This. I’m hoping we don’t get screwed in the UK and this option appears soon for us too.

Ok, I see why they're doing it. But I think they're just punishing customers as criminals will always find a way. It's a bit like DRM. They should at least allow one phone per card and address for T-Mobile users.I would wake up at the launch time, and try to get in and see. Last year they didn't allow for T-Mo reservations, because they have no way to verify for your account. Since they can't, you could go in and reserve a bunch of T-Mo phones with no intent to hook them to service and try to scalp them - thus taking away tons of phones from other customers at launch. AT&T, Verizon and Sprint all tie into common upgrade and billing checks, so they can be verified prior to sale. I don't think you'll be able to upgrade online just yet :-/
I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan through AT&T. Does anyone know if I'll be able to keep my plan and also purchase the new iphone through Apple as opposed to AT&T?
Thanks

When customers who are members of the iPhone Upgrade Program go to trade in their devices this fall, they will likely be able to use a Trade-in Kit that's delivered by mail rather than being forced to visit an Apple Store to purchase a new device and trade in the old one.
Mail-in Trade-in Kits, highlighted this afternoon on the MacRumors forums, have been available as part of the iPhone Upgrade Program at least since July, and perhaps even earlier, but they were not an option during the iPhone 7 launch.

Based on wording on the iPhone Upgrade Program website, once a customer's new iPhone ships, Apple will send a Trade-in Kit with a prepaid shipping label to allow customers to send their current device back to Apple.
Last year, many iPhone Upgrade Program users were forced to reserve a new iPhone from a local Apple retail store due to in-store trade-in requirements, which left them with limited stock to choose from. Many customers were unhappy, perhaps prompting Apple to offer a mail-in exchange option.
With the new trade-in by mail option, iPhone Upgrade Program users may not be restricted to in-store stock this year, preventing many of the problems that surfaced last year.
Unfortunately, T-Mobile customers who are members of the iPhone Upgrade Program will still need to visit an Apple Store and will not be able to upgrade online.

This is NOT unfortunately the case in the UK. I spoke with Apple this morning and they told me there are no plans to introduce the trade-in kit. Unfortunately it will be the same shambles like last year where those enrolled in the upgrade program will have to book an online appointment like anyone else.
This is a shame as it's not rewarding loyalty at all!
That's a very good question and I'm willing to bet they don't give an answer to that. The question is, can you book an online appointment on pre-order day (for release day), or do you have to wait until release day (when there are no phones)

I'm hoping that on pre-order day I can reserve a phone via an as-yet-unexplained Apple Upgrade "upgrade" process. On launch day I trot into my store with my old phone and sort it out.
If you have to wait til stores have stock, then there is zero advantage of the upgrade program, I'll pre-order with O2.
[doublepost=1505218836][/doublepost]After last year, I hope the pre-order for T-Mobile will not be a disaster. As a T-Mobile customer, I am hoping for an equal chance to pre-order. Store pickup is fine but give me an equal chance to pre-order from the available inventory.

I'm glad they're getting the process down to a smooth flow, but unless something strange happens at the event today I can't talk myself into doing IUP again. I can't see paying $50/month to forfeit touch ID; seems like they should be paying us!![]()
If you are on t mobile or att can you buy a Verizon phone?
I just witched to T-mobile last month to their One plan. They paid off my iPhone 7 to Verizon and now I own it. Since we will not be able to order the iPhone X on the device payment plan through the Apple website, could we still do it on the T-mobile website? I just tried to purchase the iPhone 7 there and there is a option for a device payment plan, so I'm hoping I will be able to get the iPhone X there at midnight with the device payment plan.
