From Sept 12 - Nov 2, it was pretty much silver for me. By the time I saw both in person on Nov 3, space gray pulled the upset and caught silver late at the finish line.

They are both nice, but silver just didn't do it for me. It shows fingerprints on the back and silver sides easily. That's the disadvantage of wanting anything on launch day. It becomes almost like a blind buy only basing it off videos, photos, and word of mouth.

They both will scratch and show fingerprints. The silver showing a little less for smudges but the space gray under most indoor lighting won't show those scratches like a silver would since it's dark. You would have to look very closely for those scratches.

Rather have fingerprints on the rear than fingerprints AND show scratches on the side. The immersion with the display also favors the space gray.

I originally pre ordered the silver which delivered Friday. Before opening I went to my local apple store to get a hands on with both. Looking at both I new I had to exchange for the space grey. Don't get me wrong, Silver looks great as well just space grey fits me better. The silver really does harkin back to the days of the iPod and original iPhone. Unfortunately the line outside was too long for me to wait in to exchange so I left. Holding back my temptation to open the silver box until the next day I saw a post that some stores had stock left over from the previous day. Went online and sure enough space grey 256 available for pick up at one of my local apple stores. Purchased for in store pick up and exchanged the silver for the space grey. Happy iPhone X space gray owner. TBH, i would have been just as fine with the silver since it goes in a case anyway. No matter what they are both great looking devices.
