People are just making assumptions at this point. They could only have 200,000 units to sell then yeh it would be a flop if its only at 5-6 week wait yet they could have 20 million units to sell making a 5-6 week wait a huge success.

Managed to order 2 from AT&T website 15 mins ago. Apple only reserved a phone for me at 3 am when I tried since they couldn’t get in contact with my carrier. Woke up at 6 am and checked Apple has it listed at 5-6 weeks yet AT&T delivery for nov 3. So I ordered there. First time in awhile I won’t be getting new iPhone direct from Apple. Oh well. November 3 delivery dates still available BTW. I ordered silver 64GB.

first of all the OP is clueless, this is by no means a flop...not even close. I will say that i can still get a unit in-store on launch date, which may or may not vary by where you live.

The dramatic shortage was definitely overstated with that being said i do think they will have an issue once the initial stock sells out. This is going to be like the air pods or the jet black.

No you’re not crazy. Silver 64GB still available for Nov 3 delivery. Regardless I wouldn’t call it a flop though. I believe the many reports of supplies where in fact wrong. Apple probably had more inventory than the professionals predicted 🙂

Hours later and there are still some configurations available for launch day delivery. Carriers have them for launch day delivery as well. Looks like the most lackluster iPhone launch ever. Even iPhone 8 was selling better. What was all the fuss about? Raised my BP for no reason.

It was never a pre order. Got the message that it was on reserve and they would email me once they contacted my carrier. Never got such email. I went to sleep not content. Woke up at 6am and opened my AT&T app and managed to pre order there with November 3 delivery date. Looks like order with Apple never went thru as it wouldn’t have showed my upgrade on AT&T app. Here’s pic of what I originally got at 3:16 am.

Was supply much higher than anticipated, or was demand much lower? Who knows. I’d love to get some figures.

They had phones available for Nov 3 in store pickup 30 minutes after the site when live.

did the 8 and 8 plus have dates slip to 4-6 weeks so soon? I know on UK carriers it has just slipped to two weeks on EE but o2 had 4 weeks from the start so maybe they don't have much stock

Flop? your definition of flop must be different than mine. I ordered the unlocked tmobile version at 3:03AM when the preorder page went live for me and i couldnt get release date delivery for a 256gb space gray, i got a Nov 10-17 instead which is fine but still proves how much demand was for this phone and the configuration i was looking for.

given the fact that the tmobile version was the only option that did NOT require carrier info input and the fact that i placed an order within 20 seconds of the site going up and not being able to get release day delivery speaks volumes as it seems like the Tmobile version was hammered from the get go by people wanting to buy one full price without a contract and it sold out within 3 minutes while the other options were available even after 10 minutes of the store going live

almost looks like carriers had more stock than apple. it was pretty much instantly sold out in germany. i got nov 3rd shipping at 9:03 and another order at 9:04 and store went online at 9:02-9:03 for me. right after that it was already 2-3 weeks
