nice work, respect, maybe you can start a a online shop where people send their iphone to you and you make their iphone for a good price in brushed metal style i would send it, if i had an iphone, (europe)

Wow, that looks surprisingly good. Heck, I'd even agree with some others--I think it may look better than the shiny silver.

Very nice!

Meek - Thanks for taking the time for posting the explanation and pics.
It looks gorgeous. Hmmm.....

Is the brushed metal any better about finger prints? :)

I'm very tempted to do this if my bezel gets any more scratched

That mod looks very nice indeed, congrats on a good job.

I think it looks better than the original trim.

Still after completing this you may want to consider a BSE, www.bestskinsever.com as they are inexpensive and from what I hear better than the InvisibleShield. Once you have the skin on you get much better grip. I didn't use the BSE screen skin, just the back and top/bottom strips. I kept my Crystal Film on the screen.

This looks awesome. I think I'm going to do this and video tape it so I can post a video walk through. My iPhone was scratched the very first day I got it, and the little scratches have always annoyed me.

Finger prints don't show unless your hands are oily, but other than that you don't see them at all. I'd say go for it. Take your time and be careful of the screen.

Would scotch tape be fine to use, or do you think electrical is the way to go?

I think it looks better with the brushed look! My only concern is that I would scrub off too much. Did you notice anything underneath? How many times would you say you went back and forth on the phone to get the look you wanted?

i think it looks great and i will prob do it to mine to make my iphone look different.

Is there the possibility i could rub off too much chrome and ruin the brushed metal trim look?

thanks

Scotch tape might tear apart with the scotch brite pad rubing on it. I would try to get ahold of some electrical tape so your screen is more safe from scrathcing.I didn't notice anything underneath the chrome but maybe i wasn't paying too much attention to notice. I think I probly went back & forth about 10-15 times. Do it lightly and you will notice it getting the brush metal look after about 5 rubs...then you just go from there til you get the look you want..

A question I would keep in mind:

Will this void warranty?

I'd say this would void the warranty just as much as writing your name with a permanent marker on the palm rest of a Macbook

That is, nothing at all as long as it isn't the modified (palm rest resp. frame) part that breaks.

As long as the frame doesn't break it shouldn't void the warranty.

Which Scotch Brite Sponge?

Hi,

Specifically which Scotch Brite Sponge did you use? They make a number of them with various levels of abrasiveness.

I want to try this, as I also bought the Incase cover, and the chrome is all screwed up.

Thanks

Yeah I'm also curious. I'm like 99% ready to give this a whirl... I just don't want to **** it up.

Looks great! And a very interesting solution if the trim gets scratched. Let's hope they release the phones soon in the UK!!!

Hopefully someone from Apple will see this and think about this for the next version.
