I think even Apple knows they messed up with doing the top bezel cut out like this. But they won't admit.

You can double tap to shrink the video content so it's not notched-out. That's no concern of mine.
What I didn't like was seeing that game demo. On screen elements were clearly seen being cut off. That's not cool.

I don't disagree. Bbut if my choices are to have a notched-out full screen video or a regular rectangle that doesn't fill the whole screen, I'll take the latter.Shrinking the video and having a big border on all sides kind of eliminates need for edge to edge display imo.
The only forgiving aspect about this is that we don't watch full entertainment on phones. Thats more iPad and up territory.
I thought the clips would play in a 16:9 area INSIDE of the notch area. Assuming such a option exists.
But if not...
crazy breach of basic aesthetics principles.

The majority of my viewing is on my iPhone.
16:9 does play inside the notch area... see Apple's iPhone X Developer video.
Based on this:

Media should actually not run to the left and right edges of the screen when in portrait or landscape mode. I think Apple just "zoomed in" (double tapped) on the video they showed during the demo.
That would be equally unaesthetic and un-proportional.Why can't they make the iPhone X slightly taller to get rid of that screen notch? Why didn't Apple make it like that. Idk, I only work at mcdonalds so I don't know the engineering behind it but curious

They should not had done that when non-stretched was an option.

A bit weird, I must admit. I do like the phone, but removing the notch and having just a small bezel at the top would make far more sense. Easier on devs, easier on users.
