I had this same issue! Received X on launch day, loved it. On 11/9 I was just hanging out at home when I noticed touch stopped working. Contacted Apple and made a Genius appointment for 11/11/17. Went in and they replaced it immediately. Here's hoping no issues with this new one!

Here’s what my screen does. This is trying to paint lines from the top to the bottom of the screen on the screen shot editor. Total dead band on the middle of the screen.

Genius Bar appointment scheduled. iPhone X, 256 GB.

They gave me a replacement phone. Of course the screen stopped acting up right before my appointment! Thankfully I had taken screen shots and a screen recording right before I went in.

Cell carrier mailed me a replacement device, so far, works PERFECT. I might even say, "Safari feels snappier". No lag, no unresponsive screen :)

Received my iPhone X from Apple preorder today and was just finishing setting it up -- I was even able to make a phone call -- when the screen suddenly became completely unresponsive to touch.

I have been on with Apple Support via chat and have restored to factory default via iTunes -- no help. And their best response is to walk into a store and see if they can exchange it, or make an appointment for repair. They can't even tell me what local stores might have stock for exchange. They just give me the phone number for my local store, which says they have too many calls and automatically hangs up on me.

This is how Apple deals with a defective $1150 phone? Pretty pathetic.
Same here brother....!!!!! I’m feeling your pain...!!!!

I'm having the same issue too, except I got it from T-Mobile. If I need to replace it, do I have to get it from T-Mobile?
What did you end up doing?

I've had the same issue others have described, except my screen seemed to fail as I was using it. It was very sluggish and slow, as if the processor was having a hard time handling everything even though I knew this was highly unlikely. Eventually, my touch inputs stopped being registered altogether. I rebooted the phone twice and got to the lock screen both times but I'm unable to swipe up to unlock. If I hold down the volume and side buttons to get slide to unlock, that is unresponsive as well.
Mine does this exactly....

Hi, I just joined to let people know I may have a solution to this. I had exactly the same problem, my iPhone X was completely unresponsive to touch and I couldn't get past the Lock screen. I tried hard rebooting about 10 times – no difference. So I took my SIM card out to put it in my old iPhone 6, and then tried to shut down my iPhone X by pressing VOL UP, VOL DOWN and then holding the side button. However, that rebooted it. Lo and behold when my iPhone X rebooted, it was responding to touch!

So - for me - removing my SIM card and rebooting the phone caused the screen to start responding again. Since then it's been working perfectly (2 days now).

I'd be very interested to know if this works for anyone else!
Trying to understand how putting the SIM in the iPhone 6 helped anything? I have exactly the same problem and have done hard te-boots over 10 Times. I’ll try this tomorrow but don’t understand the SIM piece.

Had the same issue... reboot using this method. Fixed it.

How To Hard Reset / Force Restart iPhone X:

Step 1: Press the Volume Up button and then release, followed quickly by pressing and releasing the Volume Down button.

Step 2: Now quickly press and hold the Side button until you see the device’s screen turn off, followed by Apple logo showing up on the device.

Step 3: Once the Apple logo appears on screen, release the Side button to complete the force restart cycle.
WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!! THANKS!!!

I'm seeing this issue on my launch day iPhone X.
Booking a Genius Bar appointment.

I'm going in now for the exact same issue. Screen has refused touch input several times over the last week. Started responding again the next day the first time and a few hours later the second time. Too frustrating to continue dealing with it. All updates applied.

Same issue here.
I bought an iPhone X from USA. After i returned my country, Turkey, i started to use the phone, it was working very smooth. Then I encountered an hardware?? problem after 2 hours of using, which does not allow me to use the phone (multi-touch problem.) I called Apple Store in Turkey, they said your phone model (A1865) is not under warranty in Turkey.(I checked apple.com it is under warranty internationally) They said I had to take the phone to USA in order to get service. I am disappointed.

BTW:I tried force reset over 30 times, and restored phone for 3 times. Still unresponsive. I am stuck with a malfunctioned iphone X in Turkey. I dont know what to do...

Unfortunately iPhone is the singular Apple product that doesn't have international warranty in every country.

I've been burnt many times over the years, I avoid trying to buy an iPhone abroad.
