I would wake up at the launch time, and try to get in and see. Last year they didn't allow for T-Mo reservations, because they have no way to verify for your account. Since they can't, you could go in and reserve a bunch of T-Mo phones with no intent to hook them to service and try to scalp them - thus taking away tons of phones from other customers at launch. AT&T, Verizon and Sprint all tie into common upgrade and billing checks, so they can be verified prior to sale. I don't think you'll be able to upgrade online just yet :-/
Ok, I see why they're doing it. But I think they're just punishing customers as criminals will always find a way. It's a bit like DRM. They should at least allow one phone per card and address for T-Mobile users.

I spoke to a T-Mobile tech this evening and he said they've been working hard over the past year to get their systems upgraded. He couldn't give me details about integration with apple other than they've been working on it but says the experience using their app to order directly from them has been massively overhauled to be really smooth this year. I might look into their installment plans. I think he said it was called jump? Anyone have good or bad experiences with that? He said it has Apple Care now.

I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan through AT&T. Does anyone know if I'll be able to keep my plan and also purchase the new iphone through Apple as opposed to AT&T?
Thanks

I'm in the same situation, having a grandfathered unlimited AT&T plan. I joined the IUP last year independently of AT&T and was able to simply add my 7+ to my plan with no changes to the plan. I expect to be able to do the same this year and you should expect to keep your old plan as well.

Anyone know if this applies to UK iUP? Last year was a nightmare with in-store reservations.

I'm in the U.K and I'm thinking about going on the U.P this year for the X.

I've got £455 locked in from a recycler for my 7+, but could I use that cash as a deposit, instead of actually trading in the phone (presumably for less than £455)?

Cheers.

I guess they'll add more countries today. If as rumored iPhone X will be really expensive they can't expect a huge number of people to buy it outright. Not everyone wants to have a carrier plan, in some countries like mine pay as you go is the best option so you buy your phone and change the carrier frequently

The IUP in the UK was a shambles last year, and there was no way to get an order in on launch day (at least at my local store). They admitted the program was so new that they were unsure how it worked. I missed an early reservation because of it and ended up just buying one outright when I was able to find one. Based on that experience I think I will just buy outright again to secure a reservation as early as possible.

Worth remembering iPhones drop 15% on launch day.
So a mint condition iPhone 6 worth £260 will be worth £221 at 7.00pm tonight GMT.
Supply on the pre-owned market will outstrip demand as per usual.
Smart folks (not me) with a spare phone have already off loaded.

This is NOT unfortunately the case in the UK. I spoke with Apple this morning and they told me there are no plans to introduce the trade-in kit. Unfortunately it will be the same shambles like last year where those enrolled in the upgrade program will have to book an online appointment like anyone else.

This is a shame as it's not rewarding loyalty at all!

When customers who are members of the iPhone Upgrade Program go to trade in their devices this fall, they will likely be able to use a Trade-in Kit that's delivered by mail rather than being forced to visit an Apple Store to purchase a new device and trade in the old one.

Mail-in Trade-in Kits, highlighted this afternoon on the MacRumors forums, have been available as part of the iPhone Upgrade Program at least since July, and perhaps even earlier, but they were not an option during the iPhone 7 launch.

Based on wording on the iPhone Upgrade Program website, once a customer's new iPhone ships, Apple will send a Trade-in Kit with a prepaid shipping label to allow customers to send their current device back to Apple.

Last year, many iPhone Upgrade Program users were forced to reserve a new iPhone from a local Apple retail store due to in-store trade-in requirements, which left them with limited stock to choose from. Many customers were unhappy, perhaps prompting Apple to offer a mail-in exchange option.

With the new trade-in by mail option, iPhone Upgrade Program users may not be restricted to in-store stock this year, preventing many of the problems that surfaced last year.

Unfortunately, T-Mobile customers who are members of the iPhone Upgrade Program will still need to visit an Apple Store and will not be able to upgrade online.

The question is, can you book an online appointment on pre-order day (for release day), or do you have to wait until release day (when there are no phones)

That's a very good question and I'm willing to bet they don't give an answer to that.

I'm hoping that on pre-order day I can reserve a phone via an as-yet-unexplained Apple Upgrade "upgrade" process. On launch day I trot into my store with my old phone and sort it out.

If you have to wait til stores have stock, then there is zero advantage of the upgrade program, I'll pre-order with O2.

I'm considering switching from T-Mobile to Verizon because of this. Does anyone know how I can do that? Do I have to reserve a Verizon in store phone then tell them to switch me over once I pick up?

Last year upgrade program members had a special website where they could make online reservations to pick up thier phones. This site was leaked to the public and I was able to use it to reserve a phone. I'm struggling to remember exactly when I was able to do this. But i believe it was after launch.

[doublepost=1505218836][/doublepost]After last year, I hope the pre-order for T-Mobile will not be a disaster. As a T-Mobile customer, I am hoping for an equal chance to pre-order. Store pickup is fine but give me an equal chance to pre-order from the available inventory.

I'm glad they're getting the process down to a smooth flow, but unless something strange happens at the event today I can't talk myself into doing IUP again. I can't see paying $50/month to forfeit touch ID; seems like they should be paying us!

I just witched to T-mobile last month to their One plan. They paid off my iPhone 7 to Verizon and now I own it. Since we will not be able to order the iPhone X on the device payment plan through the Apple website, could we still do it on the T-mobile website? I just tried to purchase the iPhone 7 there and there is a option for a device payment plan, so I'm hoping I will be able to get the iPhone X there at midnight with the device payment plan.

I'm worried about Touch ID too. Face ID better be great.

Based on prior experience, does anyone know how it works if I currently have an unlocked iPhone 7 Plus, but want to switch to the iPhone Upgrade Program for the preorder? Will I be able to do it online on launch day or do I have to go down to the store?

Carriers already finance if you need it. Save your credit score.

If you are on t mobile or att can you buy a Verizon phone?

I'd say don't plan on doing it without a verizon account.

Yes the t mobile website should be fine.

Also to be clear the apple website should be fine as well. You would just only be able to reserve a phone for in store pick up vs shipping it to you like with the other carriers. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here. It's all a bit confusing.
