So what exactly is high end about it that would make it cost more than any other device. :apple:

Photography. Photographers are known to pay significantly more for a camera with a slightly better lens. The iPhone X has a better camera than the 8 Plus, but in a smaller device closer in size to the more pocketable iPhone 6/7/8. The iPhone X also has a higher contrast and higher resolution color display for editing photos and viewing HDR videos.

Not high-end, but still getting the rich kids and millennials to open their wallets wide: Animoji karaoke !

Personally I buy a device with the understanding that it’s already old because there is something new coming around the corner.

According to Srouji, they started working on the A11 Bionic chip over 3 years ago. Which means that Apple engineering is not only probably already working on the A14, but that the A12 chip design is likely nearly finished, if not being prototyped already.

So don't buy an X because it's new. It's already way obsolete to the chip architects and designers. Buy it because it's better than anything else currently on the market at doing the things you want.

You sure you weren’t watching the stock get refreshed every morning? Again, I’ve tracked it daily. According to istocknow, there has been 0 stock of any iPhone X at any Apple retail store the last 20 days. They get new stock in the morning and it’s gone by close of business.

I have screenshots of all 20 days at 8am and 9pm. Green to red.

I tracked it via Apple's website and for 3 days it never said unavailable. I'm not sure how authoritative iStockNow is but I'll take Apple's website inventory over them any day.

No, I'm not blaming anyone. I'm specifically referring to your quote, which is not directly correlated to anything specific regarding a piece of technology in comparison to an automobile increasing in price point. Again, you're bringing up a car comparison in rebuttal, not relevant.

That's hypocritical mate. Bringing in a car analogy rebuttal to a car anology....and you judge... Take the blinkers off .

Specially targeting quotes without context of discussion is just bickering. Have a good day. Like I said , if you have an issue , quote us both, not target me.

Yeah car anologies are my pet hate.... they are stupid , especially high end German cars = iPhone.... I've stated this so many times , but "pro" iPhone users ignore the original stupid car analogy comments and always target the people who rebuttal them, well done .... you have shown favouritism... :(

How about a fair go on these threads ?

Also remove the notch! Such bad design.

I'm more than happy with the 8 plus, won't be upgrading until the notch is gone, that thing looks ridiculous.

Iphone X and its stupid notch is a FLOP. For a major design change we should be seeing inventory shortages till' February 2018.. get rid of the stupid notch.. $1200 is too much for a phone that can’t do two apps at once, Total FAIL

The alternative to a notch is a fully fledged bezel.

In a few years, when the tech has matured so we can put cameras, speakers and microphones under the display, will notch be removed. Until then there is no other option than a notch or a bezel.

And since the notch gives you more screen real estate when compared to a bezel, I'm all for it.

The notch may even grow bigger - as Ming will soon "report" - so time to run to the store !!!

If you grow the notch bigger, it becomes a normal bezel. Here's an iPhone X v a Pixel 2.

The natural price for a premium smartphone is between 600 and 900 Euros for me. The iPhone X goes for 1300 EUR in my country, so I compare that investment to all the other things that I could do or get for that sum. There‘s no way that I‘ll buy this phone.

I bought an X at an Apple Store in Sydney last Thursday, having logged in at 6am
it took several days of this to complete a purchase, and phones were never available at more than two places
putting a phone into a ‘bag’ doesn’t reserve it - someone else might have also done that and then complete the purchase, and then it’s gone
there’s better queuing software around

Just a thought I had while reading the thread. The iPhone 7+ was sold out through December. I ordered my 7+ in September and got a December ship date. And that date never improved, and the 7+ was no where to be found in stores. I would check daily. As soon as a few arrived, they sold right out. The demand seems different for the X.

I would like to believe that apple really did improve the yield and this is why the availablility of the X has improved.

That plus the fact they're selling two new phones this year and certainly a lot of people are buying the 8 series because they're not sure about the X or think the cost is high (which it is). I feel if they had released only the X this year we'd still be seeing shipping times out more than a couple of weeks.

The Singapore store here gets a regular supply of them for in-store purchase, I like to think Apple ensure its stores are well-served, but they certainly sell out within an hour or so of being available.

They seem to be selling them as fast as they are making them and I see no reason they aren't making them as fast as they can do that. If yesterday's article is correct and they really are building 500,000 of them a day, that's a lot of phones getting shipped.

Hmmm let's see.

$1529.00 (iPhone X 256GB) + $249.00 (Apple care) = $1778 + tax (13%) = $2009.14
Starbucks pays $15/hr, so with government cost of living taxes, take home is about $11.40/hr
That would take me ~ 176 hours of work, over a month. And there are only 3.5 weeks till Christmas.
I wonder if I can take over someone else's shifts. o_O

I have a 6S and I would really like to upgrade to an iPhone X. Unfortunately there is no way in hell I am forking out $1550.00 plus 15% HST for an iPhone. I really think that Apple's price point on this phone is just nuts. Maybe I'll go get an 8, or just hang on until next year.

Amen.. same here.. good thing is they are sometimes going lower than 1K already on eBay...you should be able to get a 256 for around 800 or lower in a couple of months.. not many people are willing to pay 1K plus for a phone

They probably would complain if BMW raised its prices to match Rolls Royce.
I have no doubt that you are right, but the result is just as pointless.
Going on to a site to complain about something you are not going to buy?
Spending time on This site is pointless enough for me..getting on Samsungs site or some other site to complain about prices or
whatever? Sorry I have a job. :)

They get their inventory data from Apple.com It's tied into it.

The reason you're seeing available is because it IS available throughout the day, but will be gone by the evening. The time you check absolutely matters. I can check every day at 12pm and it will look like they have stock because they get new stock in daily.

My point is they are selling out all the new stock every single day by the end of the day.

Ah yes an mobile OLED display that you cannot watch 4K iTunes content on vs an OLED tv that you can. Granted it is HDR though.

Face ID is not something I would consider as premium not much as that is where the industry is going and Samsung has had its Iris Scanner for year which is know is different.

I didn’t come here to argue or debate I just saw the thing about the A11. Anywho in 2 months folks will be taking about the iPhone 11.

Personally I buy a device with the understanding that it’s already old because there is something new coming around the corner. So many folks keep chasing the next new thing it’s really sad.
If you need a phone that displays 4k content, you have other problems :)

It can do two apps, but maybe not in the way you want. Side by side on a phone?
No thanks, I'll use my iPad for that. ;) So we won't put you down for one.

Would you complain if you always bought BMW series 3 and each year it goes up 15%..... yeah you would ... I wager
If I considered the BmW series 3 to be the best when I went to buy, of course I would buy it.
Would I waste my time complaining about it if I weren't going to buy it? NOpE
I'd have bought what I considered to be better. Life is too short.

Hmm, they got more in this Morning. I’ll keep an eye on it.

Stock may be improving, but very selectively. There is not a T-Mobile 256 Silver available to a walk-in customer anywhere in Southern California. Since I'm hoping to join the iPhone Upgrade Program, I have to find one I can walk in and buy, and I've had zero luck since I lined up at 5 am on launch day. I'm learning patience.

The alternate headline is "No one wants to pay for it".
It's just too expensive to be accessible. And iPhone must always be accessible, even the most newest models.

Glad it works for you, and you are happy.

This is after all a forum, for people's opinions , people that complain about people complaining are in fact in the wrong place .

You can have 4K OLED and Non-OLED TVs, yet the OLED ones will be more expensive. This has nothing to do with whether or not the iPhone plays 4K movies. Just the sheer fact that OLED is more expensive at the moment. People already knew that before the X even came out.

That you don't consider Face ID a premium is - again - your very personal preference. Other people do. Besides, the technology is all new and lightyears ahead of Samsung.

You do pay for that when buying an iPhone X. Not only the usage. But people don't get that.

Let’s be real iPhone X is not some luxury item as anyone can actually get it. I am starting to think you are really Angela Ahrendts because at the end of the day it is just a phone.

The additional pomp and circumstance you are applying to it makes as if it’s something that can elevate humanity to the next level.

At the end of the day, a Rolex is just a watch and a BMW is just a car.

Let people spend their money however they seem fit. The price of the iPhone X (or X2 or whatever) will come down with time.

Supply chain reports Apple are manufacturing 15 million per month, and Apple has provided guidance for a record breaking quarter.

How does that translate to “just too expensive” and “no one wants to pay for it”?

It doesn't. They are just hating.

Apple retail has been sold out at the end of every day for 21 days straight. Production has ramped, which is a good thing for customers and investors.

I will eat crow if the January earnings announcement is bad.
