You mean iPhone 7 generally outperforms the S9?

Apple has the best silicon in the industry and it isn’t close.

The interesting stat isn't reported here... which is, how fast does benchmark turbo mode run down the battery. Would not be surprised if the Exynos big core drew more mAh while running slower than the A11 big core. And normal apps don't even use the big processor, but one of the little cores (A11 has two) which sip even less battery in normal use.

The iPhone X has been fast for me. I enjoy using the new features. And even though I am a tech geek, I am not hung up on benchmark tests. I also have no need to try and justify my purchase to some Android user, nor do I think the Android user has anything he or she needs to defend. Use what makes you happy regardless of what benchmarks say.

This! Why can’t more people be like you! A preference is a preference, everyone is different, no need to judge other opinions. Thanks for being part of the solution!

Haha nice! Apple consistently beats Snapdragon. Although in real-world use, it isn't that different (based on YouTube videos of app-opening speedruns and personal experience).

DEX is complete garbage because Android Apps are garbage (there aren't any good Android tablet Apps so why would you even want to run them with a keyboard/mouse and large monitor).

Which is why I’m really excited for if Apple can cross platform apps in iOS 12. Imagine how much it would grow the Mac and iPad and make things so much more useful

Not surprised. When you develop the hardware around the software you’ll always get better performance. I’m sorry android users. I used an android for 2 years but the fact it Apple is a better experience inside and out.

Stupid keyboard. iPhone is terrible as a phone.

That’s Peabody cause of the bug fest that’s iOS 11, hopefully iOS 12 fixes that

Yeah, the A11 (still) beats the competition in benchmarks. Not surprised.

What I find interesting is how the Snapdragon 845 beats the Exynos in all but the single core scores. From what I’ve read at other tech sites, they’ve made it seem like Samsung’s in-house Exynos beats the crap out of Qualcomm’s 845. It does in single core, but those other benchmarks are pretty disappointing. All I’ve read is “those poor Americans get saddled with the inferior 845 model for the S9.” So what gives?

Not only that, but Android will run better on the Snapdragon than it will on the Exynos. So the power difference would be pointless even if it did exist in any meaningful way.

Ah yes, you found a bug. The entire phone sucks because of a bug. Congratulations.

Keep making excuses. Now what about tablets? Oh right, Samsung and Qualcomm don’t even make more powerful versions of their processors for devices where people will actually use that power (unlike Apple who make X versions of their processors).

Or the fact Samsung makes DEX to run Apps on a large monitor with a keyboard/mouse. Why even make such a device? Using your logic DEX is pointless as you can do social media Apps on your phone already. Who needs a large monitor just to run social Apps?

Bottom line is Apple is far ahead of Samsung and Qualcomm. It’s pretty bad when Samsung’s best processor ever, with the biggest year-over-year gains in company history still comes up short against Apples year old processor in many tests.

Yet, iPad is completely limited by iOS. Still planets of app refresh, even with iPad Pro’s 4GB storage. My WeChat message doesn’t come in at all, Safari refreashes pages like crazy. I don’t know with all these power you guys claims to be, why iOS 11 is still such mess on iPads.

Samsung makes DEX, Huawei made its own version, Microsoft has continuum. With dex, at least you can run browser, your Facebook messagers, your Instagram and twitter at same time!! How is that? Can you do that with iPads?

Apple may have the edge on processor design and its processor maybe way faster than new processor from Samsung, Qualcomm or HiSlicon, that doesn’t matter. iOS still cannot take advantage of all these power and iOS is still mess. Apple need short out its OS and made iOS takes more advantage with that power. Otherwise, you can have all these good benchmark, but it is completely useless.

I’ve had my S8+ since launch last April and it still runs just as well as it did when I got it.

Just wait until next year when Apple throttles the X because of battery shutdown concerns...

Not likely to happen. They’ve made hardware changes in 8/+/X to deal with battery issues.

So let me get this straight. Samsung designs the Exynos chipset, and puts them in their phones, that they made.....YOURE saying that it’s their own fault if the SOC preforms badly. You also state that if we tried that SOC in another phone it could perform better...?

THAT MAKES ZERO SENSE SORRY NOT SORRY

No. I am saying that the SoC is not performing badly if there is insufficient cooling, the cooling is. No-one said it wasn't sammys fault.

I don’t know either, but iOS 11 has been somewhat buggy in the beginning. Replying your comment, go to home screen, open App Store, download an app, open the new app, then goes back to Safari, boom, page reloaded.

Background app doesn’t stay as well.

The average consumer likely doesn’t care about speed tests or even take full advantage of what their smart phones offer in terms of performance anyways. However, In terms of performance anecdotally, the “A” Series Chips is impressive with the iPhone.
At this point, the power of Apple’s ARM chips is just out kicking the coverage. They’re super powerful, sure, but does anyone really use that power? Are there any apps that truly take advantage of the processors?

Even my 300 dollar Huawei P10 Lite runs like day one after year and half use. iPhone 6S however, it is ******** with iOS 11

Benchmarks mean jack and that is coming from a 8+ owner. So what if my A11 processor out benchmarks the latest Exynos and Snapdragons? What does that do for my user experience? Not much since the processing difference is negligible to me.

Nobody buys a $1K phone to run useless synthetic benchmarks that claim it's faster than PC CPUs. They will buy it if it can substitute for a PC replacement with DeX.

Na. They will buy it to play Angry Birds, Facebook, and Tinder.

Would anyone be surprised over this?

But why isn't Samsung able to keep up with current technology?

Yes... iOS 11 is terrible as OS.

Actually it's quite nice. A lot of people think so.
