I don't doubt that this does work but i like the fact that all the people reporting this are from August, 2008. Besides that I'm just wondering how does the 2nd version smart sim card work without cutting the sim card?

The new version has the chip on the other side so the one side is now flush against the sim without having to cut it, and the little chip/resistor doesn't get obstructed by the sim tray. This is what I'm told and what the picture seems to display.

I've ordered one but it has yet to arrive.

Steps to get it working:
I have the old version
Turned OFF: Wi-FI, Edge, 3G and the my Iphone.
I cut and slipped it into the slot in my Iphone.
Turned my phone on and the signal was there after a few minutes.
I had the "Settings --Carrier" set to Automatic
If that does not work try putting the card in another phone and making a call,
then put it back in your Iphone.

Update “My experience with ANY-NETWORK so far“

Another update to my thread earlier, “My experience with ANY-NETWORK so far“ I’ve come to the conclusion that Any-Network Card does work “BUT” there are some problem areas that need to be investigated. I have since acquired a new Vodafone SIM Card, together with the Any-Network got my Iphone 3G working normally, in Germany where I live. The problem arises when I travel outside my network e.g. to the US. I am currently on a business trip in the US and once again it does not work with my Vodafone Sim Card. I can’t connect to the local networks (AT&T, AT&T 3G, T-Mobile, T-Mobile3G) All I see is “No Service” I tried everything I know, putting the card in another mobile phone making a call, resetting my Iphone, turning EDGE, 3G,Wi-Fi. I have a prepaid T-Mobile Sim Card which I Installed in my Iphone it also works in the US.
Any-Network card is supposed to work with any network but so far this statement does not hold water.
In a few days I will be going to France will update in on how it works.
Is there anyone out there with a helpful suggestion?

Silly thing to ask but does the Vodafone SIM work in the USA without the Any-Network card? Is roaming active?

okay for the people that got this to work;

what carrier did you use?
and
this is saying that the iphone can work with cdma carriers like;
alltel, sprint, verizon etc

and have 3g speeds ?

I just bought a new Iphone 3G the other day unactivated and purchased a Any Network ( www.any-network.com )adapter for use with my Three sim.
All arrived yesterday. First of all I activated my IPhone with my misses O2 sim.
Then checked to make sure everything was OK with her Sim. I could make calls and all was sweet.

So the moment of truth. Poped the Any Network adapter in with my Three Sim. Phone was connected via USB to to Laptop with Itunes open. As soon as I popped in the adapter and Sim in I got a message on the laptop screen saying unsupported Sim. Also on Iphone screen I get a message saying failed. Looking at the Iphone screen I see no signal. Try to make a call and failed message appears.

The phone is running Firmware 2.0.2.

Email sent to Any Network support and waiting for a response. I will keep you updated. I am hoping that it is just a dodgy adapter or it is just not making contact. Tried loads of times now even a bit of tape to atleast make sure the contacts on the adapter are touching the Sim. Still no joy.

Hopefully I will get a response soon and all will be good. I am desperate to use my new phone.

Laterz.

The iPhone is a GSM phone... it will not work on CDMA networks.

Any Network SIM cards work on any GSM network... supposedly.
YMMV.

Account Charges?

I will be traveling overseas from the US and this seems like the most cost effective solution for connectivity. My concern and ignorance lies with how I will by charged while utilizing other networks abroad. Do I use my US ATT SIM or purchase a prepaid local SIM to use with the Any-Network card? First time post, thanks for the patience.

Did you try using the the unlock sim in another phone to see if it works?
Then you'll get an idea if its the unlock sim or your sim card not being supported.

Update “My experience with ANY-NETWORK so far“

Hay People,
My spec are Iphone 3G locked AT&T, firmware 2.02, Jail-broken PWN 2.03, Sim-card Vodafone.de (Germany), Any-Network Ver. 1. I and my Iphone were in France this weekend I was once again unable to use my IPhone because it seems that the Any-Network Card doesn’t support roaming. It just doesn’t work outside side of my network Vodafone.de. As soon as I got home Germany, I plugged my sim card in another phone then back into the Iphone and it worked.
Is there anyone else out there with this problem and has anyone found a solution.
Please see my previous posting

No my Vodafone doesn't work in the US at all with or with out the Any-Network card or roaming active, my Iphone is still locked to AT&T but I don't have a contract with them. For some reason it seems Any-Network card does not Support Roaming. I can only use my Iphone in my network (Vodafone) at home in Germany.

The implications and costs of international roaming is a long subject that has been discussed on numerous threads. The short version is if you use your AT&T service while roaming internationally you will pay a minimum of $0.99/min with an int'l roaming plan and could pay over $4.99/min without one. Costs vary by country and roaming agreement. Data starts at $0.0195 KB and go up from there. Texts vary by location.

My recommendation is get an unlocked cell phone (iPhone 3G cannot be software unlocked and sim card unlocks are unreliable as you can see from this thread). Buy prepaid sim(s) for the countries you are travelling too. I have used One Roam with success.

For the lengthier version of related topics do a search in the forums for international roaming.

In conclusion, if you don't want a $1,000.00 + AT&T bill, do not use your iPhone on international roaming.

beware any-network

I bought the version 1 sim from any-network to unlock my 1st gen iphone.

It worked for about an hour. After that it just can't find a network. I pulled it out and my iphone works fine again.

I have emailed then MANY times and I get NO RESPONSE.

Funny, when I emailed them before my purchase, they replied immediately, now that they have my money, they won't respond.

BEWARE

'No sim card installed' with "any-network" hardware unlock version 1

Folks,

I have an unlocking sim, version 1, from 'any-network' and iphone 3g with firmware 2.0.2. When I installed the sim_unlock with the actual sim card (after cutting it) I got the "No sim card installed" message. When I pop in the the sim card alone from the new carrier I got the "Locked sim" message. So the sim card seems to be working.

Can this be due to an improper contact between the cards, although they seem to be aligned well? (I noticed that the original at&t sim card has a circular shape as compared to the current sim card, which I would describe to be more square like.)

Any suggestions as to what else I should be trying?

If anyone is interested you can buy cheap TurboSIM v2(no need to cut) on ebay for $21. It's shipped from the company in China, free shipping, replacement if it doesn't work.

Also, I tried resetting network settings and it did not help.

any-network reliability

Having read what must be hundreds of pages regarding this on the hackint0sh forums I'm starting to get skeptical about these xSIM solutions.
Alas, I'm in the US for only 1 more week before returning to DE and 500+ EUR seems a bit steep for an unlocked iPhone. Still, I'm confident the dev-team will come through and might accept one of these as a temporary solution-as long as it really works.
To those who have successfully gotten the "any-network" SIM to work:
-as long as you stay within your country: is service reliable? Do people calling you get a message about lack of availability although your phone seems to have complete coverage?
- Does 3g data work?
- Any others complaints/issues?

Thanks!

I have a o2 iphone 3g using the any-network v2 device with my vodafone chip and it works fine.

I tried the rebelsimcard one and it didnt work and they would not return my call . I emailed them but still no response.

If you ring Any-Network they answer or ring you back . So happy i have found a working solution.

I have also tested it with my 3 simcard and it works fine

what network are you using?

Has anyone tried roaming with the Any-Network sim installed or another brand sim card? I mean using it successfully outside their home network or in another country. When yes what network were you using?
