Yup. The Apple Engineers kept trying to stump me but I was able to demonstrate it no matter what. After that they just started repping me so I said enough.

No solution. Ever.

By repping I mean just making me do something else over and over and over and providing no feedback or results. Even the Tech rep that was the go-between for the engineers and I was frustrated that the engineers wouldn’t say anything.

I mean what did they say at last?
 
So they’ll fix it in the next Gen or the next after that iPhone.
But what about us? Making us wait six months? Ridiculous.
The prob is they can’t get people’s phones working. and they obviously aren’t caring enuf.

It’s really messed up.
My 8 Plus is an awesome phone ruined by this issue. No, that isn’t hyperbole for me. Multiple apps I have used for years I can no longer use. I now get the clipping randomly all the time.

The camera, my main criteria for a phone, in the 8 Plus is possibly the best out there today. Yes, I think it’s possibly better than the X and Pixel 2.

I just wish Apple would do the right thing and take it back and allow me to sit out a year until they fix the issue, hardware or software.

I’m almost certain that they would deny the replacement though.

They should just refund since they haven't done anything
some people will keep there iPhone x for 2 or more years issue is quite big

F*** me! This seems fixed on 11.3 beta 4!!!

I’ve tested it with Night Sky and Carrot Weather, both of which were the easiest way to replicate the problem.

Just installed iOS 11.3 public beta 4 and (VERY) happy to add that I do not hear the speaker clipping anymore. I’ve run the worst apps twice each and hear no clipping.

Congrats Apple. Took some time but you fixed it. Kudos.

So, they solve the crackling in 11.3 and in this beta the clipping, its seems that they are starting to work better

Beta ios 11.3 beta 4 installed on my 8 and clipping problem fixed. :) I can not believe it!
Thanks to all the people in the thread for the feedback and thank Apple for solving the problem even though it has taken so long.

Is your problem the same as that?

Yes, I have the same problem ;/ IoS 11.3 beta 4 didn`t resolve it...
Problem still exists on my X
