Nice job guys! I'm thinking of doing this myself. After dropping the phone about 8 inches off the ground onto concrete it looks like my bezel went through a few spins in a blender

I remember old school ipod'er doing the same thing to theirs... really looked nice and got rid of the finger-print magnet backing..

yeah that is nice, i might have to do that since that damn belkin clear case scratched up the whole bottom of my phone used it for 3 days, and took it out just to clean and check because i heard others were getting scratched up and sure nuff my phone was messed up. i have never even droped my phone now it's a tad less than perfect.

Just like how I changed the color of my  logo on my MacBook, I think I will do this too when I get a keeper iPhone.

Instead of using those sponges, I'm going to use 1000 and 1500 grit wetdry sandpaper (the black kind). I've done it before on my bike, so I have some experience giving metal the "brushed" look.

Is there any way I can get the metal ring off the iPhone temporarily so I don't have to tape the surrounding parts?

Just did mine really quickly, took maybe 15 mins or so, still have to do the apple logo.

So I just tried the apple logo and for some reason I cant get it to do it like the rest of the trim. I'm going to goto the store later and try to pick up a different pad and give it another whirl.

I just got the electrical tape and 1500 grit wetdry sandpaper...

Here goes nothing!

(my iPhone is brand new without a scratch on it)

Ok, all done and extremely happy! The metal bezel is basically the only thing that I didn't like about the iPhone, and now Its fixed!

Fingerprints are much better now, they don't show up as much...

Here is how I taped off the screen and sides. In the picture is a piece of 600 grit wetdry (I didn't need it), and 1500 wetdry.

After I went along the edges, I just taped over the screen (the sides don't seem to scratch at all, but I was still very careful)
The 1500 grit is very fine, and looks more polished than brushed... But not crome like when it started.

And the finished product!

In the end, it looks like that is how it is supposed to be. It is definitely an improvement!

Im not going to do the  logo on the back, I like it how it is now.
Im open for any questions if you have any.

Man these iPhones look swish! I may have to do this some time although knowing my luck I'll bugger it up!

More pictures please!

I did this with my iPhone also after it got scratched. I say leave it the way it came until the chrome gets really scratched. Then do this. The good thing is that when it starts to get scratched again you can keep doing this to remove them. It really looks good too!
