Here’s a good reason why the wallet should be allowed to be replaced by alternatives so we don’t get unsolicited adds

Well, they will probably use it to their own advantage: show ads.

Had experience with some European banks who serve ads right into banking app🤣 Unacceptable? Yes. Can I do something about this? Absolutely no.

After all, this ad doesn’t look too bad, just a bit scary. People expect to see only payments info in Wallet notifications, and when they see this they have mini panic attack.

Well, while I totally agree, competitors sell theirs for same money and still show ads in every corner. Google still doesn’t allow adequate content/ad blockers on Android😃 There are some but they require VPN to be on which is awkward tbh. Yet it doesn’t make it acceptable for Apple, they must show good example.

On the other hand, at least they are advertising something potentially cool, I am yet to see the movie but racing and Formula 1 are one of my favorite sports. If I had Netflix movie advert somewhere in iPhone I would have screamed, ranted and raged about it being unacceptable (because lol, Netflix doesn’t know how to make actually good movies😒). But advert for an Apple-made movie? Cool I guess😄

I laugh when people say iPhone is an ad free premium experience. Apple is trying to bring ads into everywhere. It hasn’t happened much just because they are slow to the game and slow to develop new features.

Apple is gradually becoming more spammy and introducing ads into the ecosystem. I get it from a business perspective, but I think it cheapens the Apple experience which is what a lot of people pay extra for.

Just look at the App Store right now: IAP games not only top the "charts" but also get heavily promoted non-stop by Apple on their first page, as if they even needed any extra promotion.

Zero chance of smaller, non-IAP apps to be shown, and zero chance of customers even being able to search for non-IAP apps. That's the kind of cheap, revenue-desperate attitude that did not exist under Jobs.

I don't use the Wallet app, so I don't know if you can disable offer notifications while keeping the important ones, like when your credit card is used. But it would really suck if it's all or nothing.

Unwanted ads where you have to opt-out is something Microsoft does with Windows. This is not a good path to be on.

It made me confused. Now knowing what it is, I have one thought. If Apple becomes ad-ridden and does stuff like this for everything, I will be trading in/selling all my devices for Samsung. I might hate Google services, but at least it'll be less locked down in stupidity. Current locked down state is fine. I like it. But locked down+ ads is a big no.
