Does the RhinoShield bumper work with the iCarez 3D glass screen protector?

Yes, I have both on now. Not sure I’m loving it though, power button is almost too clicky and it’s slippery. Steelers colors are cool though.

Hmm, didn’t they improved the buttons...? The CG was always slippery, but I thought they added some texture to it. Also, the one for the X/XS is tapered at the center and the one for the Max is not, according to Aaron at MobileReviewsEh. The tapering allows for better access to the screen and better grip...?

Maybe I’ll get used to the buttons, I just took off the Apple leather case which has the best buttons around.

I know what you mean. I’m rocking the Pitaka MagCase, which has open buttons. Naked buttons :D Keep us posted...

YES! Had the Pitaka on the X, and will wait until they start producing the flat black case. I am not a carbon fiber fan, so until then, I’ll try the CG. It’s different having an open back case, hadn’t rocked a bumper in a while. Holding the phone with two hands typing is a nice experience, the glass is “grippy” and feels solid while typing.

I’ve always been a fan of bumpers. I’m going to give the RS CG another shot. The open back case provides grip via the grippy glass, depending on how you hold the device. I prefer slim, minimalist cases, thus my go-to case is the Pitaka MagCase.

I just ordered the Rhinoshield back protector, it’s a steal at $4.99.

Yes, with a asterick. It works, but you have to be careful putting the bumper on. I managed to lift the screen protector up when I put the bumper on and had to reseat it. The bumper does fit, but it seems like it is not quite as solid on the phone as it probably should be. No worries about it falling off, any maybe that is just how the RS bumper is made.

Bottom line, it works.

On a whim I bought this one. I had the RS CG. It was thinner than prior models, but there is something about it that ruins the shape of the phone for me. It still looks like a thinner tire tube, but still a tire tube. But if that doesn't bother you, it was a very good case. But for me, the search continues.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076CKBNLB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

**Update**
I've had this case for a few weeks and there is much I like about it.
Pluses
  • thin, light, without adding a bulky feeling. Nice hand feeling
  • Looks good. You can imagine the iPhone just looking like this. Keeps the shape of the phone avoiding that tire tube effect (yes, RG CG - I'm looking at you). Indeed, squares off the phone just a tad. Dare I say iPhone 5 like?
  • Volume and right click buttons are covered but work flawlessly
  • Combo of rubber and metal all the way around provides decent side drop protection.
  • Lip does extend over the edges and the camera providing some drop protection and at least allowing you to place the phone down on either side.
Minuses
  • While less slippery than than the phone itself, it still a bit slippery. I definitely have to make sure I'm gripping
  • Lips does extend beyond the edges, but just barely! Probably provides only a little drop protection on it's face or back.
  • Right side switch it a bit recessed. I have to push up and down with my nail.
  • The bottom near the lighting connector is just covered by rubber. If you take on and off a lot, I worry this could wear over time.
Overall, I really like this case. I usually switch cases a lot but this one has been on almost non-stop since buying a few weeks ago. With a little more lip protection it would be close the the perfect band case for me.

Did you notice any degradation of the mobile reception with this metal bumper? Are you able to compare it with a naked phone using the field test mode?

I have not noticed any impact on mobile service, although I’ve not done any actual testing. Now that you’ve mentioned the issue, I’ll try, and report back.

I was debating on that bumper as well but drop protection seems suspect. The Rhinoshield bumper is def thicker but that with the impact protection should hold up nicely to the inevitable drop.

I received my Rhino Shield Bumper a few weeks ago and carried it for a while. I'm really not sure what to think.

1) It looks good with my white iPhone Xs. I ordered the White bumper with blue trim and buttons.
2) The feel of the case can go either way. It does not feel cheap like many other TPU/plastic cases, but premium and solid. It is a bit slippery to hold, maybe more so than the phone itself.
3) Maybe because I have not used a bumper since the iPhone 5s, but it feels awkward when holding it in landscape mode to play a game or watch a movie. Maybe this is a result of the raised lips to protect the camera and would be an issue with any bumper case, I don't know. My favorite bumper case of all time, the Element Case Sector, never felt awkward like this.

I would return the case, but after paying $5 for shipping and having to pay again to ship it back, I would only get about $20 returned. I'll hold on to it, but probably won't be my go-to case.

I just noticed that Element Case has a bumper for the iPhone X/Xs phones, the Element Case Vapor S. I am considering getting this one (after saving up some cash). Has anyone tried it?
