I'm mildly interested it because of the HYPE. Many of us has followed the rumors of this codenamed Ferrari for two years. This is the accumulation of it all like waiting for Star Wars Ep 1 and 7.

I am not looking at iPhone X as some launch day rat race. My birthday is about a month later and I checked a Verizon store earlier and delivery time is up to November 22.

As long as it arrives before Christmas as 2018 for 10th anniversary doesn't make sense to me, I wouldn't make a hissy-fit about delivery times. I don't find getting every iPhone at launch a sense of accomplishment.

Everyone has their own prerogative and that's not mine in life. I try to see things like a catch-22 and try to see the silver lining to everything. If X sells out, good. We have options. Easier to get a Nintendo Switch and Xbox One X this Christmas then.

That's another four years of entertainment instead of two. If X doesn't sell the way it should, people have spoken up with by not opening their wallets and that's good too for potential X buyers. Easier to get it. As long as there are options.

Nintendo Switch w/ Mario - $360
Microsoft Xbox One X - $500
Apple iPad Pro - $800
Apple MacBook Air - $800
Apple iPhone X - $1000-$1,150

To me, it's not about the money. It's about our personal priorities and the principle of it all. Spend double for something that will get replaced twice as fast?

I think the 2. Nov financial report is going to be "sold quite alot less iPhones than normal, but we have higher profit, look at those rip off margins! Most innovative margins ever!"

I am pretty sure the profit margin on iPhone X is less than previous models when you take OLED and face sensor into account. Not to mention the high failure rate at the assembly. When you taken iPhone 8's sales data into account, Apple is not doing well. Samsung on the other hand, probably made a small future from the OLED panel used in iPhone X

Samsung lost billions on exploding phones recall so they are playing catch up.

People, stop quoting me and saying "where do you see launch day??? it says 2-3 months to deliver". I created this thread hours ago, HOURS AGO. At that time, launch day deliveries were still available.

Duh!!!!
You were also in a higher troll mode back then, which appears to've dropped off now.

I'm sure it'll be back...

For laptops I use a £400/year loss as my benchmark figure. I basically apply that to all other tech as well. I came to that figure by eeking out 6 years from a previous MacBook pro by including the costs of upgrading ram and HD etc (obviously not possible anymore). Currently use a MacBook for which I paid £1250 so would accept roughly 3 years use at that level.

Phones have always been tough to determine the exact cost for but using a similar figure as above gives a 2 year life cycle if I sell the phone afterwards and get something back for it. Otherwise the yearly costs for a phone don't come anywhere near that bench mark. For the iPhone X 256 the IUP yearly costs are roughly £750. Only really works if i buy it outright and then sell it for a few hundred pounds after 2 years.

Obviously purchases such as the iPhone are a bit more emotive so above calculations don't always need to apply.

As a comparison the best piece of tech I own is my plasma TV. Had it almost 7 years and got a huge discount when i bought it for £550. Would love to get an OLED TV but with the lacklustre uptake of 4K etc in the UK I have had no reason to upgrade it.

I do take your point though that paying more now for something that will last for longer makes sense. i.e. pay double for something that lasts twice as long. Just need to make sure we are not just telling ourselves that to justify an expensive purchase.

Hours later and there are still some configurations available for launch day delivery. Carriers have them for launch day delivery as well. Looks like the most lackluster iPhone launch ever. Even iPhone 8 was selling better. What was all the fuss about? Raised my BP for no reason.

Plz don’t joke around where do you see X available? Link plz

I think this thread is undeservedly getting more attention Than it deserves. Even the title of the thread is completely misleading and inaccurate with no factual evidence.

No. Not true.
