iPhone X design already outdated. Check out all the new 'bezeless' phones coming out that have even less bezel and bigger screen/ body ratio. Not to speak of the ugly notch.

Just really makes me sad. I was hoping to be blown away by Jony Ive and his team to switch back to iPhone again yet my Galaxy S8 that will be half year older when iPhone X comes out will still look better and more state of the art than Apple's phone. And I'm sure Samsung's S9 (or X or whatever they call it) will be even sexier.

'X' looks clunkier compared to S8's slimmer design and uniform look. And X's chrome frame reminds me of diners for some reason and will look even uglier when scratches appear.

Apple going for that notch design means it will be at least 5 years like that hardware & software wise. One of the dumbest decisions Apple made lately along to use lightning port on iPhones but USB-C on everything else and creating a big dongle mess.

I wonder what happened to Jony Ive. Apple was leading design innovation in every of its product categories and to me now it's just the MacBook Pro's and iPads that are great. But iPhones lag behind while they should out-innovate everybody design wise too.

What's the point of this post? New phones are being released all the time with better design, features and functionality.

Because iPhone X will be the same design for at least 2-3 (if not 4) years. Apple has gotten so lazy in terms of doing design innovations it takes forever while Samsung comes up with more innovative designs about every year and improve on it.

Just look how long the iPhone 6 design has been around. 4 years now and they call it 'iPhone 8'.

i somewhat agree.
but still, Apple dictates the fashion..
so we gotta accept their design.

These are such radical design changes. How can anyone expect to compete with such innovation?

What else can they change? Round display or triangle?

They could've fixed the notch issue via software like many devs proposed to 'cut off' and make it black at the top since it's an oled screen.

And if they could've reduced the bezels on the sides (which are huge compared to other new phones coming out) the 'X' design could've still differentiated itself apart from other phones.

Instead they went full on notch just for the sake of differentiation I guess. It was not necessary at all and created a big UI mess which most devs talk about.

Let's face it: ALL phones in very near future are just going to be a sheet of glass. No more bezels. What will set them all apart is the UI/ UX.

So that's why in my opinion it was a wrong decision for Apple to go this way because they won't be easily changing it again and will be like this for at least 5 years if not longer.

It's just sad that Apple missed the opportunity to create an amazing stunner. The only feeling like that I had when Galaxy S8 was released. And Apple did not outdo Samsung even with FaceID and the stupid Animojis.

Just look at which phone is prettier/ nicer design wise. The phone on the left that will be available only end of year/ January 2018 or the phone on the right that was out since March/ April 2017. To me it's the right one.

I dunno, from hands on photos and videos I think the X is more of a stunner than all the android phones that are coming out with top and bottom bezels still. The screen stretching to fill all 4 corners and the stainless steel body look pretty stunning in my opinion. Maybe you would have preferred to just get bezels like the Galaxy S8, LG V30 and Pixel 2 XL. But that's not the direction Apple went.

Have you had a chance to use Face ID? Why would you make such a claim?

Not saying the 'X' is total trash.

But it's just not "wow" like Apple used to be.

Like I said I was so hoping to switch back to iPhone but it did not wow me enough and them not giving X the iPad Pro iOS version with the dock & multitasking is also disappointing.

iOS on the iPhone has not made any real advancements in ages. Still same old icon grid. Can't adjust anything unlike on Android.

don't forget there'll still be 999,999 in line before you :apple:

May be but it’s still one less. By preorder Day the naysayers will have so many folks hesitant to order I will sneak in and capture a space grey 256 for release day.

That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it

You are one person who wasn't wowed. For every one of you, there are ten who are impressed.

This is my objective opinion from a designer point of view.

I love Apple. And it's not about fanboyism and 'mine is better than yours'.

Just disappointed that Apple is not state of the art anymore when it comes to iPhones. The tech inside for sure is probably the best, especially with new A11 chip but when it comes to the design they're just no more the best.

Maybe wait to see and use it in person to judge it.

Re the home screen / icon grid - not sure what to say. That aspect of iOS I don't think will ever change. If you don't like the layout of iOS and the design of the iPhone X doesn't excite you, then stay with the S8 or another android phone. Nothing wrong with that.

I am not sure why we entertain these threads, but I have to disagree with you. I think the X is far and away better looking than anything out there. Everything else looks like cheap plastic with large bezels. Certainly not outdated in any way. All other phone makers moving forward will look to mimic Apple's design. Not sure what you are seeing, but okay. I guess don't buy it and move on?

This is a very subjective opinion though. I think it's hard to argue that where they're going with future iPhones (including the X) - nearly all screen front, no more home button, Face ID & attention awareness - is very state of the art and far ahead of where others are in some respects.

I'd say that when it comes to design they're pushing the envelope just as much as anyone else, if not more. I mean, what makes the S8 or V30 better designs? Because they used bezels to hide sensors? Nothing wrong with that, but they have a pretty boring look like that I think.

i envy your comfortable income ;)
funny how it's something new i definitely don't really need (except the camera maybe),
and yet a new shiny toy will probably win.

What I don't understand about the X, is why the heck do they call it bezeless? It has pretty big bezels on the side and would have looked much better if the sides were bezeless like the Note 8. They are almost as big as the previous gen....

This thread is a low point, i'm sorry.

You would need to be pretty darn bored to reply. Then again, we are waiting patiently .......:D

You choose the right one then

Technically there is less bezels on the iPhone it’s just a smaller body

There is nothing about the x that makes the design dated at all. It like other 2017 phones are similar design.
