hard to read E-books on a 4"inch screen. Hard to play games, hard to type a message. Hard to do video editing.

Only apple and phone case manufacturer will benefit from this. Not you.
If you like to give your hard earned money give it to the poor people and poor country.
Rich people getting more rich.
and poor people getting more poor.

Benefits of a powerful CPU is for video editing and playing games. For 4inch screen it's very hard to do this. So what's the benefit of a powerful CPU if you can't use it properly.?

Thx man. The launcher is nova launcher with the icon pack clix, both independently downloaded from the Google store.
You're lucky, I wasn't able to jailbreak during the time I had the 6s/+

Lol, just goes to show that beauty is in the eye of the beholder... my 1st thought was: "PUKE!!! Omg, I wouldn't EVER let a screen get so disgusting & cluttered. To my eyes, it's like someone dumped a trash can out on your home screen. Even with iOS, I'd use folders. Having the power and customization options of Android and STILL choosing to have a screen look that peppered with haphazard icons is abhorrent to me. I literally can't wrap my head around how you people's minds work. It reminds me of the old days when your "tech dummy grandpa's" Windows desktop would get littered with Adobe Acrobat shortcuts & garbage like that until it gave you a headache looking at the screen, with its dozens of pointless icons cluttering up the carefully chosen background, lol. All because he had no inkling of what those icons were & was afraid to delete them because he thought his computer would break. That's EXACTLY what your screen looks like to me.... like it was done that way accidentally.
No offense.
Lol, actually go ahead... take a teeny bit of offense & clean up that HORRID desktop/home screen!!! =P

Apple is not ripping people off. The only meaningful thing that I wish they had taken from the S model is the FFC. And since I paid 750$ for my other phone, with less storage, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

It's not really a "ripoff" if you are satisfied with (or really want) what you're getting. 4-inch iPhone users choose to use a 4-inch screen, which was good enough for all iPhone users until the iPhone 6. It has it's own advantages too like one-handed use, or the iPhone 5s design (if you prefer it).

I like the iPhones SE suits me does what I wanna do. Thats the end of it. I don't wanna big phone am going from 4s, yeah, ancient I know, but the SE is good enough for me. I don't read books on it (who does, daft), I don't FaceTime or Skype, I take occasional pictures but I use DSLRs anyway so of I snap on the fly then SE is fine.

Basically, i love the Apple interface and I happy with the SE the processor and the 2gb Ram makes moving between apps quick and fluid. Its ace.

Stop moaning mate. Not ripping me off. I don't mind the iPhone. Who wants to squint their eyes and read books on a phone iPhone 6s plus isn't even big enough for that. Hard to play games... fair doos mate i don't play games. Hard to video edit? oh yeah, better uploading yer files to pc do it that way lots more options. Creating movies with slick editing is not what iPhone is good at. Its a phone.. with add ons to keep us all entertained.

The power of CPU is that everything is more responsive switching between apps, making video, multitasking without it grinding to a halt. Its not just for games, some people don't buy phones to just play games or what read books on a small phone... madness that mate.

I will benefit from this mate, its an upgrade for me and buying it to out right and not tied down on a contract for 24 months saves me £300 and I will give that charity.

okay.

How about no?

Lol, I wish it wasn't true...
But that setup is FUGLY!!!!!
Someone had to say it.
It's not sensical at all... just a smattering of random apps. The messaging/communication apps aren't in a folder.... or clustered near each other... or even close, lol.
Same with the social media apps, etc.
Just spread in an ugly, messy, hideous, nonsensical, drunken grid.
It is EXACTLY like the Windows desktop I described.

You might not see a scheme behind it, this is how I like it, this is how I used my iPhone before and I hate folders and an app drawer. I use my phone primary one handed, the more frequently used apps are localised better reachable with one thumb. It's chaos for you for me it's my smartphone how I want it to be. And there is nothing you can do about it peace

Front Facing Camera.

man, they even shortchanged that as well? 5MP Front facing camera on the 6S and only 1.2MP on the SE? I'm surprised Apple didn't just hand customers a handful of components and say "here's your SE. the casing isn't included"

Really? You're going to act so indignant about Apple offering a good budget phone? Lacking 3D Touch isn't huge. The resolution is good enough. Why are you so angry about a phone you'll never buy?

I like how people saying the iPhone SE is too small to use are pretending like the iPhone didn't have an even smaller 3.5" display for FIVE years, and then a display only a little taller for two more years. What did people even do with a useless phone for so long?

He's upset he overpaid for his phone and all he got was a better selfie camera and a few gimmicks, so he's taking his frustration out on those who saved money and are happy with their purchase.

Because he resents the SE.

Why else would he attempt to scaremonger us with an insinuation that Apple may not provide SE owners with the same length of updates as 6s owners.

And can you get any more melodramatic than him saying "Why didn't Apple hand customers a handful of components..." bit from his most recent post.

It's insane that people are spending $400.00 on an iPhone in 2016 that has less hardware than last year's iPhone 6S (no force touch screen, no barometric pressure sensor) and comes in a smaller screen size with a new iPhone coming in only a few months.

iOS 10 is coming this year and I'm almost certain Apple will introduce a lot more force touch enabled features with it. my iPhone 6+ (which will be 3 years old) will not be able to take advance of those features and neither will the SE (current year release).

I guess some people are willing to sacrifice a lot just to have a small phone.

but....the 6+ isn't even two years old yet....

hmm *counts on fingers*, you're right. I counted wrong.

I think this year will be the first time I haven't upgraded my iPhone every 2 years because carrier contracts went away :( (it was a no brainer to pay $299 and stay with Verizon for another 2 years because I was happy with them).

the iPhone 7+ needs to be something pretty special for me spend $850.00 cash again (I refuse to make installments on my monthly bill). If not, let's hope iOS 10 runs decent on my what I have now.

iOS 10 should run just fine and it'll probably have every major feature (that isn't reliant on new hardware) at least. I mean the 5s got every iOS 8 and 9 feature that isn't hardware specific (so Apple Pay updates and touch ID) except for Live Photos, so I'm sure the 6+ will have full iOS 10 support.

Well if it does I may hold out for that rumored *glass back* 10th anniversary edition iPhone 8 unless the iPhone 7 has some worthwhile features.

I wonder what people fantasize what new features ios 10 will add to 3d touch?

In my opinion this feature will not be improved, maybe they even don't put it in the next phone generation, as the se and the pad pro did not get it. Okay, in the se the form factor might be the reason, but if apple had any illusions about the technique, they would have added this surely to their flagship pad they just brought up.

Also the new touch had absolutely no impact on the market. This feature is of non interest for 99% of all buyers.

I believe apple uses the se to migrate to lower cost markets, as the flagship market is dying. They see that in their own models, and you can see this in the android market too, where the people in majoruty buy in the class about 300 dollars and falling.

So they will bring up one or two new generations and then they will stop the phone evolution and just bring cosmetic changes. Nobody cares for mega pixels or processor cores, even the nerds fall asleep over these points.

The future is about security updates, basically the os, as anybody shifts over to mobile payment etc..

What's the competition for the SE? If you like iOS there is no alternative.

Lastly please understand that for some people one handed use is the top priority and sacrificing a few features is a compromise. This is the best 4" phone for me and many others, that's all that matters.

I went from a 6S 64GB to an SE 64GB and I have no regrets. Albeit I don't FaceTime/selfie, I don't use fitness features, or 3D Touch. I have no interest in 4K video, when my video is only watched on my phone and my friends phones once sent via whatsapp.

I do hope they release an updated version with a higher quality screen (yellow tint etc). Resolution is fine.

$500 is nothing! I bought 6s+ 64 gb and 128 gb I spent well over 2k....wish they were 500 to 700...but hey!

I don't really understand what is so hard about reading on a 4" screen, the text size are adjustable in iBooks or there is a reader mode in safari...
