I am trying the catalyst. I do hate polycarbonate backs but so far not bad.
[doublepost=1518551548][/doublepost]
Yep. Agree with the gray assessment. I too would have preferred black however I like that it protects well and has grip. Nonetheless, it is a bumper That I’ll keep as part of my case collection. I’ve also ordered the Hummix bumper in silver.
The K11 might be next and then the Dbrand grip once it’s available to the public.

The Hummix is the same as many other similar bumpers including the GFX. Is too slippery.

i've found myself continuously going back to the Black Lunar bumper by GRFXP... it's so damn form fitting that it feels like it's part of the phone, no rattles, squeaks, bulges, etc... while it might be the ultimate in protection, i'm not worries about dropping the phone with it.

The one case i've been dreaming about, but doesnt exist... would be the lunar, but machined to look just like the band on the iPhone 5/SE, round buttons, chamfered edge, etc. That phone felt perfect and with the size of the X... man i wish someone would make that. I can't really find any cases that have a squared type edge.

Still using and will continue with the Humixx. It's what the K11 should have been. I've posted pictures before with my 6s+ K11 bumper and wanted the same look and feel. Humixx delivers and then some with the camera bump protections and being on all sides, its not wobbly on the table. I hate that wobble. I used my old Kodak EasyShare camera so it may look a little crappy, but here are some shots. I had to brush out the dust specks on the screen. I hate those things. lol

I received my Hummix and tried it out. I got the silver as well but there are two things that is keeping me from crowning it the bumper for me. 1. It’s slick. 2. My $45 (got it for $30) Whitestone screen protector is at the same level as the rim of the bumper.

I put my Dynamic Defender back on and despite the gray color, it’s the best one for me. I also put the Black Dragon skin on and I really like it. I don’t think the Lunar will be an option as it has the aluminum rim but the K11 might be okay because I believe it has intermittent TPU along the sides. ZipZap: Catalyst is now on my list to ch Co out.
Minarets: I think you may be right about the Dbrand grip. Time will tell.

Wasn’t that supposed to come out end of January? Did it get delayed?

Yes, it was delayed. They said shipping would begin in February and should be all shipped out by March. I read the factory production has also been delayed for a month thus, who knows when it will be available to the public.

So... I've been using ThanoTech's bumper w/ a Belkin InvisiGlass front and ThanoTech's rear protector on the back for over a month now. I like the form and fit of the ThanoTech quite a bit. My only issues are the mute/silence switch is difficult to reach with the bumper, and sides are a little loose in that it gives a little bit when I squeeze the bumper to the phone.

Otherwise I'm pretty satisfied.

same as the Grfxp one for $14, even with the few downsides, this and the Nova are both my current favorites. we'll see how the final dbrand grip ends up being as other than that, i think that's all we'll see for quality bumpers for the X.

Funny to say, i had a buddy 3d print a bumper case for me (found the file online), its hard plastic and he printed it in white and is actually pretty darn great! Using that one now... i love it because it brings back the feel of the 5/SE

I am having a problem with removing my Thanotech K11 bumper. It's been on my iPhone x for months. It seems like the TPU has stiffened. I tried the obvious technique shown on their web site of pushing it out starting at a bottom corner many times. I push so hard I'm afraid I'll damage the phone. Has any one experienced this and found some good trick to do it? I thought lightly heating it will expand and maybe soften the TPU. It makes me nervous to try this. What do you think?

I picked up the k11 a couple weeks ago and plan to return it. I did not have the issue you mentioned. As far as your idea, I think it would work. But heating the k11 up may stretch it and make it unusable after you take it off. If you’re worried that heat will damage your iPhone, don’t worry about that. I use a heat gun for my Dbrand skins and it hasn’t hurt my phone. If you plan on trying this heat method, I would heat it up at the lightning port. That and the volume opening are the thinnest TPU on the bumper. Good luck.

Thanks for your input. My K11 removed easily when first put on. It seems after a few months and possibly cold weather seems to have stiffened it. You've given me assurance that applying mild heat with a hair dryer will not damage the phone. If the bumper deforms, oh well, I have the silver model I want to put on.

I'm curious why you are returning it? Outside of this minor problem I find it a near perfect bumper (since the buttons are fixed). You can't beat the look of stainless steel.

Hey Archrider,
I like the look of the bumper. The feel and look of the stainless (space gray) looks great. For the price, the following were deal breakers for me. 1. Buttons are just too hard to press. Thought I could live with it but I can’t. 2. The TPU at the lightning port and mute switch port are cutout because they need to be open. However, once I put the bumper on, it stretches and then is more narrow than the side of the bumper. Not drastically but noticeable. 4. The lightning switch port is saggy even though stretched. It’s not loose, just curves away from the phone. 5. The edges (lips, front and back) protrude too much above the front and back glass. It’s a sharply cut edge and does not contour the phone making it feel too “edgy”. I know the purpose for this was to add grip. But the stainless steel already is less slippery from the previous aluminum version so I believe this wasn’t necessary. I really wanted to like this bumper because it’s the best looking bumper I’ve come across but it’s not the best bumper. The one I have now is a better option for me. I don’t want to detour anyone from getting the k11 because it looks great. My opinion is just that...just an opinion.

Update on my Dynamic Defender. I was able to remove the branding on the back of the bumper. Used a Clorox wipe. Took less than 10 minutes. I was just patient.

Hey Bota,
Adding heat worked, it removed fairly easily. There was no negative effect to phone or bumper.

Archrider

From a thanotech posting I saw they made the lightning port area like that on purpose so it’s slightly indented for comfort when you hold it and have your pinky resting on that area. Also the TPU being used on the lightning port area allows you to bend that area to take the bumper off.

Nice Archrider. Also, there should never be any worries about the blow dryer heat. I’m not a phone expert but the only excessive heat to a phone that I would worry about is if you leave your phone in your car, in the sun on a hot day. Even at that, the phone will automatically shut down as a safety precaution. Great job.

I was going to post this in the “Best iPhone X Cases” thread, but thought this would be a better spot...

I noticed that Rhinoshield now offers the CrashGuard NX and Mod NX. Anyone have the new one? Are there any major differences between this one and the original one? Which one is slimmer overall? For a pure bumper, which one do you recommend? The CrashGuard?

I can't speak to the new "NX" version but I wasn't a fan of the crashguard for my 7+. It was slick, the buttons weren't easy to use and overall it looked fat and bloated. From what I've read about the mod it's still pretty slippery.

There are two YouTube reviews on the Mod NX. Here are there comments about the grip:

MobileReviewsEh: greater handing than previous versions.

The Tech Reviewer: nice feel in the hand. little bit grippier than previous versions. little bit of texture to exterior, which is nice.

So, it appears that RhinoShield made it grippier than previous versions. I don’t dig the fat and bloated look though. Unless they slimmed it down...?

They’re the same bumper if I’m not mistaken, the ModNX comes with a removable backplate so you can make it more like a normal case.

I’ve placed the order for a Crashguard NX with their back screen protector. It ships end of September.

Yep, the CrashGuard NX and Mod NX seem to be the same bumper, but curious to what improvements and updates the “NX” represents.

"Mod NX is the modular case system bundle that includes a frame, rim, backplate and buttons. This system is for users who want to use a standard case with back, or users who want to switch back and forth between a standard case and a bumper case. CrashGuard NX uses the same system components as Mod NX, but the bundle only includes a frame, rim and buttons (without a backplate). CrashGuard NX is for users who want a bumper case only option."

This is copied from their website.

The difference between the CrashGuard and the CrashGuard NX is the outer rim.

Thank you for pointing that out.

I wonder if they slimmed the CrashGuard down? I ordered the CrashGuard for my iPhone 7 a few years ago. I returned it because I thought it looked like a huge spare tire. Maybe I’ll give it another shot.

I know they did make it even more slimmer and thinner for the iPhone X. I used it for the 7+ and then for the X and I noticed right away it was much less bulkier. I looked into it and it was true.

"Unlike conventional practices which simply add more materials to achieve additional protection, we go for the minimalist way. As mentioned, we combined the protective properties we wanted into a single material. This has allowed us to reduce overall volume by 40% and thickness by 22% while retaining the same 11.5 feet impact resistance* of our previous cases. As we don't have to fuse separate materials to make the case, the case can also be recycled easily."

https://rhinoshield.io/blogs/news/new-rhinoshield-shockspread-material

As you can see they reduced the volume by 40% and the thickness by 22%, close to 1/4 of the thickness, I was super impressed.

Nice, just what I want to hear. Thanks again! I prefer minimalist cases. Found the perfect case...Pitaka MagCase. Still trying up find the perfect bumper.
