Went on the Apple site and went through motions of buying it. It pulled up my current iphone on the iup and asked if I wanted to pre qualify as prep for preorder.
[doublepost=1505264055][/doublepost]Then I was emailed this
Nice-- I guess I'll have to wait several weeks to be able to do this for the iPhone X-- I can't select it currently.

Keep us posted on how your upgrade process goes this Friday!

I just chatted with apple rep via online chat ( actually 2 different rep) and they keep saying TMobile cannot pre order online and need to go to the store. This is such a bummer really.

Odd since I have TMobile on the Apple iphone upgrade program and I can pre order. The app let me get a head start so all I need to do is checkout at midnight.
[doublepost=1505326094][/doublepost]Here’s their email. They verified I have TMobile

Yes I saw this - did not want to do it, because I want to get X version and that pre-qualification is not available for X yet. But it will be good to know how will it actualy work. I need to get another iphone for my husband and for that I think I will try Tmobile website, because I am not sure they Apple will let me preorder phone for the new apple upgrade program online.

I think if your TMobile but not on the Apple iPhone upgrade program you can’t do online but must do instore. But if on iup you can preorder online as I am able.

I am very hopeful - you are right. It just apple chat rep - said no to online upgrade for tmobile.

LOL and meanwhile the Apple chat rep I spoke to said that you CAN upgrade online now with T-Mobile. Also, I don't think it will need to be shipped to an Apple store. The fine print says activations are "available" at the Apple store, but in the FAQ it says you can just contact T-Mobile to activate the phone.

Alright, buddy-- how did your preorder / upgrade go? (Assuming you still decided to get one of the iPhone 8 models)

Great. Having already done the “Head Start” a few days ago it only took about 15 seconds. I got the 8 Plus. Shipped to my house next Friday.

I am waiting for X to upgrade on apple upgrade, but pre order 8 for my husband on T mobile site yesterday as well. for 65 gb they had 0 down, $30 per month. Initially it was said to be shipped on 21st and now it says unknown :(

That stinks about the shipping date. I used to be on TMobile jump. I transitioned to Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program last year and love it. I’m transitioning my wife and son off of T-Mobile’s jump when their phones are paid off. It’s just a more pleasant experience all around.

well yes ... but Apple Upgrade on Tmobile stinks, for new orders ( not upgrades) you cannot even pre order online and need to go to the store. For upgrades on Apple Upgrade you at least can pre order online, but still will need to go to the store... thus that new phone I order from tmobile so 30 a month + $12 premium protection WITH Apple care

Very cool! Now I'm just stewing over whether to set up a Verizon account this year since they always seem to have the most devices available...

So are they sending you a "mail-in" kit to return your previous phone?

I’m on TMobile and they’re sending my phone to my house and the directions say it will include a box for the return phone.

That’s what my email says. It says simple activation instructions will be included with the mailed in phone. They will also mail me a kit to mail back the other phone. They will suspend the old phone payment for a few weeks so no overlaps occur with the new loan. This is just a generic email I assume, but the info presented by many was TMobile wouldn’t ship upgrade phones. The assumption was they had to be instore pick ups only, but that’s obviously wrong as mine will be shipped to my house. So I assume the other info about the mail back kits not being for TMobile IUP customers is also incorrect.
[doublepost=1505492415][/doublepost]If I remember I’ll let you know how it turns out. If I forget feel free to ask me next Friday.

Nice-- it sounds like you have to *enroll* in the Upgrade Program *in store*, but that they've worked it out so that you can do your upgrade without coming into a store.

Is everything still going according to plan?

Yep. I’m using my silver or “white” plus right now. They’re sending me a trade in kit in the mail next week. Super easy process. This white phone is gorgeous. Put a clear case on it. It’s like the opposite of the jet black but white. So nice.

Awesome. Thank you for checking back in with your progress. I’m glad Apple and T-Mobile got it working now.

so to summarize - those on apple upgrade and Tmobile were able to pre-order and upgrade online without going to the store ?

I am an IUP member who just submitted credit freezes with the big 3 agencies as a security precaution against the Equifax hack. Am I going to have trouble upgrading?

Sharing my experience from last year as someone that has credit freezes due to identity theft...
Yes! your credit application will be placed on hold and you will have to wait for someone from Citizens call you back to verify your identity and push your application through, prepare to be patient for someone to call you back, and don't think that you can call them, because no one will be able to help you for the simple reason that THEY have to call you. Last year Citizens were so overwhelmed that it took 2 weeks for someone to call me back...so don't waste your time placing your order in the first minute after the launch because your priority will be determined by when your order/application is approved... so if it's two weeks down the road get ready to WAIT for your iPhone X. Good luck!
