I noticed the btm speaker a tiny bit.
Maybe it’s both.
The battery does suck tho.

If you have the continuous buzzing issue, plz go and get a replacement.
[doublepost=1520535689][/doublepost]I say that because replacement will FOR SURE fix the buzzing.

My fear is getting a worse device and even with a crackling issue! What I'm seeing on the internet is a lot of people with this problem even in the devices manufactured recently!

My device only has this problem with volume above 90% on speaker free calls, WhatsApp audios, and some YouTube videos with male voices.

The thing is somehow they fixed the crackling with 11.3 beta 4. Those devices will overheat but you won’t notice it overheating unless you use the 29W charging. Then the difference is huge.
Yeah, in the case you’re describing, definitely get a replacement and update to the beta, or just wait til 11.3 public release and then get a replacement.

Just installed iOS 11.3 public beta 4 and (VERY) happy to add that I do not hear the speaker clipping anymore. I’ve run the worst apps twice each and hear no clipping.

Congrats Apple. Took some time but you fixed it. Kudos.
OMG I NEED TO INSTALL THIS

My iPhone X has this crackling problem, I called Apple Support Singapore and sent them some videos. Three weeks later they called me and said “Our engineers had investigated it and found that the crackling was in every iPhone X in their lab. So, this is not an issue, and it's normal that it happens occasionally when you turn the volume up to the maximum.”

They didn't admit it to me that it's an issue.

Unbelievable.
Apple can only be joking.

[/ QUOTE]

El mismo problema

So.. did some testing and it does seem like overall volume is down. I swear max volume used to be too loud to be reasonable but now max volume is not THAT loud.

Also, when you use ANY EQ it muffled the sound. It decreases the volume noticeably.

I would agree that bass has been decreased. These aren’t bass machines but it sounds like it’s been noticeably reduced as well.

If this is the ‘answer’ it isn’t a good one IMO.

I never used max volume as it was unnecessary for me.. now it doesn’t seem that loud at max.

This is nuts.
I am still convinced it’s a major issue.
[doublepost=1520604556][/doublepost]Scratch that. Try this..
Play song at max volume with no EQ.
Then select Bass Booster.
Then select Bass Reducer.

My volume is ‘allowed’ to be higher with Bass reduced.
[doublepost=1520606437][/doublepost]Here is a good song to test with if you have Apple Music. Seems pretty loud and overall good on my phone. I swear my phone used to get but I can’t prove it.

[doublepost=1520606700][/doublepost].. geez.. now that I’m messing around with this again. You can make the clipping happen (it’s a quick one) by playing a song at med-high volume and selecting different EQs. The clip will happen with the switch.
[doublepost=1520607177][/doublepost]It’s worth noting that this is still beta and Apple is obviously making an effort to fix. Let’s see how 11.3 turns out. If volume is different between 11.2 and 11.3 that can be measured.
[doublepost=1520607405][/doublepost]Try this test for the max volume/top speaker issue. Great song by her!! .. FWIW.. my 8 Plus seems to have the issue here. Just playing around with variables.

[doublepost=1520607657][/doublepost]In my case the issue kicks in at 5 clicks above 50% or 3 clicks from Max.

My problem starts with two clicks below the maximum. Only in the top speaker.

maybe the 'issue' is the speaker is just not a good speaker?
think about the tech that had to be crammed within that small notch.... there isnt that much space available vs the huge bezels on the 8 Plus.

I dont have any cracking sounds with this vid from 2 clicks below max. Do yoy still have problem with 4pic1word game after update to 11.3. Beta 4 ?

How is it a fix if the bass is muffled? The best part of the 8 plus is the bass. It’s bass is literally stronger than the X. The bass is muffled at even IDK 30%. This is madness. And the overheating is still here for the devices with a bad PMU/PMIC. This isn’t just unfair.
This is BS. This ain’t a fix. This is a workaround/hiding. It merely hides the issue. How does this fix a damn thing if it muffled the bass and the overall volume?
[doublepost=1520745051][/doublepost]I can’t call this a fix. It’s ********.
I noticed that I’m not listening to music almost at all because to be honest with yah, it’s not enjoyable anymore.
What kind of a fix is this?
I mean I told the Apple engineering mid February that it’s the PMU hoping they would replace the unit. Now it could be the firmware. But they didn’t fix the firmware is the point. They worked out a get around/way to hide it better. Like when music stops or whatnot it still happens. It’s right there.
For me, the bass is the whole damn point of this phone. How do I like it even without it’s bass? Maybe it’s their move for me to get the homepod, and see if that’s crackling/popping?
This is madness. I told them my findings after they couldn’t fix this for 5 months! And then their “fix” is to hide the issue further away so they somehow don’t have to deal with it.
There are two possibilities: a) they lowered the volume on affected devices. B) they did it with all devices.
A is more probable. So we still have a worse off device. One way or another.
This is SCAM damn it.
I am so so so so so so so so legitimately pissed off.
[doublepost=1520745495][/doublepost]To the level bass booster at maximum volume actually takes away the treble so the bass is boosted.
Lemme tell yah something. If I were Justin Bieber and my phone was updated to this beta, cuz I would be a musician and sensitive to these, I would go to Walmart, buy a handgun, and murder my iPhone.
This is cheating. I would sue for divorce if I had the money.
This is NOT a fix. Like it takes away the ONE BIGGEST thing I enjoy with this phone: the bass.
It’s not like the bass caused the popping. If you weren’t multitasking, it won’t be popping.
And for the population with the crackling or continuous buzzing: replace your damn phone and it’ll go. Unless if the new one pops too much, that’ll cause the buzzing again.
I’ve definitely heard popping just raising my phone or whatnot. It is madness.
I repeat: I told them what was causing it so they could do the right thing: at least ****ing apologize.
They’re Donald Trump. “I never apologize.”
This is madness and I’m NOT joking.
[doublepost=1520745647][/doublepost]ATTENTION: attention:
If anybody’s rich in this forum, please sue Apple for all of us.
[doublepost=1520745855][/doublepost]
They are trying to patch a hardware issue
i Wont be updating if it reduces the sound.

https://www.strawpoll.me/14386883/r
Well to be fair, it could be “firmware.” (Thinking that they would have fixed it if it were, I said it was definitely HW.)
And exactly my point, they didn’t actually fix it.
They didn’t fix it for 5 months. And the I told them which part is wrong, guess what?
They found a way to hide it.
They found a way to hide it.
So there’s no bass no more. Wow!
This is amazing. It’s just. It’s amazing. It’s amazing.
Amazing grace. Come by my window. Amazing grace. Buy a Samsung.
[doublepost=1520745900][/doublepost]It doesn’t reduce the sound so much as it reduces the bass. The bass reduction is obvious.
[doublepost=1520746586][/doublepost]I wanna stress this one more time.
The speakers are fine. Both in the sense that they’re not broken, and that they’re amazing.
It’s not the speakers because the popping doesn’t happen when playing back the audio thru screen recording.
This is an issue with internal hardware, and their idea AFTER KNOWING THAT is somehow to hide it by reducing the bass and volume?
Like what is wrong with these people? Is that how Americans do things? (I live in Canada.)
This is illegal. I’m sure it is. I’m so legitimately mad. I’m not even drunk. When I’m drunk I just fall asleep.
What is it with these people? Jerks. Jerks. Jerks.
Also fellas, the devices with the popping issue suffers a) a lot less battery life compared to the ones not popping, b) extreme overheating compared to the ones not popping. The above ain’t touched in this beta.
You literally have a cheaper device. Even if (they don’t) the parts cost the same, you have an inferior device as it overheats and drains the battery.
I had one with 98% capacity at 41 cycles. Check yours. It shouldn’t be below 100% under 500 cycles. That’s what the PMU does.
[doublepost=1520747162][/doublepost]
The 8 Plus has the issue.
The thing with this issue is if it pops for up to about 10 times, literally, yes, ten. It’ll damage the speakers that it starts crackling.
But when it crackles only a little bit, it’s hard to hear. So when you bring it in, they won’t notice.
That way, even tho yours and mine are crackling not by our fault, they can refuse to service it. Cuz it won’t get worse to the point they hear it.
I wanna slap their faces. “We’re engineers not wizards.” Well guess what, you’ll get a slap.
Like why is Cupertino doing this? Do they know obesity rate is sky rocketing in Cupertino?
This is karma. https://patch.com/california/cupertino/study-nearly-1-in-5-cupertino-chilren-are-overweight-or-obese

The iPad I have had for two years is at 100%.
It should only start dropping from 100 AFTER 500 cycles. It stays until 500 cycles. That’s the thing.
[doublepost=1520748224][/doublepost]If it dropped below before 500, although it’s not covered by warranty yet, it’s not right.
I keep mentioning the PMU for a reason. I don’t base stuff like this on thin air. Every time you do anything, the PMU drags excessive and unnecessary voltage from the battery, electrocuting the speaker, electrocuting the processor, which overheats.
Try charging with a 29W it’ll drop even faster.
My first phone I had for two months without any issues was at 100% at the end of 2 months. I had to replace it cuz I damaged and I paid for the replacement.
Darn I shouldn’t have done that.
This is madness.
[doublepost=1520748318][/doublepost]And that exactly proves my point.
Folks, your capacity shouldn’t drop at all within 500 cycles. Or at least 100.
71?
42?
Like that’s too few cycles to be dropping.

thats weird
It’s because it’s a HW issue and they didn’t fix it. It could be firmware patchable. Very slim.
But they didn’t fix it. Actually.
[doublepost=1520748762][/doublepost]They didn’t fix the firmware or hardware.
Most maddening: in the official release notes of beta 4: they DID NOT mention this issue.
They DID NOT.
That’s the thing. They’re still actively hiding this. All the other bugs are mentioned. This problem isn’t. Not listed as fixed or known issue.
They’re still not actually admitting any of this.

It shouldn’t be under 100%
[doublepost=1520747988][/doublepost]At all. Yours is not fine.
So, what you are implying is, any iphone x with capacity reduced below 100% before 500 cycle has bad PMU/PMIC?

I just checked on apple website, and as per the statement "it should retain upto 80% of charging capacity at 500 cycle". I mean there is no way battery will hold 100%, after few cycles of charging.

From APPLE WEBSITE:-

iPhone Owners
Your battery is designed to retain up to 80 per cent of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, a battery service may be available through your local Apple Authorised Service Provider. Prices and terms may vary.

Really...
[doublepost=1520752482][/doublepost]Maybe my 200 cycle iPad has a problem then. It’s at 100.56%
