Ridiculous--Apple engineers are calling me tomorrow to discuss my diagnostic logs with me too. I'll come back and update y'all after. If they tell me it's a software problem or give me too much hassle, I'm well within the 14 day window and I'll just take this thing back and buy it when they figure out what's wrong with these screens. Or get a Pixel 2. Either way, I'm not getting stuck with this brick.

They’ll take care of you, I’m sure of it. you’ll probably get a new one

Add me to the list. Basically had it for all of Sunday, charged over night, woke up this morning to a possessed phone. random taps and scrolling all over the place. On the one hand I'm glad I'm not alone on the other I am sad that this doesn't seem to be an isolated issue.

I've only experienced the laggier touchscreen outside which is interesting. Maybe it has something to do with temperature (at least in my case).

My wife's X just started doing this so I was going to make a genius appt and put her sim card in her iPhone 7 so she could have a phone over night and low and behold once the SIM came out it started working again........... Seems fine now.. Just so odd.

Wow! Looking forward to hear what they tell you. FWIW, reinstalling iOS 11.1 did nothing for me but doing a restore from a previous backup seemed to work so far! This assures me it is likely not a hardware issue but something going on in iOS...
Update: today the problem is back.... restore worked for roughly 24 hours and now back to the usual non-responsive screen. Can't even unlock the device...............:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I have been having an issue with 3D Touch. It was working when I got the phone but stopped working sometime. Noticed it today. Have tried force restart, reset settings, reset and erase phone (and set up as new) and also restore using iTunes. Nothing has solved the problem. I am guessing this is a software issue - I think the device came with iOS 11.0 and then it was working and post update to 11.1 it stopped, but I am not sure.

This is very odd - if I put it in my back pocket (or any small pocket that’s a tight fit for the phone), the screen will stop working for a few minutes and then come back. So for me, stress on software (a lot of app updates/iTunes syncs) and putting some sort of physical stress (snapping on a case and putting in small pocket) will cause the screen to stop working for a few minutes. I’ll try to replicate the issue when I get the replacement.

I wanted to be able to come back and update you guys with some great information from the Apple Engineers that I was supposed to talk to today, but they never called. Apple is really starting to piss me off.

That is a good point - it happens to me after coming out of my jeans front pocket. When I wore suit pants today this wasn't an issue... might be a coincidence though?

My phone worked fine for the first few days and all of the sudden screen stopped working . I can't get pass the lock screen. Appointment isn't til Friday :/

Well....this doesn’t look reassuring. I was walking to my car today and thought I was randomly missing keys while typing but nope, I had to hit the keys 3-4 times for them to register. Thought it may have just been a bug and nothing else. Then it happened again later that evening. I power cycled the device and so far, so good but this is discouraging to say the least.

I bought a Tmobile 256GB iPhone X over the weekend. After I charged the phone and turn it on, screen is not responding to any touch. Hard reset several times and plug in desktop updating iTunes and IPhone didn't work. Brought it Apple store and the tech did the same thing and couldn't get it to respond or pass the first screen. The worst part is you can't even turn off the phone. They apologized and refund me the money since they have no replacement phone for me. It is not a good experience for me. I am not sure if I should order another iPhone X now.

They didn’t offer to even like express replace it? Just “here’s your money back, get in the back of the line?” Yeesh.
[doublepost=1510031549][/doublepost]I wonder if this might have anything to do with the 120hz touch response. Maybe could be corrected via software?

No, I believe it's hardware issue. I never able to get pass the first screen. Without physical button, the phone is useless because you can't power down the phone. I buy iPhone every year, but this is the first time it happen to me. Maybe the quality control is bad as phone get more complicated.

Mine did this this evening while typing. I was walking home in the rain though, so I don’t know if a few drops on the screen had anything to do with it or not. I’ll keep an eye on it and report back. Mine came from T-Mobile as well. Weird.

This is also my issue: unresponsive but not completely. Especially present (but not only) when there were rain drops.

Heard back from Apple today - it is time for a device swap. Have a genius appointment for the weekend and hoping they will have devices in stock :(

I booked a Genius appointment today for this - they swapped for a replacement device. The new one works without issue.

Hi, I just joined to let people know I may have a solution to this. I had exactly the same problem, my iPhone X was completely unresponsive to touch and I couldn't get past the Lock screen. I tried hard rebooting about 10 times – no difference. So I took my SIM card out to put it in my old iPhone 6, and then tried to shut down my iPhone X by pressing VOL UP, VOL DOWN and then holding the side button. However, that rebooted it. Lo and behold when my iPhone X rebooted, it was responding to touch!

So - for me - removing my SIM card and rebooting the phone caused the screen to start responding again. Since then it's been working perfectly (2 days now).

I'd be very interested to know if this works for anyone else!

That stinks. I'd return it. In fact, that's what I did.

That's what happened to us right out of the box. I'm actually fortunate it happened so early on as my wife can't STAND stuff like that. It showed us the immediate downside of not having a home button right out of the gate.

I too buy a new iPhone every year. We have had every phone since the 4. This will be the first year that we don't get one of the new ones -- largely due to this issue (and the eye-opener that one small defect can render you without a phone).

I hope this lasts for you but I doubt it will. I'm guessing the issue will resurface, unfortunately. Please report back one way or the other!

I’m having the same problem with my iPhone X. Going to Apple Store tomorrow

I've had the same issue others have described, except my screen seemed to fail as I was using it. It was very sluggish and slow, as if the processor was having a hard time handling everything even though I knew this was highly unlikely. Eventually, my touch inputs stopped being registered altogether. I rebooted the phone twice and got to the lock screen both times but I'm unable to swipe up to unlock. If I hold down the volume and side buttons to get slide to unlock, that is unresponsive as well.

Exact same thing here. Went to Apple store and they tried everything and couldn't get it working. After about 45 minutes, they replaced.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you guys! I'll let you know if the problem resurfaces. I will say that after my initial disappointment subsided, I am now loving the phone. I'm coming from an iPhone 6, so the performance improvements are really noticeable.

seems like when I go outside my screen doesn't register all the touches (temp in 40s), but that only seemed to happen in iMessage. I am using iOS beta 11.2
