Those who say real world experiences won't reflect the slower processor don't know what they're talking about. I've had Samsung flagship phones (from work) consistently alongside my person iPhones and the Samsungs were all considerably slower from the get go and slowed down even more after a few weeks' worth of use.

What seems to have made a slight difference is the 6gb of RAM that they've been putting in the high-end versions, but even the Note 8 I'll be using until the end of this year is dramatically slower than the iPhone X

Use the Pixel 2 and it's just as fast (maybe faster) with daily use with having less benchmark scores ;)

Unless you are decoding 4K movies the whole day

who really cares. You always go back to the same ol apps on your new device anyway. Just buy what serves your needs or wallet
This is the most sensible post here by a country mile. Just because the guy sitting next to you has something marginally better (Could be Apple or Samsung) it doesn't make what you've got any worse.

Those were the same comments on Apple fan sites not too long ago.
So true.... but with Augmented Reality around the corner it certainly is important and relevant again. This Will be GPU intensive so it is nice to see how both hardware architectures deal with video and processing power in general. I think the cards for Apple are pretty strong

But can it run two app on the split screen at once? Nope. So why even bother with CPU comparison, if the phone wont even use all that power?

Whilst Dex looks cool, and so did Microsofts Continuum which did the same thing. I cannot get my head around the fact that if i have a mouse, keyboard and monitor already there to dock it into i may as well just have a base unit too, desktop PC's are not that expensive, at lease those on par with the performance the Samsung phone will be producing.

Now if Apple do the same thing it could be different because Mac Pro desktops are eye watering expensive, and even the mini gets expensive when you upgrade it to SSD on the store :D

I'm not against it, just think its more of a solution looking for a problem at the moment, but as tech evolves it may have a place.

Benchmarking the phones.... Jesus we really got numb in the brain.
Who cares, It's a phone for crying out loud.

How about benchmarking the prices of these devices? (Cost per phone vs monthly income all placed in an actual need for that power horse of a phone)
Seriously, am I talking like a grandpa here? But sometimes I really feel that these companies design overkill devices for basic tasks.
Portable devices, the future of computing.... it makes no sense.

Steve clearly said that we should not care about the device we are using - it will be just an extension tool. He started on that path - but people considering that Wearing technology is a cool trend started to hang on Tech Specs and Benchmarks and end up using a Smart Device in the Most Dumb Possible Way.

Maybe i am miss-understaning the direction of technology here. I may be very wrong about this but as of this moment, benchmarking phones is like lecturing in front of a hedgehog about quantum physics.

Not surprising, it’s ever been the case that the iPhone is the best performing smartphone - the question is how well does the iPhone sustain its peak performance over time as the battery degrades... Apple says it’s improved with the A11 generation, but how much?

interesting how comments on android fan sites are now saying "but performance doesn't matter anymore"

Realistically, Apple is playing the specs game on their iOS devices to a point where it doesn't even matter anymore - the chips are super fast, faster than the competition, but it's all horsepower wasted on simple games and apps.

It's not to defend Android here, even if looking at benchmarks makes me wonder why Qualcomm's latest chip fares so (relatively) poorly, but I'm amazed to no end why we care so much about chip performance on devices that benefit very little from such advances.

Apps launch faster, games have slightly better frame rates, but they still run whether you have an A11-powered iPhone X or a iPhone 6 from 3 years ago.

Being a satisfied Mac user I would not consider myself an Android fan having migrated to a Samsung Galaxy S8 having been an iPhone user for many years. I found iOS performance to be below par hence I switched to Android which I have found to be noticeably faster.
Aside from which the S8 Display is stunning and battery life to be vastly superior to that of the iPhone 6 from which I migrated.
I am only speaking from personal experience. Not an iOS fan or Android fan but an individual who has used both platforms.

so the S9 is better choice if u take lots of pictures for performance standpoint..

(But then why would you buy a smart phone just to use the camera only? )

Cause this day in age phones are equal for the most part. They all do the same stuff the same. Check facebook, text, make phone calls , play music , watch video clips.

Hyper performing processor kills the small battery in short period making the phone to undergo service or replacement or upgrade.

There will not be any real world difference but price of S9 and SO+ highly competitive considering its features.

Nobody buys a $1K phone to run useless synthetic benchmarks that claim it's faster than PC CPUs. They will buy it if it can substitute for a PC replacement with DeX.

Does iPhone x have split screen multitasking? Bluetooth mouse cursor support out of the box? Full Ubuntu linux on a 2k display via Dex over hdmi running full eclipse?

No. No it doesnt.

I'm not surprised, with all the bloatware and crap they put on Samsung phones it will only be a matter of time before the S9 becomes laggy. The iPhone may be expensive but i've never had an issue with it and Apple are able to maintain both the software and hardware which is why i'll stick with iPhone.

DEX is complete garbage because Android Apps are garbage (there aren't any good Android tablet Apps so why would you even want to run them with a keyboard/mouse and large monitor).

That's running full linux. Watch the video. FULL LINUX DISTRO. With FULL ECLIPSE. On a 2k screen res output. On a phone.

Plus even the standard Microsoft office apps have been developed to take advantage of dex for a full pc like experience and games like the new final fantasy.
