Likely-accurate battery and RAM specifications for the new iPhone SE surfaced this morning in a Chinese Telecom spec sheet (via IndiaShopps).

Apple announced the new-generation iPhone SE yesterday, touting its 4.7-inch display, Touch ID Home button, A13 Bionic chip, wireless charging and $399 starting price.

However, in typical fashion, Apple didn't disclose the new phone's battery capacity or RAM. Teardowns of the device should reveal these details in the coming days, but until then we have to trust that carrier listings are accurate.

China Telecom's listing claims that the new iPhone SE features 3GB of RAM. For comparison, the iPhone 11 series feature 4GB of RAM, suggesting Apple has put less memory in the iPhone SE to match the lower requirements of its single lens camera and other hardware capabilities.

According to the listing, the new iPhone SE has the same 1,821 mAh battery capacity as the iPhone 8, which it has effectively replaced in Apple's lineup. Given that Apple says the iPhone SE lasts "about as long as the iPhone 8," that number also sounds about right.

Apple claims up to 13 hours video playback and up to 8 hours streaming video on a single charge of its new iPhone SE. By comparison, the iPhone 11 battery offers 17 hours video playback and up to 10 hours streaming.

The iPhone SE comes in black, white and (PRODUCT)RED, and pricing starts at $399 in the United States with 64GB of storage, with 128GB and 256GB options available for $449 and $549 respectively. It will be available for pre-order beginning at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, April 17. The device will also be available for purchase at select Apple Authorized Resellers and carriers starting Friday, April 24 in the United States and more than 40 other countries and regions.

i disagree, but I agree that there won’t be many people upgrading from the 8 to it. It’s mostly for people in the 6/6s/7 world. From that realm it’s a fantastic upgrade at a fantastic price.

In Europe, it's between 479 and 499 euros, in my opinion, it is worthy to put a bit more and get the Xr
It's a nice update, the same kind of update between the 2018 iPad Pro and the 2020, you get more for less, always nice

Disappointed with the battery life. I thought with the 3D Touch removal, there would be a slight increase, even if it was just 1/2 hours. The battery life on the 8 is just shocking.

It's the same design as the 6S which the hump case was subsequently released for.

No it's not, but that's not who it's for. The SE2 is mainly targeted for the 6-7 range of customers. The 6 has already lost support after IOS 12. You can't even use WatchOs 6 on it! The SE2 is a great value and it's what I would go for had I not purchased an 11 months ago.

They are substantial user upgrade from 6, 6s, 7 to iPhone 8 a few years ago and that demographic barely exist anymore.

Honestly, it's not worth upgrading over the iPhone 8.
I kind of agree, but there are some circumstances where this cheap but decent upgrade is really welcome. I have an 8 and my partner has an SE which is on its last legs. If I upgrade to the new SE and my partner gets my 8 it works out pretty well for both of us, for a relatively low cost.

To me this is a phone for:
- new users
- old SE users
- users who have much older phones and cannot afford or want to spend much

do NOT use the wireless charging on it :)
I have an iPhone 11 Pro max and I use only the 5V small charger.
My wife started using wireless charging on hers and her battery health dropped 4%. Mine is still at 100%

Even on the new SE I would not bother with wireless unless needed.

I have an iPhone 7 and the only reason to upgrade would be a better camera system. I don't have a storage problem and the device is fast enough for my needs.

How much better is the camera in the new SE versus the iPhone 7? It's not a huge difference I guess, so if I would upgrade, I would definitely buy a iPhone 11 Pro because that's gonna give me a FAR better camera system. It's totally different from the new SE (so the comparison doesn't make any sense) but I see no reason to upgrade from an iPhone 7 to the new SE, maybe not even from an iPhone 6s. I think many people with a 5S/SE/6 will upgrade to the new SE.

I would’ve thought they would’ve put a bigger battery in it like they did with every other new phone they removed the 3D Touch layer from.. but sounds like they probably just used the same body and there’s now wasted space

Why isn’t there an increase in battery life with the newer processor?

Of course this is speculation on my behalf Without testing, but the A13 is probably efficient enough where it helps manage the battery Longevity, where Apple didn’t have to increase the battery size overall.

Examples for a target audience:
1) my aunt: she's using my old iPhone 5 currently (no touchID!), can't download the newest apps any more etc.
2) my wife: currently using my old iPhone 6s. Her touchID sensor just stopped working in January. Was waiting for this one since she likes the screen size (Xr too big for her) and she doesn't want to spend too much money on it.
3) my dad: currently using the old iPhone SE: good upgrade with a bigger screen for him.

You kinda missed his point. He's saying the battery life should be better than the iPhone 8, not equal to it. The A13 in the new SE is supposed to be more efficient than the A11 in the 8, thus contributing to better battery life. Same size battery and more efficient processor should equal better battery life, not the same battery life.

So battery life "about the same" as the iPhone 8. The iPhone 8's battery was an absolute joke. Not good.

This is just so lazy on Apple's part. Just rehashing the same design over and over and over again to try and squeeze more money out of people.

Yeah the price is fine, but its not costing Apple jack **** to make this phone so its still massively overpriced for what you are getting.
