Apple does internal testing of iOS versions on upcoming hardware all the time. Look at this Geekbench score from September 14 and the version of iOS used:

...and? Not the GM release, which is what would be on devices for sale and delivery. What we get on Friday will have 11.0.3.

Look at all of the Geekbench results and tell me if any of them say GM next to the iOS versions.
You do realize what you are saying makes absolutely no sense, right? You are suggesting that they would put firmware that wasn’t even out if developer beta onto devices for sale to the general public. Seriously? No.

...what are you talking about? 3D Touch is NOT disabled in 11.0.3. Only a single gesture is...the ability to activate the app switcher via 3D Touch. Not to mention it will prompt people to update to 11.1 within minutes anyway.

Ok, I forgot that iOS checks for updates on initial startup. And I was totally confusing the 3D touch app switcher being disabled with all of 3D touch because that's the only main 3D touch gesture I sorely missed with iOS 11.

*slow backs away into bush*

I’ve heard but I just never use it. I may be the minority.

Yea but can’t the iPad do the same thing? Could implement without 3D Touch. I’m sure some people love it, but I just don’t have any uses for it.

I shared your opinion until several months ago. As far as I was concerned it was a gimmick that made nothing any better and didn’t do anything I couldn’t achieve any other way.

And I’ll be honest, even when I decided to give it a more thorough try to see what the fuss was about, it didn’t change my opinion immediately either.

But once things like the task switching shortcut and especially the 3D Touch on the keyboard became second nature, I don’t think I could easily do without them any more.

The keyboard one is genius, moving the cursor and selecting text without having to move my thumb away from the keyboard to touch somewhere else on the screen is just much faster and far more accurate than the old way of doing things.

I do still think there’s a lot of room for improvement with 3D Touch, some of the things still seem a bit pointless to me and I never use them. But I’m sure they’ll keep refining it and making it further integrated into the whole experience.

I’m sure it’s not for everyone, there’s always going to be people who just won’t use it, which is fine, hell I was one of them. Nobody can dictate how another person uses their own devices. But when I have to use someone else’s phone who doesn’t have the shortcuts now it’s really obvious how much I’d actually miss them. Kind of like when you use someone else’s computer and their trackpad doesn’t have multi touch, bloody annoying :D

You just changed my life. Am I missing out on any other useful tricks? I wish we could 3d touch the top row to put in numbers.

Ha, well there’s dozens of enhancements and shortcuts using 3D Touch, some more useful than others. Everything from adjusting how bright the flashlight is, photo/camera shortcuts, image/video/website preview, quick responding to messages, quick call favourite contacts, to things like previewing messages without sending read receipts (if you use read receipts.) I don’t know how much of 3D Touch you know :D

But I do like your top row numbers idea, you should definitely submit that to Apple.

It might just be me but I don't care if that little 3D touch multitask feature is on the X or not. That little swipe up and over gesture to do the same thing seems better to me.
It's actually just swipe left/right. No need to go up & over. Very easy & more ergonomic than the old 3D Touch method.

The new gestures are surprisingly intuitive really, once you get to grips with the jarring change of no home button. Not that I’ve streamed the iPhone X simulator onto my device so I could try them out a little more naturally or anything. Who would do such a silly thing, ahem, it was crucial for testing honest

I am sure it's very useful for a lot of people and hopefully it improves over time. With the challenges it causes for Apple to make their screens, I almost wonder if it's worth it though.

The iPad implementation is 2 finger, it won’t work as well on a smaller screen.

Why remove something that people like, just because you don’t use it? I never wear sunglasses, perhaps if I come to power, I will make them illegal . ;)

I mean obviously what I say makes no difference. I am sure you could hold 1 finger and do the same thing though if they wanted. I just think the complications outweigh the benefits.

Aye there is that, honestly some of it could have been done with plain old long touches without any extra tech. But there are of course exceptions that do use the actual varying pressure.

Yea, that's kind of what I was thinking. Long press essentially does the same thing.

Haha no. Confirmed that it does in fact come with 11.0.3. Just as I said. The first delivery to a Mac Rumors forum members in the UK has already occurred this morning. I asked him about it directly. He also provided a photo of him upgrading from 11.0.3 to 11.1.

I guess if you say so, means it must be true. Logic would say otherwise, but we'll see.

No, it’s not “we’ll see.” It’s...we already know. It’s already happened.

It was never logical that they would ship with 11.1 at all. When reviews began being published early on Tuesday morning, those devices had only been in their hands for less than 24 hours. All the carriers had their stock in US distribution warehouses since at least Friday or Saturday. The review devices had 11.0.3. Meanwhile, 11.1 was still a developer beta while the iPhones being delivered on 11/3 were already in warehouses around the world awaiting shipment. Apple has innovated in many ways. Time travel isn’t one of them.

Apple has access to future builds, they are usually working ahead of time and release a few builds back to the public. Definitely possible it ships with 11.1. I saw all the review devices and never saw any mention of 11.0.3. 11.1 also has a bunch of X specific stuff in it. Anyway, I'll just see tomorrow.

You think they would put 11.1 on devices for sale...before it was even out of developer beta? That makes absolutely no sense.

I saw all the review devices and never saw any mention of 11.0.3.

Multiple tech journalists who published reviews confirmed on social media, when asked, that their devices were running iOS 11.0.3.

Anyway, I'll just see tomorrow.

I’ve got news for you...it’s already Friday in other parts of the word and these are being delivered right now. There is nothing to see regarding this tomorrow. It has already been confirmed. We know now. The iPhone X has shipped with 11.0.3 and every single new buyer in the world will get the device prompt about the available update to 11.1.

Disregard my last post. I honestly don't care what it comes with. Thanks though.

It looks like it still not possible to 3D Touch app switch even after the update, as iMore had stated in one of their videos.

Frustrating, as it has been habitual for me to use that on these devices, and it being gone in 11.0 made me use my Beta access (to get 11.1) on my personal phone, for the first time in ages. I actually try to 3D Touch swipe on my Pixel, that is how much it is built into my muscle memory.

Hi, no the 3D Touch app switcher doesn’t work in 11.1 but in all seriousness the new swipe up and hold slightly with the Taptic feedback is so good u won’t miss it

I personally feel like swiping up and pausing is a very slow way to bring up the app switcher. I use the 3D Touch app switcher all the time on my iPhone 6S and it is super fast. Does iPhone X support the same thing?

The most recent iOS update enabled it on all 3D Touch iPhones. I assume the iPhone X will be included.
