And my point is you can’t say they are right either. Believe them or not, there is room for debate on the veracity of these numbers, given these companies have no information from Apple to work with and are never, ever verifiable..
I didn’t say these numbers were correct. You need to the read the OP and my response to it. The OP said the numbers were wildly inaccurate, I replied that we don’t know how accurate these numbers are because we don’t get official numbers from Apple to compare.

I will say however that these companies don’t simply pluck these numbers out of thin air. They have a variety of sources in the supply chain, retailers and yes some manufacturers. I don’t know if Apple submits any numbers to them.

The discussions about Apple and Android are much like the drunk bar fights I have seen between GMC and Chevy truck owners arguing which truck is better. This might have been a valid argument until the late 1960's when GMC trucks with their monster 351 CID V6s. After that, except for trim and its interior, they are the same truck, now assembled on the same production line. Of course, we all know it is "Jimmy's" that rule. ;)

Correct. These companies have methods and they don’t publish their methods for scrutiny or any statistical deviation. (Or they publish their methods but leave out crucial pieces of information) So the numbers may be viewed to be pulled from a hat.

Most of them copy Apple (Oppo even blatantly copies IOS), so how have they surpassed Apple?

Oppo copies more than just iOS:

Apple = App-le

🤔

App-le… Opp-o… Oppo!!

I’ll probably catch flak for this but some of their products and even their name are derivative works.

That’s not to say a little inspiration is a bad thing, Apple is known for taking existing products and refining them in a way that people love to use, but come on… Oppo is the most shameless copycat (of Apple) I’ve seen excluding full on knock-offs from Wish/Temu.

Edit to emphasize I’m not referring to all Oppo products.

Chinese consumer smartphones are more advanced than iphones, but people get less and less interested in tech in general. You're just sticking with what you know.

We might be seeing a patriotic component in iPhone sale drops since China is getting more assertive.

Love to see it honestly. Apple has done so many ridiculous, sometimes offensive things for the Chinese market only for them to keep losing it. Licking boots didn't pay off.
Actually I believe it’s incorrect that “licking boots didn’t pay off”. While according to some numbers Apple lost 9%, they are still up 91%. That’s the power of the boot-shine. :)

I wonder what the impact is going to be once Foxconn completes its moves to Vietnam, Mexico, Wisconsin(?), India, and maybe Brazil. They are moving out of China. Foxconn has laid off around 70,000 in China with the move to Vietnam.

So according to your reasoning, windows xp was the best operating system on the planet since it had the highest market share. Ok.

You missed the point

You can’t say what Apple are doing is all because of horrible sales in china when they are still the market leader in the last quarter worldwide. And they are the only company who dominates flagship sales year in year out.

Really, where did you find that? I would love to know if my 16 Pro Max was outside of China.

It says on the box: Made in Brazil by Foxconn Brasil Indústria e Comércio Ltda.

A new posting from China Observer on YouTube, a very reliable source of News from inside China. Is reporting a sudden and very quiet move of CNC machines out of the Foxconn Fuliang Technology facility in Wuhan. China Observer is reporting sources say Apple, is shifting iPhone 17 production out of China. They didn't say where Vietnam is, the obvious location. This has been in the works for a long time, but the tariff situation has accelerated the move.
It might be, because next years iPhones most likely will have tariffs on them

Not surprised if rest of the world avoids American goods as you’re all tarred with the MAGA brush now 🫣
The rest of the world, especially Eastern Asia and Africa, is just as tired of being ripped off by the Chinese as the US is, and are very anxious to become trade partners with the US. 195 countries are in talks right now. You can see this reported in several News YouTube channels from that region. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a good example the Chinese have plundered its natural resources for decades. The Congo is a prime source of China's rare earth metals, timber, diamonds, etc. Félix Tshisekedi, President of the DRC, wants, China out, and the United States to take over the DRC's natural resources. The US plays fair.

China is being backed into a corner.

I believe the iPhone in China is mostly a status symbol since the Chinese all use their own home grown apps and don't care about the Apple ecosystem. With the US waging a trade was against China, I'm surprised it's only down 9 percent

Well that’s simple because android is on thousands of devices that collectively makes up the market share
Where as Apple just sell the iPhone for iOS
But it’s much harder for apple in china

You bet;
Lei's Real Talk
The China Show
China Uncensored
China Observer
China Decoded
Money & Macro
Firstpost
CNA
There are more, but this will get you started. So much is not being reported in the States. What Trump is doing is something most countries would like to do to China, but they do not have the power. The United States does. As you will see in China Uncensored, China Observer, and China Decoded, the devastation the tariffs have had on China. "The China Show" and "Lei's Real Talk" reveal the political angle. From all of this, you learn that SOT Scott Bessent, with Trump's backing, is taking down the Chinese economy, which has never recovered from the Zero COVID policy of the CCP.

People are choosing to buy less American products.
It may not account for all of his but I wouldn’t discount it as a reason at all.

That is Chinese propaganda, which you can learn in the YouTube channels I posted upthread. I am not saying it isn't happening, but this is a move by the CCP to get people in Southeast Asia to purchase Chinese products. They are desperate. The United States has 30% of the world's consumer market.
