Either they were extremely careless with a high value item, or someone stole the phone.

Actually the package must be shipped with a declared value of over $1000 to be considered "high value". I know because when I ship stuff at work once it's over a grand the driver has to sign a "high value report" that we file.

Update on my missing iPhone: UPS never found it. Apple has shipped me a new one. Should be here next Tuesday. Apple responded pretty quickly to my issue, so I am happy with their customer service. UPS, not so much.

Ugh! I should have just ordered my phone thru Apple.

Verizon lied. They told me that ordering phones was an automated process at Apple and that if I wanted to get a replacement I'd have to be put at the back of the order wait list, which means I'd have to wait until late October/early November. They said there was no way to change that system. Even if a phone is lost during shipping, that customer would have to wait for a replacement... Verizon customer service is just bad geez.

I suspect my Gold 32GB ATT iPhone 5s was stolen as well. It was scheduled for delivery on 10/1. On 9/30 I used UPS My Choice to change the delivery to Hold for Customer Pickup. I work just down the road from the UPS Customer Center and figured I would pick it up at lunchtime on 10/1.

At 7:56 AM on 10/1 the tracking information indicated it was ready for pickup, so around noon I strolled in to get it. I waited an hour while they attempted to find it. It was not located. I was told they spoke with the clerk that pulled the will calls that morning and he said he put it in the will call basket. It was no longer there, though. I was told they would keep looking and call me when they locate it. I stopped back by after work and it had still not turned up. I checked again this morning: no go.

So, I called Apple and told them what was going on. They opened an investigation, began processing my replacement, and gave me a free leather case. The worst part is my replacement phone appears to be stuck in the "Shipping in October" group, which looks like I got pushed to the back of the line. I will call Apple back if I don't see any movement on the shipping very soon. At any rate, I'm very disappointed in the situation at UPS. They all KNOW these are iPhones in these boxes. Either they were extremely careless with a high value item, or someone stole the phone.

Almost exact same thing happened to me. Ordered 2 phones and told them to hold when it arrives. On the day of pickup, they told me one was available for pickup, but they can't track down the other package even though tracking said it's at their station. After a few days still nothing so I called Apple, subsequently they sent out another phone which I'll be getting next week.

Then yesterday I got a call saying they found the other phone. Apparently someone 'mislabeled' the box so they couldn't find it. Whatever. So now I have the phone that's been 'lost' but I don't know what to do with it.

I'm dying to just open this one and use since I've been waiting forever for this. And I called my carrier and they said the phone has already been activated. Apparently they activated the 'lost' phone already when my gf called a few days ago to activated her new 5s (it was really mine but I let her have it first). Since the 'lost' phone is technically her phone.

So what do I do? Should I just open this 'lost' phone and use since it's already been activated (phone actually shows up as my recently used phone when I go to My Verizon to switch devices)? Or should I wait for my replacement in a few days?

I am thinking you would want to return the 'lost' one to Apple and keep the replacement. I can see your point though about not wanting to wait now that the lost one has been located, so maybe you can return the replacement. Either way you probably should call Apple. I wonder if they somehow marked the one that was just located as 'lost' or 'stolen'? The IMEI might now be banned from Verizon's network.

According to UPS's site, they will report back to Apple that they located it and delivered it to you. Has the replacement been shipped out yet, or can you cancel it? I definitely think you should call Apple.

"3. Claim Authorized
If UPS is unable to locate the missing package, a Damage/Loss Notification claim letter will be mailed or faxed to the shipper; UPS will not send claim letters to a receiver
If UPS locates the package, the claim will not be approved, delivery information will be sent to the shipper of record, and the reporting process will end"

Well my gf called to activate my 5s on her line last week (since it was her phone that got 'lost'). So the 'lost' IMEI is actually already in my account, no idea why or how they did that since she told them what happened. So I'm sure I can simply just switch that number to me.

Yes the replacement has already been sent out. It'll be here on monday. I'm pretty impressed that they were able to expedite my shipment. Was afraid it'll be a month before I get a new one. But now I want a 32GB so now I wish I told them to send me a 32GB replacement instead lol

I would just like to get some opinions here... and to vent my frustrations about Verizon's customer service.

I ordered the new iPhone 5s and signed for and received the package from Fedex. I opened up the box and found no phone in it, just the paperwork. I noticed later that the box had a second layer of tape on it, different from the original, so someone probably opened it up, took the phone, then re-taped the box.

Verizon determined that the theft occurred while it was with FedEx and its no longer they're problem. They essentially took my money and said that if I want to be reimbursed then I have to deal with FedEx myself. On top of that, if I want to the new iPhone I have to reorder it and be put in the month long wait list.

Am I wrong in thinking that Verizon should take more responsibility in this, or at least be more helpful. In my opinion, if your shipping company screws up then you should deal with that company and in the meanwhile fulfill your responsibility and get the product to your customer. Opinions?
[doublepost=1511888182][/doublepost]I feel you, I ordered the iphone x a month back and have been tracking the shipping until it arrived at my house. I took the day off to drive home from college to pick it up and found that the phone wasn't in the box. Some one from UPS had opened the box taken just the phone and re tapped it. I called T-mobile to get a refund or reorder and they told me to personally contact UPS and get the refund myself. Then we asked to speak with a manager, were put on hold for 45 minutes then hung up on. I'm furious with the customer service and how i will have to pay for 2 iphone x's until UPS gets their crap together. We are going to the store today to see what they will do, but im still upset that i will have to wait another month to get the phone i was expecting to have yesterday.
