I am going to Android for the first time, I've seen plenty of it from youtube videos to friends using HTC Evos and Sensations dailly. However I disagree, iPhone4S is decent when compared to cellphones, good build quality and screen is splendid. Android just has more specs and more freedom just makes it so much more attractive than iOS.

Macs are a different story, incredibly hard to navigate, I couldn't even delete a file on a friend's iMac???

Windows 7 improved on Windows XP so much, I can see Apple having steady success with iPhones because its a main brand but expect Macs to decline with Windows 7 being a much better OS and Windows 8 attracting much more people.

I'm glad that someone who can't even delete a file on an iMac is knowledgable enough to predict the future of a multi-billion dollar industry.

Thanks for the market forecast but I'll keep my apple stock which has made me thousands.

You delete a file by pressing apple-delete. Knowledge is power.

Windows 7 was released in 2009 and the Mac market share has grown since. Can you explain that?

The ONLY reason the Mac will decline is because of the popularity of the iPad. MS will always sell more PCs than Macs but the iPad is a really different story.

M$ doesn't sell any computers. Game consoles, phones, etc... But not PC's. They only sell the software.

You don't have your desktop set to align to grid? Anyway the ability to free float icons is not a deal breaker for me and is the least hindering aspect of performing tasks on a mobile smartphone. If that is your dealbreaker than I wonder what you bought a smartphone for. Your priorities are not the same as mine hence your preference for android. I cannot fault you for your choices as you cannot fault mine. Can we close this thread now?

I never actually said I had a preference for Android anywhere in my post NOR did I say that it was a "deal breaker" for me. You can wonder why I bought a smartphone all you like, I don't have to justify, I was just sharing my opinion on something I would like to have with the OS. Sounds like you are in the mood to argue with people.

Given the climate of the thread and that I didn't see your earlier posts I assumed you were trolling. Sorry

Without Jail breaking it, how? As it stands they seem to be stuck in a grid.

I don't think I should have to JB my phone just to move a few icons around like I would on a desktop.

Are you referring to order or arranging the icons in something other than a grid? You're stuck in a grid, but the icons can be moved in to any order you wish.

(Forgive me if I'm presuming you don't know something that you do)

I phone is a very nice device with its + and - just like the android . But I blieve that Android and rebranded Android OS devices are the future of mobile computing and other devices. The reason is for being open-source and choice. Nothing can beat that. Just think about it Google pushing out Android OS and other rebranding the OS to their liking. Thats a win-win situation. Eventually Apple will be like they've having always been is a nitche market type of copmany. Thanks

Sadly, I find with Android devices, you get just as little choice as you do when buying an Apple device. If I want a high end Android phone with stock ICS, 3.5-4" screen and a web browser that doesn't need 'auto-fit' to work well, what selection of devices do I have to pick from? None. There are precisely zero Android devices that fit those requirements. How's that for choice? Choice is only any good if one or more of the options actually suits your needs. If none of the options suit your needs, choice is meaningless.

Just because the choices don't meet your exact requirements doesn't mean that choices don't exist. Critics of Android are constantly bringing up how many Android phones are released every year. Now there aren't enough to choose from? There are plenty of choices with Android just none that fit your needs.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, in fact I am sure I am. What is auto fit? And are we speaking devices or are we speaking the OS itself. Because I am sure you can find a device and load your prefential flavor (sotck ICS I take it) of Android on it and get what you want. Out of the box, perhaps there is nothing that fits the bill. The thing is Google is ok with you doing the tweaking, while Apple certainly is not. If you have the know-how (or even if you don't since tutorials are written such that a small child can follow them) you can make whatever you want happen. in short, perhaps you can't go and buy an Android phone that fits your requirements 100%. But you can buy the phone that fits your hardware requirements and then "shop around" for software that meets your requirements as well.

I want to announce that I am going to switch over to android very soon. I am interested in the HTC one S.

I am tired of this old, boring wall of applications that suppose to represent an OS. I have been using iOS for I think its 4 years now and its basically the same back then as it is now. They basically ripped off some features from android and put it in ios. Well it definitely improved the OS but its still boring and stale.

But the biggest beef is the hardware. I have the iphone 4 and that was a significant upgrade back then. But the iphone 4s is just a blasphemy. Its a marginal upgrade to the iphone 4. Its essentially the same phone! I have been browsing this subforum and the news subforum. Well everyone is screaming for a 4.5+" screen including me. Hey can they be so stubborn.

I am sorry but the OS is severely lacking aswel as the hardware. I used my buddy's galaxy nexus. I see him using it every time. I am jealous and he has me converted.

I am just angry at apple. It's pushing me towards android while I am an ios user since the 2nd generation iphone with this innovation (read: no innovation)

OP, i am kinda in a similar boat as you but i am waiting for iPhone 5 and iOS6(or whatever new version that comes with it). If i am disappointed like i was by the iPhone 4S(but i doubt i will be) then I am switching to the One X or a Galavy Nexus for sure.

I made the Android vs iPhone choice last December and ended up with an iPhone 4S for various reasons, and I'm glad I did for this specific reason:

Android cannot do low-latency audio which prevents developers from developing good music production apps. Supposedly FL Studio is creating their own low-latency audio engine for Android, but it's still not out yet (meanwhile, FL Studio for iOS is great). Caustic is one nice music app for Android, but they warn that you may notice a delay both because in Android you can have anywhere between 100-400ms of latency. They also warn that 3rd party UIs such as TouchWiz can add an additional UI latency on top of this. This is not good.

That said, if you don't care about this, Android is probably fine. And if you did care about this, an iPad is probably better anyway. Personally I am enjoying playing with these apps on my iPhone even with the small screen, and finding many new opportunities to create music (just threw something together today while I was eating my lunch at work).

Another thing: I would not get an Android phone unless it was a Nexus. There just isn't a good track record for non-Nexus devices getting timely updates, and there's no guarantee that CyanogenMod will support your phone. You'll eventually get left behind. Too bad the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have the best camera (it's probably good enough, though).

I'm not saying choices don't exist, I'm saying choice is meaningless if none of the options are any good. Im better off with no choice and a device that meets my needs than a million choices and no device that meets my needs.

Well, that goes without saying. You don't go looking for choices if what you have in front of you meets your needs, obviously.

I understand that. If I went to Baskin Robbins and I didn't like any of the flavors then to me they might as well have 0 flavors instead of 31. But that doesn't mean that the local ice cream shop offers the same amount of choices. It just means Baskin Robbins didn't have what I want. So Android does have a lot more choices than Apple just none that you like.

Bingo, which means choice is no longer a pro or con, it's meaningless.

Idiots always do silly things...

Simply because I loves iOS...
It is far more better,it has quality apps,it has more apps than android, everything in iOS is far more polished than the **** android,iOS is malware and virus proof while we all know what android is,apple's devices recieves upgrades for all the devices on the same time while the **** android takes minimum 5 months,iOS devices responds more faster than Android devices(even iphone 3GS responds faster than **** android devices).......I have both iOS and Android(Iphone 4,Iphone 4S,Galaxy TAB,Galaxy Note) and can say without any expert's advice that iOS devices are far better.........
The people are jealous and make meaningless comments are those who dont have enough cash to have an iDevice.......
Many other reasons that I hate android like Fake apps,**** music player, they stops responding anytime and etc etc etc....So buy an iDevice if you can,but sont make meaningless comments unless you dont use an iDevice yourself...

It shows that you don't know how to use better devices,so switching to a **** one...
