Samsung S8 has 3000mAh battery with a 5.8" screen, and iOS is usually far better optimised (especially on standby).

So this 2715mAh battery should give the iPhone X a good amount of Apple Juice, I'd expect great battery life.

Ya see, I really do not buy this whole 'It's OK for Apple to under-spec and over price equipment because they tell me the OS is optimized'.

I owned iPhone's up until the iPhone 6, & that was until this year. Each consecutive release the devices got slower; & when Apple FINALLY upgraded the memory to 2GB with the iPhone 6S - 3 years AFTER the first Android devices started getting 2GB - Applications already demanded it and as such, borked older devices. Making them feel lethargic and unresponsive.

The Note 8 has 6GB of RAM - twice the amount. This isn't because Android is any less efficient - quite the contrary; it's more efficient, and powerful. Real multi-tasking - not saved applications states like iOS.

Neo-Apple. Boring. Corporate, liberal greed.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahhhaaaa.

Looked at any benchmarks? Any real world speed tests? The Note 8 is ssssssslow compared to the iPhone 8/8+/X.

Look at the comparison videos on YouTube comparing application launches between flagship Samsung devices and even the year old iPhone 7, which holds it's own very well.

Single core performance on the Note 8 is less than half of the iPhone 8/8+/X - and in both single and multicore the new iPhones beat the Geekbench reference 4000 points per core mark, faster than the original Microsoft Surface Book even, or the current entry level MacBook Pro.

iPhone - better hardware, faster. Better software, faster.

Interested to know what phone you've got.

I've got an S8. Trust me, the battery life is fine but hardly stellar.

So Apple.
Mean on RAM as always.

Don’t tell me more RAM is no use.
For one, it’s more future-proof.

3GB for iPhone 8 and 4GB for 8 Plus and iPhone X would be much more user friendly.

So fed up with the pricing and meager RAM of Tim Cook.
How?

the battery is almost double that of my 5s. more than double if you take into account it doesnt hold a full charge anymore

My first Apple device got me so hooked on Apple I still use it, have bought 6 additional Apple devices, but still have that first one, my iPhone 4.

I'm debating popping a new battery in it and marching on for a couple more years.

iPhone X? Meh.

However, give me an A11, full screen OLED in a still-pocketable iPhone SE size, and I'm all-in.

8 is a lucky number in a good chunk of Asia, including China (Remember the olympics in '08? Began on 8/8/08 at 8:08 PM). Subsequently, this is probably the last model of the LCD, or the last set-next year would be iPhone 8S if such a thing would exist.

Hence why Apple is in a rush to get for it. It's the lucky iphone.
Na it won't be. A lot of people don't care and the margins are better on the lcd screen.

How is the X not pocketable? I have a Note 8 and it fits in my pockets fine.

Because benchmarks is an accurate way to see real life usage...

A $1000+ computing device should come with at least 4GB if not 6GB DRAM. For comparison, a $200 Moto G5 comes with 4GB.
Well, that's the caveat when you get an Apple device. Apple will optimise the software to work well with the hardware, such that you get performance equivalent to a better-specced competitor, and use that as justification for getting away with less specs in the device.

The iPhone 7 Plus was faster than the Samsung S8+ in PhoneBuff speed test. The iPhone 8 lost because the RAM management isn’t as optimized on iOS 11. Literally all the same apps stayed open on the iPhone 7 Plus which has exactly the same amount of ram.

Further, in testing that isn’t just opening some apps, such as rendering a 4K video, the iPhone destroys the competition.

I suspect developers need some time to unlock the potential and optimize the A11.

Not being a fanboy, just telling you iOS 11 is clearing slowing it down because the iPhone 7 was decidedly faster than the S8+ which also uses the 835 like the Note.

Wtf are you wearing skinny jeans? My note 8 still fits my back pocket. The 6 plus did as well. Granted my 6 plus did break because it fell out

I had a buttock massage in an Uber yesterday thanks to an iPhone Plus falling out of someone's pocket! During the trip I kept feeling this vibration and kept getting my iPhone 6s out to see who was calling me but no one was. After the third set of vibrations I finally worked out that I was sitting on the last passenger's iPhone Plus who had been trying to call the driver to find it.

If future iPhones do all go iPhone X style OLED and they do retain the roughly-SE size I wonder how the naming will go. Maybe iPhone, iPhone Plus and iPhone Compact.

Previously unconfirmed details about the internal specifications of Apple's iPhone X appear to have been revealed on China's official communications certification board, including the device's system memory, CPU clock speed, and battery capacity.

First spotted this morning by mobile leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, the filing with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (TENAA) lists the iPhone X as having a 2,716mAh battery. For reference, the iPhone 8 is believed to have a 1,821mAh capacity battery.

The step up in battery capacity is probably a direct result of the iPhone X's OLED screen, a display technology that despite usually requiring less energy than an equivalent LCD panel, probably draws more overall power because of its 5.8-inch size (iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens, respectively).

The TENAA listing also gives the A11 Bionic chip a 2.4GHz clock speed and says the handset is backed by 3GB of RAM, two details that are believed to conform with the iPhone 8 Plus.

iPhone X pre-orders officially begin on October 27 and in-store availability is expected on November 3, although rumors suggest the device will be in short supply until early 2018.

iPhone X will be an excellent phone. Ignore or disregard all complaints against iPhone X. Apple has done the best they can to improve their product. Kudos to Apple

Ever since I upgraded to the 8+, with 3GB of RAM, I notice an improvement during app switching. Not a huge difference like the move from 6 to 6s but a nice upgrade.
So having a little bit of more RAM does change the user experience, unless you use only a small number of apps during the day.
4GB should be standard on the premium phones, at least for making them more future proof. It doesn't cost Apple a ton of money to switch from 3 to 4 and I don't see what the downsize could be, as I don't think RAM is power hungry.

Sorry.
That last line fell behind my f* \______________/ *otch template
(that I have installed to get accustomized to the main iPhone X annoyance)
